  1. I can't say that I'm disappointed about this as I was underwhelmed with the return. I think that package can be topped if they are patient, even if they wait until the off-season. Melvin had better move on and get busy, as there is absolutely no reason for them not to trade Parra and Cotts tomorrow. You take the best deal for them period.
  2. It's looking more and more like a five year rebuilding project lies ahead. It follows that anyone- including Lucroy should be on the table. Two problems..... First, very few guys on this team have much value, and the two that probably have the most (Gomez, Lucroy) have hurt their value by their play this year. Second, and most importantly, we have a lame duck GM. Not sure if he is the guy that we want making these deals (or if Attanasio will even let him at this point)
  3. When I saw this, I figured it was Matt Dominguez. He could probably be had for a fringe arm at this point. Also seems to be a good defender. The Brewers could probably do worse for a short term Ramirez replacement.
  4. Was a great promo way back in the day, but it will never come back.... no way will players mix with the commoners these days for free. Do these guys even sign autographs for the kids anymore?
  5. Good one... Marquis Grissom was one of the biggest bums to ever wear a Brewers uniform if you ask me. I didn't think of this one because the Brewers didn't actually sign him to his deal. That said, what went down was even worse when the Brewers bailed Cleveland out of this deal so they could bring Kenny Lofton back. Even worse, Lofton had been using the Brewers for leverage- had a meeting or two with Bando. From what I remember, Grissom generally played awful until the Crew was far out of things, then he would 'pad' his stats in August and September. He always gave the impression that he couldn't care less, and this deal pretty much was the final nail in Bando's coffin. I was so stoked when they dumped him on the Dodgers for a washed up Devon White.
  6. Counsell would probably be a good bridge between regimes assuming that Melvin will be out after the season. That said, is a guy with no formal managing or coaching experience at any pro level the guy that you would want to oversee a rebuilding club?
  7. Somewhat odd timing... have they been negotiating with someone for the past several days? The way that their statement is worded would lead me to believe that whoever they go with tomorrow won't be an interim.
  8. I think that many are going to be disappointed with the 'haul' that any current Brewer will bring in. They may net a couple of good prospects, but the only way this team will successfully rebuild is if they start drafting with a clue. Their drafts from 2009-2011 were brutal.
  9. Time will tell, but the fact that he got the contract under false pretenses gives him a leg up. Right now Soup is still my clubhouse leader followed closely by Hammonds.
  10. There are no smokescreens that could really mask this stench. The only way that they could ensure lots of walk up sales this year would be to have 10 cent beer night every night.
  11. Why do I have the feeling that the bullpen is going to take their turn tonight to contribute to this dumpster fire of a season.... they haven't had a legit chance to blow a game in over a week.
  12. He's pitched like garbage, but who do you replace him with? Is Mike Burns still kicking around somewhere? How about Everett Stull... probably roughly about the same age as Lohse.
  13. Jerry Narron = Jerry Royster If that's what they are going to do, I'd rather just ride things out a bit with Roenicke and sweep both he and Melvin out in July or August similar to what they did with Bando and Garner. If you ask me, Melvin needs to go as well, and I don't want his fingerprints on another manager- even if it's an interim.
  14. 2015 Brewers YTD: 3 HR in 428 PA Yovanni Gallardo career: 12 HR in 466 PA I was a bit nervous when they traded Gallardo due to weakening the depth in the rotation.... little did I know that the Brewers were also trading their best bat.
  15. Nelson Cruz alone has 167% more homers than the entire Brewers team at the 12 game mark. Absolutely pathetic.
  16. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. I'm guessing that there are people within the Angels organization hoping that he eventually messes up to the point where he gets a long suspension.
  17. I'm starting to get the feeling that Braun is going to be the 'most booed' Brewer of all time...
  18. Rob Deer is the one that stands out the most to me. He kind of became the scapegoat for some underachieving teams his last few seasons here. I've heard that George Scott was basically booed out of town as well back in the day.
  19. I'm not sure that Roenicke will make it back to Miller Park as manager. It may be a bit too early to panic, but it's becoming more and more apparent that this team is going nowhere. They are playing exactly as they did the last 6 weeks of the season last year... completely listless and lost at the plate. At least last year, the pitching held a bit, this year they are awful as well.
  20. Give me Yount, Molitor, Coop and Prince for this with Braun just missing the cut. Where is Don Money on the voting list? He and George Scott are just criminally underrated in Brewer annals. On that note, I love Rollie, but he has gotten a ton of mileage off his Brewers stint based on 2 great partial seasons.
  21. This is a classic 'contender trades guy not quite good enough to fill a role for someone on a bad team that meets a need' type deal... generally proposed by a fan of the 'contender'. Segura definitely doesn't look very good, but why would the Brewers do this? This would be akin to the Brewers offering Marco Estrada to the Royals to reacquire Alcides Escobar down the stretch in 2011. Melvin would have been laughed at and hung up on when found to be serious for that proposal, so why would this be any different?
  22. I'd rather have Parra. Who gave this guy that contract? Wow.
