  1. Chad Moeller just hit for the cycle? How cool is that? ~Bill
  2. That was a crazy collision... I can't remember ever seeing two bigger guys run into each other like that. Usually it's a little second-baseman and an outfielder or whatever, but this was pretty crazy. Casey and Norton went down like rocks. If you're reading this and didn't see it, nevermind - hard to explain. ~Bill
  3. Of the 6 general guys available not counting Vizcaino (set-up) and Kolb (closer). Ford and Santos would be my 5th and 6th picks. With a rested bullpen, I don't get it. Nedly's just testing his gritty battlers... what fun is winning in the early innings? The key is to get behind so you can see what your guys are really made of. Ug-ly. U-gly. Ugl-y. Victor Santos has the control of Ruben Quevedo circa 2003. I know he had a nice spring training, but this dude just doesn't know where the ball is going. ~Bill
  4. You gotta love Ben Ford and his magical disappearing sinker. The only problem is that it doesn't disappear until it's 450 feet from home plate. Yikes. Small sample is right, but Fordy just doesn't look like he belongs right now. ~Bill
  5. They've been replacing Helms in the late innings recently, so I could envision Ginter moving to third as part of a double-switch. Clark would bat in the pitcher's spot and play right-field, Ginter would just switch positions, and the new pitcher would take Helms' lineup spot. It'll be interesting to see what Nedley decides. ~Bill
  6. Agreed, burnie... It's pretty strange that they decided not to recall someone for tonight's game. It probably won't make any difference, but there's a chance that not having a twenty-fifth man will come back to haunt them. ~Bill
  7. Ginter gets his first start in right... should be interesting. Once again, however, Nedley demonstrates his utter refusal to make lineup changes - the rightfielder MUST BAT SEVENTH!!! 8. The Brewers seem like their media notes are always one of the last couple updated everyday. I wonder if that bothers the writers? Perhaps they get their copies before they go online, but ya' never know. Anyway, I just wanted to add that the Reds are apparently not going to make a roster move before tonight's game and so they are down a bench player. Kearns is going to be re-evaluated today but I can't anticipate him not going on the DL. ~Bill
  9. LOL. As for the Neugebauer news, there's nothing on Google News or Lexis yet. Let's just hope it's a pulled hamstring or something, and has nothing to do with the big man's right shoulder. ~Bill
  10. Makes sense, Michael. The other thing to consider is that it has been very cold and this might be the first time Carlos has ever dealt with that... he's from the DR and he pitched in Arizona. Certainly something to factor into any early evaluation of his performance. ~Bill
  11. I'm curious, too. Has anyone seen him pitch, yet? I would be really interested to hear a first-hand review. This guy seems like an absolute steal from the Giants - granted he was pitching in the Arizona League, but his K:BB ratios and K:IP ratios were outstanding. And so far in the Midwest League as a very young pitcher, he is continuing to put up those outstanding numbers. One thing I'll be interested to see once he gets 10-15 starts under his belt is where his GB:FB ratio is at. If he happens to also be a groundball pitcher, I can't imagine why San Francisco would give him up so easily. ~Bill
  12. Cory Lidle is wicked awesome. Well, sort of. Maybe. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  13. I don't have sticky-ing ability, so if one of the moderators could pin this to the top that would be great. Sheets looks for win number four in the month of April today against the scuffling Redbirds. Chris Bosio was the last Brewer to win four April contests, and that was back in 1989; the other two pitchers to do so were Teddy Higuera (1987) and Mike Caldwell (1979, 1984). Sheets is 3-5 with a 4.92 ERA in 11 career games versus the Cardinals. The last time the Brewers were over .500 this late in the season was June 29, 2001 when they were 39-38. Lots of BrewerFan faithful will be enjoying the action in Beloit, but for those who (like me) were unable to make it, let's hope for an exciting sweep! Here are today's lineups: ST LOUIS MILWAUKEE AVG HR RBI AVG HR RBI Marlon Anderson 2B .317 4 8 Scott Podsednik CF .309 3 8 Ray Lankford LF .333 3 3 Craig Counsell SS .232 1 5 Albert Pujols 1B .288 6 15 Junior Spivey 2B .290 2 14 Jim Edmonds CF .254 3 13 Geoff Jenkins LF .254 3 12 Scott Rolen 3B .342 8 24 Lyle Overbay 1B .288 2 14 Edgar Renteria SS .306 1 5 Wes Helms 3B .226 1 5 Reggie Sanders RF .308 6 17 Brady Clark RF .258 3 7 Cody Mckay C .071 0 0 Chad Moeller C .211 1 5 Jeff Suppan RHP .000 0 0 Ben Sheets RHP .000 0 0 (1-2, 4.76) (3-0, 3.10) Everything as per usual except for Brady Clark, who gets the start in right instead of Ben Grieve. Marlon Anderson will start at second for the Redbirds in place of the injured Tony Womack, and Mike Matheny gets the day off in favor of knuckeballer (and apparently catcher) Cody McKay. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ~Bill
  14. I've never heard Pujols say anything like that before... he's always a very respectful guy (at least in the public eye - we obviously don't know if that's the "real" Pujols or not). The weird thing about this quote is that the only person who apparently heard it was Rick Hummell of the Post-Dispatch. The other media outlets (Drew/JS, AP, etc.) are all just quoting from the Hummell article. I wouldn't be surprised at all if what Pujols said was sarcastic, not literal - he quite possibly could have been complimenting Saenz but was misrepresented by Hummell. I'm not saying that definitely is the case, but I don't want to blast Pujols for being a jerk based on one person's quoting of him. Just my $.02, ~Bill
  15. Very impressive performance by Saenz. It will be interesting to see if he stays up for a few days or if they demote him and recall a reliever from Indianapolis. Regardless of what happens, I'm sure this will be a very memorable day for Chris and hopefully this will be a catalyst for a breakout year at Huntsville. MassBrew's been pimping Chris for a while now - looks like he mined himself a nice nugget! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/2004/04/24/GPFEGQEd.jpg ~Bill
  16. you might be suffering from 4/20 hangover Jeez, David... it's April 23rd. You must have had a pretty fun 04/20 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif . I think Kinney's going to have to go at least 5 innings tonight... I hope he does well so that Saenz gets a start Saturday. That would be sweet. More likely, he'll go about 3 innings and the bullpen will get abused again. ~Bill
  17. ATL/CIN just got called after five innings... they win, I guess. ~Bill
  18. Moeller is left on the bench for Milwaukee, Bobby Estallela is left for Arizona. They've got Daigle, Dessens, Johnson, and Sparks in the pen. The Brewers have Bennett and the starters. This game's never gonna end! ~Bill
  19. Oscar "I got roughed up" Villarreal "hard last night" is on for the Dbacks. They've just got Sparks left in the pen. Good stuff. EDIT: what's the injury delay for? ~Bill
  20. Somebody really needs to remind Randy Choate that he is RANDY #$%@ing CHOATE!!! Six strikeouts in two innings of no-hit work... where did that come from? What a game! ~Bill
  21. El Duquecito time. Hopefully that doesn't mean "home run for Arizona time" in English. ~Bill
  22. Who is this guy and what did he do with the real Randy Choate? Seriously. ~Bill
  23. TOOOOOOOOOOOOLSHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This team is something else. Wow. ~Bill
  24. Ben Ford might need to be unfreed here pretty quick. Jeez... he's really struggling. Perhaps Mr. Wise or Mr. Santos deserves a callup? ~Bill
