  1. Linebrink has looked nothing short of impressive thus far. His release is fluid & looks effortless, his stuff has been quite lively, and adding him to an already impressive back-of-pen has taken a strength (bullpen) & turned it into an even better strength. Kudos to Melvin & Co. on their scouting here. Whatever problems he's had this year look to be completely correctable for Maddux & Castro. I completely disagree that our bullpen is a "train wreck." Perhaps some recent struggles, but there are a lot of teams that'd die to have our bullpen.
  2. Great to see all the optimism. Back to watching the game sans IGT...
  3. Let's go bats! Welcome back WOOG!

  7. http://www.theheckler.com/HecklerGallery/gallery%2FEvents_and_Staff%2Fchug-hendry.jpg Love this one! Wisconsinfan, where'd you overhear that great snippet you use for your sig?
  8. I think Ryan is overrated as a GM, personally. He's good, but not great, imho. I don't think the comments from Santana are 'telling him how to do his job' as much as they're simply frustration that nothing got done. I guess I don't blame him, but players simply feel the need to vent this stuff through the media....sounds like a long-bubbling cauldron of frustration here, culminating in the quiet trade deadline.
  9. Morris is due to recieve $9.5 mil. this year & next, with a team option for $9 mil. in 2009. That's Suppan money for a league average (or better) guy. I'd imagine this move was made in order to flip Morris later this year - or next year - for some young players. As long as Matt pitches the way he has over his career, he will bring value back for the Bucs. I can't imagine they want to keep him around for all that cash.
  10. It's been said, but I definitely want to say it again: Stop being so disgustingly selfish! Stupid babies! Always being born!
  11. Gee, do the Pads need someone (anyone!) to play third?
  12. Its no big deal -- I don't know why your getting so upset!
  13. Yea, but the picks will be cheap, too. There's simply nothing wrong with drafting talent. It's inexpensive for many years before ca$hing in. Should we have not drafted Braun because he's 'expensive'? I understand he wasn't a compensatory pick (expect that it compensated for the fact that we had the 5th worst record the year before), but man. You have to pay to get talent, to be sure, but it's far less expensive than I think you're making it out to be.
  14. Conan the laugh-barian! I love him. I don't play vintage ball, but I know the guy who set up the Eagle Diamonds (very cleverly named - don't miss the story of the actual diamond). Here is the link to the Vintage Base Ball Association, under which the Diamonds play. I had a chance to play once this year, but didn't have enough time to get there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif So if anyone's really interested, and want 'the hook-up', I could contact the organizer, fwiw.
  15. He's just got that 'I make a butt-load of money off of bats' look in his eyes, doesn't he?
  16. aracko, actually that linked MadFriars fan forum said he has a curve & a slider, fwiw. Didn't say anything about a splitter, and went as far as one poster stating he needs to add a 'Hoffman-type change' in order to get back to the top of his game. Don't know if you're right or if they are. Their take on Linebrink was very much mixed, a la T-Bow a month or two ago. Sounds like Doug 'bought low', except that he gave up a lot...
  17. And, dirtyfranks confirms suspicion that he's a sCrUBs fan. Nothin' better to do tonight, huh? EDIT: from the locked "Another stellar outing by Suppan" thread:
  18. I agree, brewcrewkid, which is why I said what I did back on pg. 2 of this thread. I knew/know Linebrink's an impending FA, but he's a far less expensive one than CoCo.
  19. They've been saying the search for next year's closer is on during the season. I think we've got what's behind door number two for the 2008 closer spot, and I like it. I don't think giving up Inman is great, but I've learned to trust Melvin & Co., which isn't to say they can't make mistakes. We gave up Eveland earlier, who didn't thrill me (but many others liked him), and I'm sure we can draft another promising pitcher next year to fill in where we lose Inman. Best of luck, Will, and Scott as well!
  20. That's because Tina Fey is hilarious. She made, with this movie, perhaps the most seamless transition from SNL to the silver screen - largely because she didn't need to simply stretch a character or skit out for an hour and a half. Imho, it seemed like she'd been working on that script for a long time before she got it sold (as in, while on SNL). I loved that picture.
  21. Whoops. Thought I nailed it, but now I just find out what my foot tastes like. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  22. not to hijack the thread, but Braun's ROY chances are through the roof now.
  23. Even with all the time, effort & research put into this thread thus far, I really think our 'veteran LF for one year' is Jenkins. I think the team will decline his option, then negotiate a one to two year deal at less $. If that can't get done, then he'll be gone. I've loved Jenks from day one, and want him back. Aside from going out & signing or trading for a big star, I just don't know how many better options there are out there (given that it's to hold LF until LaPorta is ready).
  24. So I tried to check it out today, and got an error page. It's not a fluke-one-time-deal; I've been checking throughout the day. What's the situation? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
