Meh, it's probably more like 25% of the time. -
Ok, so he's not a current big-league player. But he's a big league impersonator! You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't check out Tim Dillard's recent interview with Sounds radio announcer/beat writer Jeff Hem. Well, it's a panel interview... kind of. As originally noted by the spectacular Mass Haas, Jeff caught up with Tim & the rest of the panel yesterday before game-time.

Really hope the Brewers can find a place for him after his playing days are done. Such a funny dude bro. Earlier this season (right after Dillard set the Sounds' career wins record), Jeff mentioned that he had plans for another Dillard interview. Totally delivered. I was in tears at a couple points. You have to accrue six full seasons of major league service time to become a free agent, so they still hold his rights for six more years. And a "full season", as defined by MLB, equals 172 days or more of service time in a single season -- each season has a total of 183 potential days of service time.

I'm surprised I/we missed this all season, but the Sounds have their own Instagram account. Some fun pictures there, including this 2012 Elvis Night promo shot of Logan Schafer. Don't be cruel, click the links & check out their pics!

Final: @Albuquerque 12, Nashville 7 Five Nashville players had multi-hit nights, & every position player in the lineup recorded a hit, but even that wasn't enough offense to overcome the Isotopes in this one. A near hour and a half rain delay complicated things in this fourth game of the five-game series. Starter Aaron Laffey was touched for 8 runs (all earned) on 11 hits over 4 innings. The Sounds actually ran out to a 4-2 lead after adding 1 run in the top of the 3rd to the 3 they'd scored in the 1st. Unfortunately, that didn't last long. Albuquerque tied the game in the home half of the 3rd & effectively chased Laffey with 4 more in the 4th. Nashville scored in both the 7th & 8th innings, but the Isotopes answered in both frames -- and even managed to extend their margin to 5 runs before this one concluded. Eugenio Velez kept his hitting streak alive -- now at 13 games -- with a 2-5 night that included the Sounds' only HR. Kentrail Davis, Blake Lalli, Josh Prince, & pinch-hitter Robinzon Diaz each joined Velez with 1 RBI apiece. Blake Davis's 7th inning double was the only other extra-base hit for the Sounds. 5 of Nashville's 7 runs were plated by means other than hits. Unfortunately, what that also means is that the Sounds squandered several chances to score a lot more. Reliever Johnnie Lowe kept the Isotopes off the scoreboard in the 5th & 6th innings, facing one hitter over the minimum. He was basically the lone bright spot in terms of pitching last night. The Sounds travel on to Oklahoma City (HOU affiliate) for a 4-game series starting Monday, before returning home for their final 4 games of the season (against the Iowa Cubs). Nashville Box K. Sounds Fall 9-5 Out West Blake Davis Goes 2-for-4 In First Game Off D.L. Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/sr12PWS.jpg Blake Davis, archive photo (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Blake Davis' Two-Run Triple AUDIO: Stephen Parker's Sac-Fly AUDIO: Kentrail Davis Hits First Triple-A Home Run ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Nashville Sounds never recovered from a six-run second inning Thursday night at Isotopes Park, losing 9-5 to the Albuquerque Isotopes. After a perfect first inning, Sounds starter Zach Kroenke (5-15) ran into trouble in the second. The lefty, making the spot start for Chris Narveson, loaded the bases for Albuquerque's infielder Justin Sellers, who hit a triple past a diving Kentrail Davis in center field to put the 'Topes up three. Dee Gordon kept the inning alive with a two-out RBI-single into right field, scoring Sellers to give Albuquerque a 4-0 lead. Gordon moved to third on Elian Herrera's single and came home when Scott Van Slyke sent Kroenke's pitch to the hill in center field for a two-run double. Kroenke was charged his league-leading 15th loss, finishing with six runs allowed on eight hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings pitched. The lefty fanned four Isotopes before reliever Johnnie Lowe took over to close out the sixth. Isotopes' starting pitcher Red Patterson (7-4) served up a quality start for his seventh win of the season, limiting the Sounds to just three hits over six innings of work. He held Nashville hitless through 4 2/3 innings, including a stretch of 12 consecutive batters retired before Sounds shortstop Blake Davis broke through with a single into left field. Blake Davis' hit extends his hit streak to eight games, which matches his previous season-best recorded from April 28 to May 9. Patterson left the game after six innings and the Sounds took advantage of the change, jumping on reliever Blake Johnson for four runs in the seventh. Blake Davis, 2-for-4, got the Sounds on the board first with a two-run triple into right field and then scored on Stephen Parker's pinch-hit sacrifice fly. With two outs in the inning Kentrail Davis, 2-for-4, belted his first home run as a Sound to make it a 6-4 game. Kentrail Davis' solo shot snapped a personal stretch of 224 at-bats without a homer and a three-game team draught. Despite the rally, the Isotopes pulled away in the home half of the seventh inning, when Eliezer Alfonzo hit a three-run two-out home run off of Sounds reliever Travis Webb for a 9-4 lead. Robinzon Diaz, 2-for-4, scored the Sounds final run of the game in the eighth inning when Kelvin De La Cruz chucked a wild pitch with runners on the corners. Diaz reached base on a single and moved to third on catcher Blake Lalli's second hit of the night. Outfielder Sean Halton, back from his second stint in Milwaukee, picked up a double in the sixth inning to give him his fourth hit streak of five games or more this season. Infielder Eugenio Velez extended his season-best hit streak to 11 games with a single in the seventh inning. The Sounds play game three on Friday night at Isotopes Park and send RHP Alfredo Figaro (0-0, 2.25) to the hill opposite Albuquerque's RHP Angel Castro (8-4, 3.54). Baseball returns to Greer Stadium on Friday, August 30, for the team's final homestand of the season. Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday

That is one loooonnnng swing. If he can shorten that stroke up as he progresses, the Cubs will (infortunately) have a very nice hitter on their hands.

Do you genuinely believe that they will be contenders next season? If not, I don't see what would be gained from sticking with Aramis. If the team isn't contending & they could get a decent prospect in return, that makes sense to me -- not to mention moving (some or all of) his salary. $16M ($20M, including the $4M buyout of his 2015 mutual option) is no pedestrian sum for a club like the Brewers, and frankly I'd find it pretty negligent of management to keep that kind of salary for an older player on the books for a non-contending club. ~30 IP of K-Rod brought back a legit prospect, & I'm confident a full season of Ramírez would at least equal that return.

Sounds Drop Series Finale To Express, 7-5 Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/zcGOjMK.jpg Eugenio Velez, archive photo... from yesterday (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Eugenio Velez Sacrifice Fly AUDIO: Stephen Parker RBI Single AUDIO: Blake Lalli RBI Ground-Rule Double ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Nashville Sounds began their final road trip of the year on a down note, falling 5-3 to Albuquerque on Wednesday evening at Isotopes Park in the opener of a five-game series. The defeat was the fifth in the past six games for Nashville (50-82). The Sounds got off to a quick start, plating a run in the top of the first inning against Matt Magill. Kentrail Davis (3-for-4) led off with a triple to center that snapped an 18 at-bat hitless stretch for the outfielder and scored when Eugenio Velez followed with a sacrifice fly. Albuquerque pulled ahead, 2-1, in the home half of the second when Drew Butera lifted a two-out fly ball to right that was misjudged by Josh Prince, resulting in a go-ahead, two-run triple that plated Alex Castellanos (hit by pitch) and Brian Barden (single), who each had reached with two down. The 'Topes added to their lead in the third with three more two-out scores against Jimmy Nelson. Elian Herrera doubled and Scott Van Slyke drew a two-out walk to put two runners on for Matt Angle, who ripped an RBI double off the left field wall for the first run. Castellanos followed with a two-run single up the middle that made it a 5-1 contest. Nashville loaded the bases with one out against Magill in the fourth but netted only one run against the right-hander on Stephen Parker's RBI single, which pulled the Sounds within a 5-2 margin. Ozzie Chavez and Nelson struck out in succession to close out the frame. The Sounds continued to mount the comeback in the fifth, netting another run against Magill. Davis and Hunter Morris each singled and were on the corners with two down for [blake] Lalli, who smashed an opposite-field fly ball to left-center that hopped over the wall for a ground-rule double in a bit of bad luck. Without bouncing out of play, both Morris and Prince would have likely scored on the RBI two-bagger. Magill (5-1) hurled a quality start to pick up the win for the Isotopes, holding the Sounds to three runs on eight hits while striking out nine batters during his six innings of work. Nelson (3-6) drew a loss for the second straight outing for Nashville after giving up five runs on six hits over six frames. All five runs plated with two outs against the right-hander. Onelki Garcia worked two scoreless frames for Albuquerque before Javy Guerra took over in the ninth and ran into trouble. The Sounds put the potential tying run on base in the final frame after Davis dribbled an infield single with two outs and Velez followed with a single to right to extend his season-best hitting streak and on-base streaks to 10 games and 24 games, respectively. Guerra recovered to strike out Morris to quell the threat and nail down his ninth save of the year. The teams continue the series with another 7:35 p.m. CT contest on Thursday night. Left-hander Zach Kroenke (5-14, 4.41) will man the bump for the Sounds to face Albuquerque right-hander Red Patterson (6-4, 3.35). Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday

Agreed, MNShady. He reminds me of Prince, defensively. Not very athletic or skilled, and not the appearance of much effort being put forth to improve. And imo this has zero to do with him having never really played 1B before. How & why clubs stuck with him at 3B as long as they did is a complete head-scratcher to me, because he's terrible there. Just a bad defensive player all-around.

Sounds Drop Series Finale To Express, 7-5 Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/zcGOjMK.jpg Eugenio Velez (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds fell 7-5 to the Round Rock Express on Tuesday evening at Greer Stadium in the finale of a five-game series. Nashville (51-80), which held a 5-1 lead in the fifth before Round Rock plated six unanswered runs, lost four of five to the Express in the series. Round Rock grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning against Johnny Hellweg. Alex Buchholz (4-for-5) doubled to right and came around to score on Jim Adduci's two-out RBI infield single. The Sounds jumped out to a 5-1 advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning, sending 10 men to the plate to post a five-spot against Express starter Ryan Feierabend. Eugenio Velez, who extended his season-best hitting streak to nine games with a 2-for-4 effort, led off with a single to left, moved to second on a Caleb Gindl single, advanced to third on an error by Round Rock shortstop Guilder Rodriguez, and scored the tying run on a passed ball. Hunter Morris put Nashville into the lead with an RBI single and the Sounds added additional runs in the inning on run-scoring singles from Stephen Parker and Josh Prince as well as an RBI groundout off the bat of Kentrail Davis. Velez is batting .381 (32-for-84) in his last 23 contests, reaching base in all of them. Gindl's fourth-inning single extended the outfielder's longest hit streak of the year to 11 games (16-for-45, .356). Round Rock got three runs back from Hellweg in the fifth to pull back within a run at 5-4. The Express drew a pair of walks sandwiched around a Joey Butler double before Hellweg uncorked a wild pitch to bring in a run. Following a strikeout, Robinson Chirinos dribbled a run-scoring infield single up the third base line, which chased the right-hander from the contest. The third Express run came with reliever Jesus Sanchez on the hill on Rodriguez's two-out RBI single. Hellweg did not factor in the decision after allowing four runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 frames of work. He threw a Sounds season-high 112 pitches in the contest, issuing a season-high six walks to go along with five strikeouts. Rehabbing left-hander Michael Kirkman (1-2), who retired 15 of his 16 batters faced to close out the game for Round Rock, picked up the victory with five hitless innings of work for the Express, fanning seven Sounds in the outing. Morris was robbed of his team-leading 23rd homer of the year in the sixth when Joey Butler reached above the 6-foot high right field wall to make a catch. The visitors pulled back in front, 6-5, in the sixth on Aaron Cunningham's two-out, two-run triple to right-center off Sanchez, who suffered his third blown save of the year. Round Rock added an insurance run in the seventh against Sanchez on Adduci's sacrifice fly. Sanchez (4-3) took the loss after giving up three runs in his 2 2/3 innings of work. Right-handed reliever Dustin Molleken continued to impress for the Sounds, working two scoreless frames. In five appearances for Nashville, the fireballer has allowed only one hit and posted nine strikeouts in his 7.0 scoreless innings. The Sounds embark upon their final road trip of the season on Wednesday, when they travel to Albuquerque (AAA-Dodgers) for the 7:35 p.m. CT opener of a five-game series. Right-hander Jimmy Nelson (3-5, 3.78) will toe the slab for Nashville to face Isotopes right-hander Matt Magill (4-1, 3.04). Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday

Sounds Allow Franchise-Most 20 Runs In Loss Nashville's Caleb Gindl Prevents Shut Out With Two-Out Knock Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/24mbnvE.jpg Caleb Gindl (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Caleb Gindl's Two-Run Single NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds surrendered the most runs in the franchise's 36-year history Monday night at Greer Stadium, losing 20-2 to the visiting Round Rock Express. The Sounds previous high of 19 runs allowed, which happened on four occasions, was surpassed in the eighth inning when Aaron Cunningham hit his second home run of the night, a two-run jack off the clock in the guitar scoreboard. The 20-2 loss is the largest margin of defeat for Nashville since joining the PCL in 1998. The Sounds 18-1 loss to the Memphis Redbirds on July 30, 2000 at Greer Stadium was the previous largest. To begin the record-setting night, the Express batted around in three consecutive innings to go up 14-2 on the Sounds before the fifth inning. Round Rock had four runs in the second and five in both the third and fourth. Sounds starting pitcher Aaron Laffey (6-7) allowed the Express 11 runs in 3 1/3 innings of work, for the most allowed by a Sounds starter this season. The lefty was touched for 11 hits, and issued four walks on the night. Reliever Tim Dillard picked up in the fourth inning, retiring his first batter with a strikeout before surrendering four two-out runs, one of which was charged to Laffey. He finished with three runs on three hits after 1 2/3 innings. Outfielder Engle Beltre, 4-for-7, added to the Express lead in the seventh inning, touching reliever Brent Leach for a grand slam, the first allowed by Nashville pitchers since Adron Chambers hit one in Memphis on July 7. Right-handed pitcher Donovan Hand closed out the final two innings for Nashville, but was on the hill when Cunningham drove in Round Rock's final two runs. Every player in the Express lineup recorded a hit on the night and either scored a run or drove in a run. Seven Express batters recorded multi-hit nights and four had three hits or more. Cunningham and Beltre led the team with five RBIs each, Robinson Chirinos had four. Offensively, the Sounds recorded four hits. Outfielder Caleb Gindl's two-out single plated two runs for the Sounds. The knock scored Stephen Parker, who reached base on balls, and Ozzie Chavez, who singled to right. Gindl's hit extended his season-best hit streak to a 10 games, dating back to July 7 before his big league call-up. It is the sixth time a Sound has logged a 10+ game hit streak this season. Round Rock's starting pitcher Evan Meek (6-7) picked up his sixth win, holding Nashville to two runs across six innings of work. Second baseman Eugenio Velez also recorded a hit in the third inning, extending his streak to eight games, which matches his previous season's best. Robinzon Diaz connected for a double in the ninth inning to snap Round Rock's run of 17 consecutive batters retired. The Sounds wrap their homestand with the Round Rock Express on Tuesday night at Greer Stadium. Throwing for Nashville will be RHP Johnny Hellweg (11-5, 2.77) opposite the Express' LHP Ryan Feierabend (6-4, 3.70). Nashville Box Nashville PbP Nashville Gameday

Sounds Fall To Express In 10 Innings, 8-6 Velez, Gindl Homer For Nashville In Losing Effort Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/FhaEedV.jpg Eugenio Velez (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Round Rock Express rallied from a mid-game four-run deficit to eventually hang an 8-6, 10-inning defeat on the Nashville Sounds on Sunday evening at Greer Stadium. Nashville (51-78), which led 5-1 entering the sixth inning, fell to 1-7 in extra-inning play this season (0-4 at home). In the decisive tenth frame, Round Rock loaded the bases with no outs on a walk sandwiched by a pair of singles against Travis Webb. Engel Beltre delivered a go-ahead RBI single to center before Alex Buchholz chased Webb with an RBI groundout that gave the Express an 8-6 lead. Express closer Cory Burns worked into and out of a jam in the bottom of the tenth to close out the victory. Caleb Gindl drew a leadoff walk and moved to third when Robinzon Diaz followed with a double, putting the potential tying run at second with no outs. Burns recovered to strike out Hunter Morris and Hainley Statia in succession before retiring Blake Lalli on a game-ending groundout to nail down his 19th save of the year. Ben Rowan (2-1) was awarded the victory for Round Rock despite suffering a blown save in the contest. Webb (2-5) drew the loss for Nashville after allowing the go-ahead scores in his two innings of action. Right-hander Alfredo Figaro made his Sounds debut and turned in a good effort. He worked four-plus innings, allowing one run on five hits with three walks issued and four strikeouts while throwing 72 pitches in the outing. Round Rock took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning against Figaro. Former Brewers farmhand Guilder Rodriguez doubled and scored on Jim Adduci's two-out single to center. Second baseman Eugenio Velez powered the Sounds to a 2-1 lead in the home half of the frame when he drilled his first home run as a member of the team, a two-out, two-run drive to right off Josh Lindblom. Kentrail Davis, who drew a two-out walk preceding Velez, also scored on the blast. Velez has reached base in 21 straight contests, hitting .382 (29-for-76) over that span. Gindl kept the one-run lead intact in the fourth when he threw out Joey Butler at the plate as he attempted to score from second on Mike Bianucci's one-out single to right. It was Gindl's team-leading eighth outfield assist of the year and fifth at the plate. Gindl continued his strong night in the fifth when he upped the Nashville lead to 5-1 with a three-run homer to right off Lindblom. Josh Prince (2-for-4) and Stephen Parker, who had each singled earlier in the frame, also scored on the two-out blast, Gindl's 11th big fly of the season. The roundtripper extended his longest hitting streak of the season to nine games (14-for-37, .378). Round Rock got a pair of runs back in the sixth against reliever Zach Kroenke to pull within 5-3. Bianucci ripped an RBI single and Jared Hoying laced a run-scoring double to right during the frame. The Express rallied to grab a 6-5 lead in the eighth by plating four runs off Johnnie Lowe. Catcher Zach Zaneski, batting .071 entering the at-bat, delivered the game-tying blow, a bases-loaded two-run single to center. After an intentional walk reloaded the bags, Webb took over on the hill for the Sounds and was greeted by a go-ahead sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Beltre. Two of the three runs in the inning, including the go-ahead score, were unearned following a fielding error by Prince at shortstop. The back-and-forth affair continued in the bottom of the eighth as the Sounds squared the contest at six all on Statia's two-out RBI double into the left field corner off Rowen, which plated Diaz. The team continue their series with a 7:05 p.m. contest on Monday night. Left-hander Aaron Laffey (6-6, 5.53) will make the start for the Sounds and face Round Rock right-hander Evan Meek (5-7, 3.79).
