  1. Estrada is a great 5th starter. Definitely one of the best, if not the best in franchise history. That said, I've got to think that he's going to be due a significant raise in arbitration this off season. It looks like the Brewers will be in the market for a 1B, quite possibly a 3B and maybe a corner outfielder this off season. You have to think that they will look at doing a deal this off season like they did with Doug Davis. I don't think that dealing him during the season makes any sense though- a couple of injuries in the rotation would really thin the ranks and it's nice to have some depth in the rotation.
  2. Whoops. Meant Garza, I must be aging, because I am getting horrible with names.
  3. Not to veer this one too far off, but if the Brewers had been able to resign Greinke, there'd be no Segura and almost certainly no Lohse and Parra as well.
  4. I rarely dream about sports, or remember my dreams for that matter, but last night I had a very vivid dream that the Magic won the lottery and got the 1st pick with the Bucks dropping to the 4 spot. Hopefully, this doesn't come to pass, but if it does I will be offering psychic readings.
  5. If a trade is made at the deadline, i think it will fall in one of two scenarios 1. A position player on a bad team making decent to good money in the last year of his deal that the other team would be happy to mainly just shed the money. 2. A position player who can help some, but isn't good enough to demand a top notch prospect in return. Kinda like what say Baltimore gave up in the K-Rod trade. I think you are dead on. I'd expect to see them go for both an Adam Dunn/Josh Willingham type for scenario 1, and some versatile infielder who fits scenario 2 (a Hairston type player). I think a lot will hinge on the health of Ramirez and Braun. If Aram has lingering injuries, they could pursue a 3B or go after a 1B and shift Reynolds to 3rd. I saw Eric Chavez' name mentioned above, and that would make a lot of sense. I really don't see any need for pitching at this point, though I wouldn't be surprised if they added a bullpen arm depending on injuries.
  6. Unless the Brewers completely collapse in the next two months, they aren't going to be dealing veterans, period.
  7. Kind of funny how over a decade later the Weeks/Delmon Young debate has went full circle.
  8. That's Coop in the on-deck circle.
  9. No need to panic at all. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that they've lot 7 of 10, and only had 1.5 shaved from their peak lead. They obviously need to regroup, but all indications are that St. Louis/Pittsburgh aren't all they were cracked up to be. I think that Cincinnati is going to be the team to be the most concerned about, but they aren't world beaters either.
  10. A pretty foolish move on his part if you ask me. He's basically playing for his career at this point, and if a position switch gets you more playing time, you do it. As others have said, it's not really his place to decline anyway. If he's told to play the outfield, he does.
  11. I say the same thing every year, but they definitely need to add a LH power bat if you ask me, even if it's a guy to come off the bench.
  12. Based alone on his decision to shelve Henderson as closer, he's manager of the year to this point in my book. That decision probably added at least 2 or 3 wins. I think he's pushed almost all the correct buttons so far. I'm sure a big part of it is due to the good record, but I've only cursed at a few of his decisions thus far Also, I know a lot of people feel 'chemistry' is overrated, but he seems to be able to accomplish this every year, a complete 180 from Macha.
  13. I don't want any part of Jackson. From what I've seen, he's not done a very good job with Golden State. He also seems to have problems playing in the sandbox with others. In my view, this team needs a low ego guy who is willing to teach and build. They also need someone to police the locker room more effectively than recent years. No more retreads.
  14. I believe that the Reds hoisted a 'best record in baseball' banner at Riverfront in '82. At any rate, the '81 playoff definitely counts in my book.
  15. I couldn't have said it any better myself. The old adage 'people will always find something to complain about' applies here. This team is on one of the 5 best runs I've seen in all of my years as a fan, and we are arguing about the 'long man' in the pen? I'm guessing Overbay has outperformed some people's low expectations, so they turned to Wang. Personally, I'm just enjoying the ride, and hoping they can delay the inevitable bad stretch for as long as possible.
  16. Personally, I think that it's a much bigger hassle to park at Miller Park than it is going downtown to a Bucks game, especially if you know where to park
  17. A 7.5 game lead in April is nothing, heck a 7.5 game lead in July isn't insurmountable.
  18. You know it's been a great season to this point when this is the biggest bone of contention. Nothing against the kid, but here's hoping that Wang's appearances continue to be few and far between.
  19. This is the entire opinion, I had quoted only a portion in my original post from the website I was looking at it. So it looks like an about face from previous rulings... sort of. While the provisions no longer seem to be illegal, they still can't withhold or deduct from your security deposit if you don't pay to have the carpet professionally cleaned. Is that correct? Clear as mud. That's what it seems to say. It looks like your landlord has no basis in law to deduct $25/hour from your deposit. The lease clause itself seems to be a bit ambiguous as well. They refer to cleaning, which I assume is for those who do not leave the unit in clean condition (you'd be surprised how many people just 'leave' an apartment full of personal effects/junk). The carpet cleaning is mentioned in the next sentence. Have you confirmed with the landlord that the standard cleaning is included in the $25 hour clause?

  21. I'd love to see the Bucks get Robinson. A lot of mocks have him falling into the second round, but I'm not sure if that will happen or not. One guy that I'd love to trade into the first for would be Napier. He probably won't be a star, but I think he will be in the league for a long time.
  22. 17 games into the season, and a franchise-record-tying 3-HR game is cause for concern, eh? Tough room. A bit of stat cherry picking on my part, but still. Since the beginning of last year, Braun has only hit 12 homers in roughly half a season of at bats. For a guy who averaged roughly 35 homers a year at the beginning of his career, I believe that's cause for concern, especially considering his thumb and all the other issues of the past 12 months. The reverse-jinx when it comes to my posts is getting to be a common occurrence. I'm not only consistently proven wrong, generally it takes place within 24 hours in decisive fashion. If Braun goes on a tear now, I'm going to give myself some of the credit.

  24. As long as Reynolds can hit 25 or more homers, if he can keep a batting average somewhere above .200, I am fine with it. All indications are that this team is going to need every bit of power they can get, especially considering that Braun has only homered in one game this season.
  25. Funny, we just had a debate on this here a few weeks ago. Bottom line, if you play extreme shifts, don't expect the opponent not to attempt to alter their approach. Complaining about it is bush league.
