  1. I would be estatic if the Brewers fielded a team in Appleton. I haven't been to a T'rats game in years mainly because like other have said, I don't follow the Mariners. Also the Mariners tend to bypass their top prospects quickly to their AAA team in Tacoma, WA. A-Rod was only in Appleton (Foxes) for a little over a week, Felix Hernandez split time in A, and Jeff Clement/Adam Jones were only here a little while too. Other than that they fielded a team of career minor league players.
  2. Sweet Lou Palmisano DFA'd Edit: Added link. - Toby
  3. Jeffress got promoted to Huntsville. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080806&content_id=3263103&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  4. Maybe Dana Eveland is coming back http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  5. CV comes in 24 pitches too late.. Heck, why not throw Mota out there instead?
  6. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=772053 Lawrie on hold: For the first time in Jack Zduriencik's nine years as scouting director, the Brewers' first-round pick won't sign in time to play pro ball this summer. Brett Lawrie, a prep catcher from British Columbia, joined the Canadian Junior National team on Sunday to begin preparing for the world tournament later in the month in Edmonton, Alberta. Lawrie, 18, also has been selected to play for the Canadian Olympic team that will compete in August in Beijing. That would preclude Lawrie from playing pro ball this year. "We'd like to have him but we knew this was going to happen," said Zduriencik, who attended the Futures Game. "But he's playing and playing at a high level. It's a big event for him and a wonderful thing to participate in. "His agent is very positive about him wanting to be a Brewer. We're going to be supportive and watch him play. We'll have somebody there for all of his games." The deadline for signing 2008 draft picks is Aug. 15. Because of Lawrie's national commitments, negotiations probably will not be concluded until that day or just before. "Talks have been positive and cordial," Zduriencik said. "The sooner we get him signed, the better for us. I think we're going to be fine. He wants to be a Brewer." Based on the signings of draft picks above and below the 16th spot in which Lawrie was selected, he figures to get a signing bonus of about $1.6 million or $1.7 million. The Brewers already have paid $4,360,000 to the other five picks they had through the second round: supplemental first-rounders Jake Odorizzi ($1.06 million) and Evan Frederickson ($1.01 million), and second-rounders Seth Lintz ($900,000), Cutter Dykstra ($737,000) and Cody Adams ($653,000). Toss in the cost of signing Lawrie and the price tag comes to about $6 million to ink those six early selections.
  7. Weeks has to be up soon, doesn't he? I thought that he could only spend so many days in the minors before it counted towards a used option.
  8. The Padres plan to cut ties with veteran left-hander David Wells on Thursday. According to a major-league source, Wells, 44, will be designated for assignment and simultaneously placed on release waivers, giving the Padres three days to trade him. Wells is owed just slightly under $1 million for the rest of the season and is earning approximately $170,000 per start in incentive bonuses. He could appeal to another contender in need of starting pitching, including possibly the Padres' NL West rivals, the Dodgers. However, Wells has pitched poorly in his last four starts, going 0-3 with a 14.33 ERA during that stretch. He also has rankled commissioner Bud Selig with his recent comments about umpires. The departure of Wells will coincide with the return of right-hander Chris Young from the 15-day disabled list. If this is the end for Wells, he will head off into retirement with a career mark of 235-156. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7104100?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49
  9. I saw it as well. Its just to promote baseball and the playoffs. They had a few other ones like that with other teams in it. It was definetly nice to see the Crew in one of them though.
  10. I have the cure for what ails you. www.signgenerator.net/fla...%21&text2= Enjoy!
  11. Yeah I saw that too. It was pretty hilarious. I wish that these media outlets would be more subjective based instead of picking teams. Soon to be 5-2 since the All Star break. Some slump.
  12. Braun was on Cold Pizza earlier. The recap was that he feels more confident now than when he 1st came up. They compared Brauns numbers to A-Rods from May 25 (the day Braun was called up). He also said that the numbers don't matter to him, the team success does. But that obviously the better he does the greater chance the Brewers have to win. He also said he only heard about the 'Hebrew Hammer" nickname a little while ago but he is ok with it.
  13. I say they have a sunshine and rainbow tie Monday in honor of Davey Nelson. Did anybody else see that tie on Monday's post game? But in reguards to Sutton, I have to give him some props for bringing fans to the ballpark on a weekday. He may have been a bit quarky but I liked the energy he brought to the broadcast booth.
  14. Does anybody know the E-mail for Bill/Brian's question of the night? Thanks.
  15. Yeah I had to laugh at that too. When he said it all I was thinking was ok.... Braun has power to all fields and has shown it since being called up. Also, what's with Kruk? He has some anti-Brewers in him. "Ughhh, Braun likes to admire his work a little bit doesn't he?" Not too mention all the "Lou sparked the team! Lou sparked the team!" crap that ESPN is spitting out. I miss Harold Reynolds too but he was charged with sexual harrassment on an ESPN employee. EDIT: removed cuss abbrev - brian
  16. milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com...p&c_id=mil The Brewers sold Triple-A Nashville right-hander Chris Oxspring to the LG Twins of the Korea Professional Baseball League on Tuesday morning. The 30-year-old had a 7-5 record with a 3.56 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 18 starts. His ERA ranked third in the league and his strikeout total was second only to current Brewer Yovani Gallardo's 110. "He's a little bit of an older player," Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said. "From our standpoint, he probably was down on the depth chart and not someone that we would be able to give the opportunity to here." Nashville called up Mark DeFelice from Double-A Huntsville to take Oxspring's spot on the roster. DeFelice, a 30-year-old pitcher, is 6-1 with a 1.62 ERA in 26 appearances. Down on the farm: Even without Oxspring, Nashville had two representatives in Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game -- catcher Vinny Rottino and reliever Steve Bray. Rottino started behind the plate in the PCL's 7-5 loss to the International League. The native of Racine, Wis., walked twice and scored a run. He also threw out a runner attempting to steal second base. Bray retired the only batter he faced in the ninth inning. Meanwhile, Double-A Huntsville sent seven players -- including DeFelice -- to the Southern League All-Star Game on Monday. DeFelice started the game and helped propel the North Division to a 7-4 win over the South Division.
  17. I couldn't find one from behind but this was the only one of Prince/Bonds on JSonline. http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/photographer/97/9723_large.jpg
  18. I was at the very least expecting to see that catch in the recap highlights of the game. It sucks when BBTN and SC show the exact same clips from the game.
  19. This is why I miss Harold Reynolds. No love for the Brewers once again.
  20. Thanks patrickgpe. That's what I thought but I had someone trying to tell me different. They also think that Sheets shouldn't be in over Ian Snell or Tom Gorzelanny.
  21. Probably a stupid question, but who selects which pitchers go to the all star game? I don't remember being able to vote on pitchers.
  22. No deal yet. FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Jacque Jones-to-Florida deal won't happen, "barring an unexpected reversal."The Marlins wanted Jones as their primary center fielder, but apparentely the Cubs were quite desperate enough to get rid of him. Either they refused to pay the majority of the $7 million he's still owed or they wanted a better prospect in return if they were going to eat the salary. msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6964484
