  1. I read awhile that he was no longer a vegetarian but he'll only eat certain meats.
  2. UPDATE: JEFFRESS' AGENT, JOSH KUSNICK, CONFIRMS JEFFRESS' SUSPENSION: Reached by telephone, Jeffress' agent, Josh Kusnick (Agent39 here on BF.net) , reluctantly confirmed the positive test. "I'm sure it's aleady getting around the ballpark in Brevard County," said Kusnick. "All I'll say is it was not a performance-enhancing drug. We all know the issue Jeremy has had in the past. "He obviously has a very sensitive issue he has to overcome. This is all about Jeremy now. This is a problem that goes beyond his career. It's more important to get the person fixed. "Jeremy is destroyed by this. He knows what he did is wrong and is incredibly remorseful. We're hoping people support him during this difficult time." Kusnick said plans are being put together to get Jeffress into a treatment program for his abuse problem.
  3. Right-hander Jeremy Jeffress, rated by many as the top pitching prospect in the Brewers' farm system, has drawn a 100-game suspension for testing positive for a second time for a "substance of abuse." The penalty leaves Jeffress, 21, one positive test away from a lifetime ban under the Minor League Drug Treatment and Prevention program. rest of article @ http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/49267777.html
  4. I smiled the day the Cubs signed Bradley. January 8th, a day that will live in infamy (for Cubs fans!)
  5. Cubs catcher Geovany Soto tested positive for marijuana while playing for Puerto Rico during the World Baseball Classic last March, the International Baseball Federation announced Thursday. Soto released a statement saying he was "embarrassed by my lapse in judgment." "While I full acknowledge my inappropriate behavior, I want to assure my fans and my family that this was an isolated incident," he said. Soto will be banned from international play for two years, but the positive drug test does not have any impact on his major league availability. The Cubs released an unsigned statement indicating Soto has been drug tested regularly and this was the only positive test. "Geovany assured the organization this was an isolated incident and a misstep in judgment that will not be repeated," the statement said. "Though surprised and disappointed, the club supports Geovany as he takes responsibility for his actions and accepts the consequences." Soto is expected to address the media after the game. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2009/06/geovany-soto-failed-drug-test-during-world-baseball-classic.html
  6. Watching BBTN and they just showed Pujols watch his HR from the box. But it was simply amazing, not disrespectful.
  7. Braves top prospect Tommy Hansen is also reportedly going to get the call up to start against the Brewers too.
  8. Jordan Zimmermann of the Nationals. Born in Auburndale, WI and went to UW-Stevens Point. Drafted in the 2nd round of the 2007 draft and made his major league debut about a month ago.

  11. In other transactions RHP Mark Rogers, the Brewers' first-round pick in the 2004 draft, was optioned to Class A Brevard County.

  14. I bumped in Ned Yost at the unemployment line.
  15. I live in Appleton so it was always easier to follow the Packers than the Brewers. But I started to follow the Brewers around the time that they drafted Prince and even more closely when they drafted Braun because my mom's maiden name is Braun. Honestly it was the farm system that did it for me. I've always liked to follow prospects in the NFL and such so when the Brewers farm system started to fill up with talent it was nice to follow them up to the bigs.
  16. To prevent the abuse of the Rule 5 draft, the rule also states that the draftee must be active for at least 90 days. This keeps teams from drafting players, then placing them on the disabled list for the majority of the season. For example, if a Rule 5 draftee was only active for 67 days in his first season with his new club, he must be active for an additional 23 games in his second season to satisfy the Rule 5 requirements. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ed_before_start_of_season
  17. Great work as usual guys. I always enjoy reading these and scrolling through the Power 50.

  19. That argument has been brought up before Doc and the main point to go along with Sota's bat is that he was a rookie calling pitches for one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball. I don't think anybody is suprised by the winners (especially in the AL) and the lack of responses in this thread are clear evidence of that.
  20. The Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers have lured Mike Maddux away from the Brewers to become their pitching coach. Maddux became a free agent after the World Series, and while the Brewers wanted him back, it sounds like the Rangers, who probably have the game's highest-paid hitting coach in Rudy Jaramillo, stepped in with a big offer. It could prove to be a very nice pickup for the Rangers. Maddux to the Rangers (sp in link -TC)

  22. I agree. I also read that the Angel's aren't going to pay the 5 years $75 million that K-Rod wants. Jon Garland is also likely gone and if the Yankee's go after Mark Teixeira then suddenly the Angel's have the means to go after CC. Granted they can't offer CC AB's though but money talks.
  23. Wow thats a little suprising considering the dispute with LIN TV and Time Warner Cable. I wasn't even able to watch the Packers game due to the lack on an analog signal and even if I could I'd much rather watch the Brewers in the playoffs rather than the 5th of the 16 Packers games.
