  1. Wow -- so jealous! And Kalle, I have to tell you that a Derby Della Madonnina at the San Siro is a huge life-checklist item for me. Now, how soon I could realistically make that happen is another story...
  2. Yeah, because playing baseball almost every day for 170+ days consecutively doesn't have a cumulative effect...
  3. Because it takes two to tango, and although Rogers has said all the right things, there will be no shortage of suitors for his services, and Mark is going to be very anxious to hear what they say and start clean elsewhere. Honestly? At this point, I guess I'll be surprised if this is the case. If he's a 92-94 mph kind of arm at this point, I simply don't see where the massive demand for his services would be. I genuinely believe it's going to be in his best interest to focus on honing his craft as a bullpen arm at this point, and there really won't be a much better MLB opportunity than with the Brewers over the next 2-3 seasons.
  4. That I am. I love Wenger... he's a huge reason I got into following club football, period. Spurs for you?
  5. Mesut Özil to Arsenal. I love it.
  6. Morris Powers Sounds To 2-1 Win In Season Finale Slugger Belts Team-Leading 24th Homer Of Year Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/AYQ1iqM.jpg Mike Guerrero congratulates Hunter Morris after his 1st inning HR (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Hunter Morris Two-Run HR AUDIO: Hainley Statia Robs A Home Run AUDIO: Final Out Of The Season -- Sounds Win! NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Hunter Morris belted a two-run homer and Hainley Statia made a game-saving catch in the top of the ninth to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 2-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs on Monday afternoon in the season finale at Greer Stadium. With today's crowd of 4,586 fans, the Sounds finished with their largest seasonal attendance in six years (355,003). Nashville (57-87), which took three of four in the season-ending series against the I-Cubs, finished the season with just the 14th losing record in the club's 36-year history. Morris spotted the Sounds a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an opposite-field, two-run homer to left-center off Kyle Hendricks that careened off the guitar-shaped scoreboard. The blast, which also scored Eugenio Velez, was the slugger's team-leading 24th roundtripper of the year. Velez (3-for-4) extended the Sounds' longest hitting streak of the season to 22 games with a fourth-inning infield single. The knock also upped his league-best consecutive games on-base streak to 36 straight contests. He finished his red-hot Sounds tenure with a .377 average in 38 games. Aaron Laffey started for Nashville on three days' rest and worked three scoreless frames. Cubs second baseman Tim Torres (2-for-3) halved the Nashville lead to 2-1 in the top of the fifth when he belted a solo homer to left-center off Tim Dillard, the infielder's fifth big fly of the year. Dillard (4-2) picked up the victory in relief for the Sounds after allowing one run on one hit (the Torres homer) in his three frames of action. Johnnie Lowe followed with two scoreless innings for Nashville before the Cubs made things interesting against Jesus Sanchez in the ninth. After walking the leadoff batter, Sanchez struck out the next hitter before Greg Rohan lifted a high fly ball to left, where Statia made a leaping grab with his glove extended above the wall to rob him of a potential go-ahead homer. Sanchez followed by coaxing a game-ending groundout from Luis Flores to secure the win and nail down his seventh save. Hendricks (3-1) suffered his first loss of the year despite turning in a quality start for the Cubs. He allowed two runs on six hits in six innings of action. Baseball returns to Greer Stadium in April 2014 when the Sounds begin their 37th season of competition. Season tickets are available now by calling 615-690-HITS or visiting the Greer Stadium box office. Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday
  7. How did Weeks do the rest of the year though? Scooter has way more upside than Weeks at this point. It's too bad Weeks couldn't have stayed healthy the rest of the season and/or put up some respectable numbers so the Brewers could trade him this winter. Well, the rest of the year in AAA, Scooter posted a .697 OPS. So the talk of his upside being higher is just as likely wishful thinking as it is truth.
  8. Love the first two, and can't wait to go see the latest in the theater!
  9. Sounds Slip In Ninth; Lose 3-2 In Extras Nashville's Zach Kroenke Fires Seven Scoreless In Loss Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/MAGdJX5.jpg Zack Kroenke (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Blake Lalli's Go-Ahead Single AUDIO: Josh Prince's RBI Single NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds had one out to go before picking up their eighth shutout victory of the season, but the Iowa Cubs battled back Sunday night to force extras before handing Nashville the 3-2 loss at Greer Stadium. Iowa's first baseman Greg Rohan hit the game-winning home run off the guitar scoreboard in the 10th inning, but it was former Sound Edwin Maysonet who kept the Cubs in the game with his at-bat in the 9th inning, hitting the game-tying two-run single up the middle facing two outs in the ninth inning. Sounds reliever Travis Webb (2-6) was charged the loss, manning the hill in the 10th, while Dustin Molleken took a blown save after loading the bases for Maysonet in the ninth. Maysonet's hit prevented the Cubs from recording a franchise single-season high 15th shutout loss. Instead, Nashville was charged with its ninth extra innings loss in 10 qualifying games. Up until the ninth inning, Sounds pitching had been solid. Sounds starter Zach Kroenke limited the I-Cubs to three hits across seven scoreless innings en route to his sixth quality start of the season. The lefty struck out seven and walked none before Kyle Heckathorn took over in the eighth for a perfect frame. Kroenke's outing continued the Sounds recent trend of solid pitching: over the last five games, starters hold a 1.21 ERA (4er/29.2ip) with a 3-0 record and three quality starts after seeing only one pitcher log six innings or more in the club's previous 12 games. Offensively, catcher Blake Lalli put the Sounds on the board first with his RBI single in the sixth inning. The hit scored Kentrail Davis, who reached base on balls and moved into scoring position on Eugenio Velez's single. Velez's grounder through the infield extended his season-best hit streak to 21 games, the longest by a Sounds batter this season. He has reached base in each of his last 35 games, which is the longest such stretch in the Pacific Coast League this year. Josh Prince doubled the Sounds lead with his two-out RBI single in the eighth inning, which followed an intentional walk to first baseman Hunter Morris. Velez, 3-for-5, scored on the play after landing a double just fair in shallow left field. In the seventh inning, Hainley Statia recorded his team-leading 10th pinch hit: a double to left field. He has more than half the team's 17 pinch hits this season and holds a .417 pinch-hit average (10-for-24). Iowa reliever Marcus Hatley (3-2) picked up the win after holding Nashville to one hit across their final two innings. He struck out three of his six batters faced. The Sounds play their final game of the season at 12:05 p.m. on Labor Day at Greer Stadium against the Iowa Cubs. Throwing for Nashville will be LHP Aaron Laffey (6-8, 6.52) opposite Iowa's RHP Kyle Hendricks (3-0, 2.38). 10. Sounds Treat South Nashville To 7-2 Win Nashville's Nelson Picks Up 5th Win; Blake Davis Homers Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/nDUVam1.jpg The Sounds honored 2013 LLWS participants South Nashville Little League (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Blake Davis Hit Two-Run Homer AUDIO: Jimmy Nelson's Sac-Bunt AUDIO: Hunter Morris RBI Double NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds treated South Nashville Little League and 8,004 fans to a 7-2 win over the visiting Iowa Cubs Saturday night at Greer Stadium. Prior to the game, the recent Little League World Series participants joined the Sounds on the field during the pregame festivities. The Sounds honored the team by wearing their Southeast Little League caps during the game. Nashville got on the board in the second inning courtesy of Blake Davis' home run over the right-field wall. The homer, Davis' second of the season, gave Nashville the 2-0 lead. Iowa cut into Nashville's lead in the third inning when Dave Sappelt scored on starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson's (5-6) throwing error. Nelson was trying to catch Sappelt stealing, but sailed the ball over third baseman Stephen Parker and into foul territory. Nelson returned the Sounds lead to two runs in the home half of the fourth inning by laying down a sacrifice bunt that scored Josh Prince from third base. Prince had reached base with a leadoff single, moved to second on Parker's sac-bunt and moved to third on a passed ball. Nelson picked up the win in his final start of the season, holding Iowa to two runs, one earned, on four hits over 5 2/3 innings pitched. The right-handed pitcher fired 10 strikeouts to match a career high. Tim Dillard closed out the sixth inning for Nelson. Hunter Morris connected for a double, his 50th extra-base hit of the season, in the fifth inning to score Eugenio Velez and give Nashville the 4-1 advantage. Velez, 2-for-5, hit a single in the first inning to extend his hit streak to 20 games. He has reached base in 34 consecutive games, extending the PCL's longest such streak of 2013. In the sixth inning, Kentrail Davis added a run to the Sounds lead with his RBI single into left field, scoring Parker. On the following play Sounds catcher Blake Lalli, who reached base on a pinch-hit double, scored on a sacrifice fly by Velez. The Sounds picked up their final run of the game in the seventh inning on Iowa's second error of the game. Attempting to throw out Robinzon Diaz at home plate, third baseman Mike Olt errantly threw past the catcher. Iowa starter Yoanner Negrin (4-7) was charged with the loss, surrendering two runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings pitched. Relievers Brent Leach, Johnnie Lowe, and Donovan Hand each pitched a scoreless inning for Nashville, combining to hold Iowa to two hits. Cubs infielder Tim Torres and manager Marty Pevey were ejected in the top of the second inning after Torres was called out on strikes. The Sounds will play their penultimate game of the season Sunday night at Greer Stadium against the Cubs. Throwing for Nashville will be LHP Zach Kroenke (5-16, 4.77) opposite Iowa's RHP Justin Grimm (3-3, 4.71). The Sounds will wear their military jerseys for Piedmont Natural Gas Military Sunday presented by Tennessee 811. Fans attending the game can bid on the jerseys in a silent auction during the game. 11. I like this addition for PIT. Morneau is a platoon-only bat at this point, but he can still hit righties. 2013 line v. RHP: .281/.343/.488/.831 (Career .891 to .711 v.RH/v.LH OPS split). Plus he's a solid defender at 1B. Add Morneau in a platoon with Gaby Sánchez (career .298/.396/.495/.891 line v. LHP, .980 OPS v. LHP this season), & all of a sudden the Buccos are getting good fielding & good hitting from 1B. I'm really rooting hard for the Pirates. I've definitely adopted them as my 'other' NL team over the past few seasons.

PCL Pitcher of the Year Johnny Hellweg (12-5) turned in a solid final start to close out his first Triple-A season, logging his team-leading 12th quality start to earn the victory. The fireballer allowed two runs on six hits over his six innings of work, walking two batters and striking out five. Hellweg posted a 3.15 ERA in his 23 starts for Nashville this season. Second baseman Eugenio Velez went 1-for-4 to extend his team-best hitting streak to 19 games and his on-base streak to a league-best 33 consecutive contests. The visitors took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning against Hellweg. Julio Borbon reached on a hustle double on a ball just past second base and later scored on former Sound Brad Nelson's two-out single to right. The Sounds knotted the score with a two-out knock of their own in the fifth. Josh Prince drew a walk, stole second, and came plateward on Blake Davis' single to right, Nashville's first hit of the night off I-Cubs starter Brooks Raley. Nelson (2-for-4) drove in his second run of the night for Iowa when he led off the sixth inning with an opposite-field solo homer to left off Hellweg. The slugger's team-leading 20th blast of the year gave the Cubs a short-lived 2-1 advantage. Nashville quickly took its first lead of the night in the home half of the frame, plating a pair off Iowa reliever Marcus Hatley. Velez got things started with an infield single and scored when Robinzon Diaz followed with a game-tying triple to the wall in left-center. Sean Halton put the home club in front, 3-2, with an RBI single to right. Hatley (2-2) drew the loss after suffering a blown save, allowing two runs in his lone frame of action. Jesus Sanchez followed Hellweg with two scoreless frames of relief before Dustin Molleken took over in the ninth. The right-hander allowed a two-out single before retiring Luis Flores on a game-ending flyout to earn his first save of the year. The teams continue the series with a 6:35 p.m. meeting on Saturday evening. Right-hander Jimmy Nelson (4-6, 3.94) will make the start for the Sounds and face Iowa right-hander Yoanner Negrin (4-6, 4.06). Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday

  15. Sounds Lose Series Finale 5-4 In Extras Nashville's Eugenio Velez Matches PCL's Season-Best On-Base Streak Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/tnzommA.jpg Eugenio Velez, archive photo (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) OKLAHOMA CITY - Despite having a lead in extra innings to put the pressure on the home team, the Nashville Sounds were unable to fight off the Oklahoma City RedHawks Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and lost the series finale 5-4 in the 14th inning. The teams split their final series of the season, 2-2. After tying the game at four runs apiece with two outs in the 12th inning, the RedHawks finished the job in the 14th when Jose Martinez hit the game-winning double down the left-field line to score infielder Raoul Torrez. The 14-inning contest is the deepest game the Sounds have played this season, having previously gone to the 12th inning in three games. Tied 3-3 in the 12th inning, Sounds infielder Eugenio Velez came up with an RBI single up the middle which scored Kentrail Davis, 4-for-7, for the go-ahead run. Unfortunately for Nashville, the RedHawks answered with a run in the bottom of the frame. Velez went 3-for-6 on the night and his single in the first inning extended his hit streak to a team season-best 18 games and improved his consecutive on-base streak to 32, which ties Sacramento's Daric Barton for the league's longest such streak this season. The Sounds jumped out to an early lead courtesy of five hits in the first inning. Outfielder Sean Halton drove in two runs with a ground rule double in center field and came around to score on Hunter Morris' single to shallow center. Morris finished the night 3-for-6. The RedHawks picked up a pair of runs in the home half of the fourth inning. Sounds starting pitcher Aaron Laffey allowed two leadoff singles to put runners on the corners and then chucked a wild pitch to give Oklahoma City their first run. Later Che-Hsuan Lin hit a deep fly ball to centerfield to score Japhet Amador on a sacrifice fly, cutting the Sounds lead to one. Laffey limited the RedHawks to two runs on four hits over six innings of work. His six-inning effort marks only the second time a Sounds starter has pitched that deep over the club's last 14 games. He struck out three and walked none to log his third quality start for Nashville. Reliever Kyle Heckathorn logged one scoreless inning on the bump for Nashville. Donovan Hand surrendered three consecutive singles to RedHawks batters to start the eighth inning; the last a weak grounder by George Springer that slipped into left field to score the game-tying run. Hand stayed in the game to deliver a scoreless ninth inning before Johnnie Lowe picked up in extras. Lowe pitched 2 2/3 innings for the Sounds and left the game in the 12th with a runner on second. Brent Leach (1-3) entered behind Lowe and allowed the runner to score on a base hit to send the game into the 13th inning. Leach finished the game for Nashville and was charged the loss, his third. Leach and Hand each were pegged with blown saves. Jason Stoffel (7-1) picked up the win for Oklahoma City, limiting Nashville to one run on four hits over three innings of relief. The Sounds return to Nashville for their final series of the season at Greer Stadium, where they will host the Iowa Cubs to a four-game set. Throwing for Nashville will be PCL Pitcher of the Year Johnny Hellweg (11-5, 3.16) opposite Iowa's LHP Brooks Raley (8-10, 4.56). The game will be followed by a postgame fireworks extravaganza and one lucky fan will win a pair of tickets to the 2013 SEC Football Championship courtesy of Dr. Pepper. Right-hander Alfredo Figaro (1-0) earned his first Triple-A win of the year for Nashville by allowing one run in his five innings of work, scattering four hits and inducing three double plays during his 73-pitch effort. The Sounds (54-85) struck first, plating a pair of runs in the top of the third against RedHawks starter Asher Wojciechowski. Hainley Statia drew an inning-opening walk and moved to third on a Josh Prince double before both runners scored when Velez extended Nashville's longest hit streak of the year to 17 games with a two-run single to center. Velez is batting .333 (25-for-75) during his hit streak and has also reached base safely in 31 straight contests, one shy of the longest such effort in the Pacific Coast League this season. Nashville tacked on a run in the fourth when Robinzon Diaz (2-for-5) singled with one out and later scored on a Hainley Statia fielder's choice grounder. Wojciechowski (9-7) absorbed the loss for the 'Hawks after allowing three runs on six hits in his 4 2/3 frames of action. Oklahoma City netted its first run in the home half of the fourth when Figaro uncorked a two-out wild pitch to allow Brandon Laird to race plateward. The Sounds increased their advantage to 4-1 in the sixth against RedHawks reliever Hector Ambriz. Blake Lalli (3-for-4) led off with an infield single and moved to third on a Diaz double before scoring on a Stephen Parker groundout. Nashville kept the offense churning in the seventh with a pair of two-out scores off Wade LeBlanc. After the first two batters of the frame were retired, Sean Halton singled before scoring on an opposite-field RBI double into the left field corner by Hunter Morris (2-for-4), who extended his hitting streak to six games (11-for-24, .458). Lalli followed Morris with a run-scoring single that made it a 6-1 contest. Dustin Molleken was solid in relief behind Figaro, allowing just one single and striking out a pair of batters during three scoreless frames of work. Jesus Sanchez made things interesting in the ninth, opening the frame with a warning track flyout before permitting a pair of baserunners. The right-hander recovered to retired the final two batters to escape the jam and close out the win with a scoreless frame. The Sounds will look to secure just their third winning road series of the year when the teams wrap up the four-game series with a 7:05 p.m. finale on Thursday night. Left-hander Aaron Laffey (6-8, 6.82) will man the bump for the Sounds and face Oklahoma City right-hander Bobby Doran (3-0, 3.96). Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday

Nashville's Morris Goes Yard In Loss; Velez Streaks to 16 Prince Homers, Velez Extends Pair Of Streaks For Nashville Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/tnzommA.jpg Eugenio Velez, archive photo (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) OKLAHOMA CITY - The Nashville Sounds came up one run short in Tuesday night's contest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, losing 5-4 to the Oklahoma City RedHawks, who claimed the American Southern Division and a postseason berth as a result. Down 4-1, the Sounds strung together a two-run two-out rally in the sixth inning courtesy of a triple from Nashville second baseman Eugenio Velez, 2-for-4. Velez's extra-base knock extended his hit streak to 16 games, the longest by a Sounds batter this season, and scored Hainley Statia, 2-for-3, who dropped a ball just fair for a single to lead off the inning. Velez scored the second run of the inning on a passed ball charged to Carlos Perez to pull with one of Oklahoma City. Trailing by two in the eighth inning, Velez produced another two-out RBI knock for Nashville to again pull within one of the RedHawks. Unfortunately for the Sounds, his single into right field that scored Statia marked the team's final run. Sounds first baseman Hunter Morris put the team up 1-0 in the second inning with his 23rd home run of the season. The Sounds have recorded a home run in each of their last seven games to match the club's longest stretch this season, previously occurring from July 3 to 10. The RedHawks worked four of their runs off Sounds starting pitcher Zach Kroenke (5-16). Outfielder George Springer led off the third inning with a triple and was driven home by Brandon Laird's single. Kroenke surrendered another single in the frame before walking the bases loaded. He proceeded to deliver a bases-loaded walk to give Oklahoma City the go-ahead run. A sacrifice fly from Marc Krauss in the fourth and Japhet Amador's RBI-single in the fifth put the RedHawks out to a 4-1 lead. Oklahoma City's Jimmy Paredes singled in the seventh inning off of Sounds reliever Tim Dillard, who logged to innings out of the Nashville bullpen. Paredes stole second base, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a chopped ground out towards third base for the RedHawks final run. Travis Webb also pitched for Nashville, twirling a perfect sixth inning. Oklahoma City's Eric Berger (6-3) picked up the win, holding Nashville to one run on two hits over five innings of work. Jorge De Leon notched the save, his sixth. The Sounds will play their penultimate road game of the season Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City RedHawks at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Throwing for Nashville will be RHP Alfredo Figaro (0-0, 3.38) opposite Oklahoma City's RHP Asher Wojciechowski (9-6, 3.48). With the win, the Sounds (53-84) snapped Oklahoma City's 17-game home winning streak and posted back-to-back road victories for just the fifth time all season. Nashville rapped out 15 hits but also left a season-high 16 runners on base on the night. Josh Prince homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Sounds, while red-hot Eugenio Velez went 3-for-6 to extend a pair of streaks, moving his team-best hitting streak to 15 games and his on-base streak to 29 games. Velez is batting .333 (22-for-66) during his 15-game hit streak, the longest by a Sound all season. Nashville jumped out to a 4-0 lead by batting around in the top of the third against RedHawks starter Ross Seaton. Prince spotted the Sounds a 1-0 lead when he led off the frame with his 11th homer of the year, a deep drive to left off Seaton. The rally continued against Seaton as Velez followed with a double to right and Sean Halton drew a walk. Two batters later, Blake Lalli cracked an RBI single to right to up the Nashville advantage to 2-0. Catcher Anderson De La Rosa (4-for-5) dumped a single to shallow left to bring home Halton for a three-run cushion and Stephen Parker plated Lalli with a groundout to make it a 4-0 contest. Oklahoma City got onto the board in the home half of the fourth. Jimmy Paredes drew a one-out walk and later scored on Jonathan Singleton's one-out single to center off Jimmy Nelson. The Nashville right-hander limited the damage in the frame after facing a one-out, bases-loaded jam. Nelson (4-6) snapped a two-start losing streak by earning the win for Nashville by limiting the RedHawks to one run on five hits while fanning seven batters over five frames of action, a 101-pitch effort. Seaton (3-7) took the loss after being tagged for four runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings of work. The Sounds had runners in scoring position with less than two outs in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings, but they were unable to add to their lead until the ninth. Brent Leach worked a pair of scoreless relief frames for Nashville, recording strikeouts for five of his six outs recorded, before Kyle Heckathorn escaped a jam in the eighth. With runners on second and third and two down, he retired Trevor Crowe, the potential tying run, on a hard-hit liner to center to quell the threat. In the top of the ninth, Nashville tacked on two insurance runs against Hector Ambriz to extend the lead to 6-1. Lalli and De La Rosa opened the frame with consecutive singles and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Parker grounded an RBI single through the right side of the infield to bring in Lalli for a 5-1 lead. Following a Hainley Statia strikeout, Kentrail Davis drew a walk to load the bags for Prince, who brought in De La Rosa with a single to left on a 1-2 offering. The Sounds were unable to do any further damage, however, stranding the bases full for the third time as the final two batters of the frame were retired. In the bottom of the ninth, Heckathorn remained on the hill for Nashville and ran into trouble again. The RedHawks loaded the bases with no outs before the right-hander fanned Paredes and popped up Japhet Amador for the first two outs. Singleton followed with a two-run single to center that drew Oklahoma City to within 6-3. Travis Webb was summoned from the Sounds' bullpen and the southpaw retired Marc Krauss, the potential tying run, on a first-pitch flyout to earn his first save of the year and the second save of his eight-year pro career. The teams continue the series with another 7:05 p.m. meeting on Tuesday. Left-hander Zach Kroenke (5-15, 4.67) will toe the slab for the Sounds and face a yet-to-be-determined Oklahoma City hurler. 22. Braun's issue at third was throwing. He wouldn't have to do that much at 1B. I definitely remember it being kind of a sucking-at-everything-on-defense issue at 3B for Ryan.
  23. So what's the proper tag team (nick)name for the Nelson/Pena twin-bill? Downhill Speedwagon? Speedwagon Thunder? Thunder Speedwagon?

Sounds Avoid Sweep With 10-5 Win In Finale Nashville's Stephen Parker Goes 3-For-5, A Single Shy Of Cycle Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/FvTjuQs.jpg Stephen Parker, archive photo (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Nashville Sounds avoided a five-game series sweep and snapped a seven-game losing streak by defeating the Albuquerque Isotopes, 10-5, in the series finale Sunday night at Isotopes Park, highlighted by a 3-for-5 effort by third baseman Stephen Parker. With the rain coming down in the sixth inning of a tie game, Parker delivered the go-ahead run for Nashville via the long ball. The solo shot to dead center field marked Parker's eighth home run of the season and put the Sounds ahead 5-4. In the following inning with the bases-loaded, Parker lifted a pitch from reliever Blake Johnson (6-6) to left-center field for a bases-clearing three-run triple to put the game out of reach for the home team. Parker finished with four RBIs, two runs, and a single shy of the cycle. Johnson was charged the loss, allowing Nashville five runs on five hits over two innings of work. The Sounds initially trailed 1-0, but broke away with four runs in the in the fifth inning. Parker doubled to start the frame, and Sounds starting pitcher Johnny Hellweg helped his own cause with an RBI-single up the middle. Nashville continued to work the bases loaded and with two outs before Sean Halton drew a walk from 'Topes tosser Matt Palmer to give Nashville the 2-1 advantage. First baseman Hunter Morris doubled the Sounds score with a single to right-center field. The 'Topes got on the board in the first inning with an RBI-double from former Sound Tony Gwynn Jr., scoring Dee Gordon. Hellweg ended his 33-pitch first inning by getting Brian Barden to strike out with the bases loaded. Hellweg was faced with a similar two-out bases-loaded situation in the bottom of the fifth inning, but this time Barden connected for a bases-clearing triple to knot the game at four runs apiece, which ended Hellweg's night at 111 pitches, the most by a Sounds starter this season. Hellweg racked up seven strikeouts to six walks, both matching season highs, before Donovan Hand (3-1) took over to close out the fifth inning for Nashville. Hand stayed in the game to deliver a total of 2 1/3 scoreless innings for his third win. He struck out three and walked one. Dustin Molleken also saw work from the Sounds bullpen, loading the bases in the eighth before recording his first outs on a double-play in which the 'Topes picked up a run. He finished the game for Nashville. Sounds infielder Eugenio Velez, 2-for-3, connected for a single in the first to extend his season-best hit streak to 14 games, which matches Parker's team season-high that he record from April 28 to May 11. Nashville scored their 10th run when Sean Halton grounded into a double play in the eighth inning; Kentrail Davis, 2-for-4, scored from third. The Sounds begin their final road series of the season Monday night against the Oklahoma City RedHawks at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Throwing for Nashville will be RHP Jimmy Nelson (3-6, 4.09) opposite Oklahoma City's RHP Ross Seaton (3-6, 8.15). Baseball returns to Greer Stadium on Friday, August 30, for the team's final homestand of the season. Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday
