  1. Spalding Gray (no google was needed)
  2. Yea, but like you said, your dog can't talk & tell you exactly what's going on. Especially with a small dog, whose bones & tendons (etc.) are tiny, you did the right thing to take him to the vet. Even though $200 is not nice to pay, it's better (imho) than not taking him & finding out that your inaction hurt Tyson more in the long run (losing his leg, for example). Granted, this time wasn't anything too serious, but when you described the accident/incident in the original post, I was immediately concerned for the dog. I wondered if his tendon(s) had been torn or something bad. Luckily for everyone, no such bad luck. He's a beautiful dog, and sounds like he's highly active (and a blast to be friends with!), so I'd imagine this won't be the last time Tyson hurts himself by going out gangbusters. Look at it as a learning experience, even if it did cost $200. He's ok, and won't have any long-term damage. That's the important thing. Enjoy that gorgeous, happy dog!
  3. You bet your butt he would! Even so, the effort to cut him down has only made him more powerful...did you really think Braun was doing this all on his own? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. If by "disappointed," you mean "can't believe his luck" then you're totally wrong.
  5. and that's why you run this site. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif
  6. Rent-A-Torii! Are you a division-contender with a hole in CF? Have your eye on a FA CF after the season? Then Rent-A-Torii may be right for you! Sure, he may not hit .300, or have jaw-dropping power, but he's a well-rounded talent - and the total package in the field! Call now, supplies going fast!
  7. I think he's better friends with $, though. But we'll see. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif This stinks for the Cards & their fans alike. 2007 has not been the year for them. I'd bet this means for certain that Walt Jocketty's phone will be getting a lot of calls. You'd have to imagine Chris Duncan could net them quite a bit at this point, and I'm sure some GM would buy that Scott Rolen's going to have a resurgence with a change of scenery.
  8. This was surprisingly easy! Shortest "Google won't save you" ever?
  9. First: As a (Brewer-worshipping) kid living just outside of Milwaukee, I went to my allergist one day for the routine shots, only to walk into the waiting room to see - then-manager Tom Trebelhorn. I was too nervous to even go say 'Hi'/'Go Crew!' Second: Partying one night at Monday's on State St. in Madison, my group of buddies & I were sitting at the window overlooking State. As a big dude walked by, I said, "Isn't that [then-Packer OG] Marco Rivera?" He stopped on his way by to peek in this particular bar, and I was easily able to tell that, yes, it was. My buddy from Boston didn't believe me, and actually (buzzed as he was) ran out of the bar to go confirm. All we heard was, "Marco!...." as he ran out the door. Said he was really nice about it, very soft-spoken. (I work now at the Great Dane, and Mark Tauscher was there last weekend. It's funny how neither he nor Rivera looked like the giants they do on TV, yet at the same time, I wouldn't want my job to be trying to not get crushed by either one of them.) Third: I used to work at the Kohl Center, so would see athletes a lot, obviously, but also concert performers. I can't say I had an 'encounter' or whatever, but the funniest had to be Billy Joel whizzing around the backstage bowels of the KC in his golf cart with Elton John sitting shotgun. Priceless - plus their show was incredible!
  10. I'd heard he was a scout these days, but had no idea he was with us. Interesting.
  11. I can just end the statement there. He was delicious, and unafraid to get after hitters. Beautiful job of sparing the bullpen by Cappy - even if we dropped last night's 'game,' his stellar performance puts us in a great position to win today's rubber match. Thanks Chris! We needed you back, buddy!
  12. For the Bucs' sake, I hope they can deal Captain Jack & his ridiculous contract. $8-ish mil./year for a poor-hit SS is crippling to a payroll that low. Now Boston on the other hand....(just thinkin')
  13. I don't know if JJ (or any of these guys) is really 'doing' anything wrong, aside from not seeing the ball well. Mechanically they may be some slight tweaks to be made, but we just need to be patient & realize that no player is capable of maintaining the torrential production we got from Prince & JJ in the first half. He'll be fine, just as Braun will be fine when he has to fight through his first real slump (and just like Prince did fine getting back through his). Once the ball starts looking big again to JJ, he'll be back to his mashing ways. But no one should be surprised that the division-leading Brewers got heavily re-scouted, from top to bottom.
  14. Oh come on guys - they're just dogs! This ____ is sick.
  15. If Livan is only 32, I'm 6. I like having YoGa out there; let's hope the bats join him! Hernandez is a good hurler against whom to be patient.
  16. Caught that when it aired. Good stuff, plus they didn't have to stretch material out to cover 20+ minutes per show. Condensed = funny.
  17. No, not in terms of 'spike differential', but for his age he certainly does stand out, just in terms of 'HR reached'.
  18. Sheets has gone on record more than once affirming that he believes a contract is just as much about what you have done, as opposed to what you 'will' do, fwiw...
  19. I'd imagine Damian's "W-L" record is more an indicator that our squad has hit LHPing quite well, given that he plays most against LHP. Having Braun, Fielder, Mench, Hall, Hart, etc. v. LHP has a much bigger impact than one guy - but Miller hits LHP well himself.
  20. I'd personally rather just let Rickie be. He, at worst, is a super-bonus as a pinch-runner - and given our recent string of tight games, we recognize how valuable an extra run can be. Let Rottino continue to get regular work in AAA, let a (perhaps injured) young guy rest while still contributing to the MLB club, and hope his wrist shores up at the earliest late this year, and latest during this coming offseason. No need to panic. Although I'd rather not be stuck with Counsell & Graffy everyday at any spot (TGFRyanBraun), having them at 2B is much more palatable than 3B.
  21. good gravy I love peripherals more & more with each passing day! EDIT: Clarity
  22. me neither, dlk. that's a good call.
  23. The D-Backs' lineup as a whole hasn't impressed me. In fact, I've been surprised to see their play, yet notice them near the top of the NL West. Perhaps we're lucky we missed Webb? Perfect game whereby to gauge Capuano's effectiveness, imho. Going against a less-than stellar offense in general, and specifically one that fares poorly against LHPing, should be a chance for him to shine. All I think we'll 'need' from Chris, relative to bullpen usage concerns, is appx. 6 IP, as Balfour, Parra, & T-Bow should all be available tonight (along with CoCo, given a save situation - but it'd be nice to score enough runs to give him a night off) EDIT: I now see the D-B's have won only 2 of their last 10 games, including going merely 5-14 since their June 25th series v. the Dodgers. Maybe their poor hitting is catching up with them finally? Tough stretch for them, having been on the road from June 29th - July 8th, then home for 3 v. SF (they won the first two), and now on the road from July 16th - 22nd (@ us & ChC for a combined 7 games). Let's just hope they can get hot against the sCrUBs.
  24. the line that got me the most so far was from the camera phone/mugging episode. The song was while they wandered the snowy streets, and Jermaine's line about shoe companies/sweatshops ("What's your overhead?") had me in tears. It was just so unexpected & unrelated, yet hilariously fit into the song)
