  1. Well, Celtics did it mostly by making good decisions. It's not like they brought in a LeBron. Any many other teams tried to do the same thing and failed. Knicks, Bulls, Clippers, Hawks, etc. Same thing is true in MLB and NFL, each year there are really only a few main contenders. It's up to each team to make good decisions, keep their star players, attract others, etc.
  2. The NBA is in such bad shape these days. I feel bad for those fans. Giannis will do the thing to us if our owners don't figure out how to run a basketball program too. You can't add that second star if you are giving $44M to Tony Snell and last year's disastrous FA when you know teams are begging for cap space to dump good players and giving us draft pics to take them on. Everyone in the league knew teams would be begging for cap space to set themselves up for 2018 and we filled it up with junk. Curious what you mean by that? By all measures, the NBA has never been stronger. If you're talking about teams losing their best player(s), that's on them. The way NBA contracts work, the current team has every advantage in signing their stars long term.
  3. Just as nothing is guaranteed they'll win the WS this year if they trade a boat-load of top prospects for Quintana or anyone else.
  4. Difference is, Arcia never looked like he was frustrated. Always exuded confidence even when he was struggling. Phillips looked over-excited and nervous, Brinson looked frustrated. Maybe those aren't the right words to use, but they just didn't look "ready." With that said, I'll admit that's a reallllly subjective way to look at a player and could mean nothing at all.
  5. I didn't, don't, won't like watching Espino pitch.
  6. Every IGT Page 1: Lineup sucks, SP sucks, hitters suck, bullpen will blow it, Counsell is stupid. Most IGT Last Page: What a great win!!!
  7. Yes, there's a thread on the minor league forum. Rule 5 will be manageable again next year.
  8. I have a feeling you're the guy that gets mad when people stand on third down too No, I'm an enigma. I hate it when fans just sit quietly. I stand and yell on 3rd down! In fact, I wish MP wad more like County Stadium and the BC wad mote like Mecca. Fans were more into the games back then! Just stay out of my seat and we'll have a good time!
  9. How about trading Knebel for another Top 100 prospect? Great year, but we know how long closers last, and what their value is at the deadline. Brewers have lot of other players who have value that could fetch a Top100 prospect or close to it. I think they still need more pitching talent throughout the organization, and I rather trade for that. Giving up a bunch of top prospects for a "good" starting pitcher? No thanks. It's as if the last 35 years never happened. The system is finally being built to last and now we want to deal away some of the best pieces already?
  10. I have a problem with it too. You have a ticket for a seat, not MY seat. True, most of the time it's no big deal. But there have been a couple times where they were jerks about it, and once when they had to move down the aisle and were whispering and looking over at us the rest of the game. Sure, just don't let it bother you. I just don't need that crap. Lambeau is even worse. Every, and I mean EVERY game I attend there are people in our seats. Some don't have their ticket, some don't even know they're at a Packer game, and I've had to go get an usher more than once. Very simple folks, sit where you're supposed to sit. Once the game gets going for a while and you can clearly see an area is empty, have at it. Oh, and don't wear another team's hat. ; )
  11. I saw/heard the interview, and you may be reading too much into it. Sounded like typical GM speak to me, very vague. "We're always looking to get better." That sort of thing.
  12. Fair enough. Most importantly, you're the one who has to do the work so whatever works best for you!
  13. Or they could send Scahill down again. Would love to see Brinson come up for that series as well, and if he looks more comfortable/ confident this time around maybe he stays up and Broxton becomes the 4th OF. Bold move in the midst of pennant race though.
  14. Could be wrong, hope I'm wrong, but I get the sense the Owners like chasing big names. Do they fit? Are they even good anymore? Doesnt matter. Seems Rose is just the latest example. Much like when Mark A first bought the Brewers. Unfortunately, judging from who the Bucks hired as GM I fear decisions are still being made by like 17 different people.
  15. Well said. Question is what is the down side of waiting a year? If Arcia is willing to sign longer term deal with 5 1/2 years of team control why not 4 1/2? Maybe the price tag goes up a little, but it gives the Brewers time to see if he can keep this up. Arcia started slowly when he came up last year, slow to start this year. Now he's clicking, but will teams adjust approach to pitching him? Of course. Will Arcia then adjust as well?? That's always the question with players at this stage in their career. I would give it a year to see if he looks more like a .700 or .800 hitter. By the way, a bit off topic, but it's also telling he is already a leader on this team in many ways. Could be THE leader shortly.
  16. We seem to debate this every year, but wouldn't it make sense to generate a new list at the MiLB break? And then one after the season ends?
  17. Yea, Arcia is at the point where he has adjusted to MLB pitching. Now the league will figure out how to pitch him. You need to go through a few of these cycles before you know what Arcia will be as a hitter. At least wait until this time next year. No real difference in terms of negotiation, so why not wait a bit.
  18. Cards won 4 in a row, they are very much in it. Cubs have 3 months to get hot. It's a long, long season. Very exciting season so far, and very unexpected. But let's not pretend one or both of those teams can't or won't put it together.
  19. Mike Leake never pitched in the minors. He turned out alright. Each guy is different. Burnes is basically 23 and lighting it up. Bring the guy up and let him continue to do so. I agree, nothing says Burnes can't be brought up just because this is his first full season in pro ball. Plus, it's not like he would need to be brought up for the rest of the season. With that said, they may their reasons for not doing it. Maybe they don't want to disrupt what he's doing. Or maybe not risk having him blow up in the 1st inning of his first MLB start. They know the players better than we do, as well as the big picture of other guys they may want to start instead. Either way it has nothing to do with being "chicken." They haven't hesitated to bring rookies up when they thought it was time. Heck, with Arcia a lot of people thought it was TOO early.
  20. Hader is not stretched out. I cant imagine they would play yo-yo with a young pitcher like that. Start season as SP, then move to BP, then back as a starter all within a couple months. Possible I guess, but I don't see it.
  21. Where did that outing from Hanhold come from? Been a long time he had a dominating appearance like that. Sky Sox bats are unreal, and really makes you wonder how good Brinson/ Phillips really are. I swear, you could put Ray, Erceg, Clark, etc. in CS and they would have better numbers than they do now.
  22. Erratic ABs and small sample got him. Who knows, he could have been red hot the 2nd half of the year. But that's the way it goes for the 25th man on the roster, produce when you have the chance or be gone.
