  1. Keep in mind, they already have 8 in the pen NOT including Woodruff or Suter. And Garza will be coming back. So, for example, if they wanted to keep Woodruff in the pen, they will need to DFA two guys currently in the pen. I have a feeling they will want to keep Woodruff stretched out, but you never know.
  2. Well, it depends on RHP/LHP first of all, who's in the line-up etc. I think Bandy has cooled off to the point where he can move down to the 8 spot when he plays. Broxton (when he plays) needs to be down at 7/8 until he heats up again. Phillips should be down at 7 too. With Braun and Shaw out, it doesn't matter much to me what order they use for the first 6 guys in the line-up.
  3. No, but the top systems do and the Brewers were supposed to be one of them. Even back the system wasn't great they had Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Hart, Yo, Braun at the same time. But yea, nothing we can do about that but wait and hope some of these guys do develop into elite players.
  4. I think this is the big issue when it comes to these debates about the system as a whole. There are no elite level prospects that are going to dominate with huge numbers all the way through the system. We have some guys that will be regulars, maybe even all stars, but those are the kinds of guys that have up and down development cycles. We don't have that guy that is going to OPS 850+ at every singe level. If that is what you are expecting, then you are going to be disappointed. If your expectations are more aligned with the actual talent level, then you are probably in the more optimistic camp. But I don't think those expectations are unfair. Ray was a 1st round pick, regarded by many as the closest bat to MLB. Nottingham and Dubon put up big numbers before they came over to the Brewers system. Diaz put up those numbers last year. Clark, another first round pick isn't performing at that level. Erceg looked like he may be heading to that territory. Same thing for the pitchers. All the guys you were hoping could make that next big step really haven't. But you're right, it looks like a lot of depth has been added- maybe even some high up-side depth in some cases. But what we don't seem to have are 3-4 real studs to get excited about.
  5. Agreed, but being better than last year was not my standard. They were billed as a top 5 system, some sources had them top 2 or 3. I mean, who cares what MY expectations are, I get that. Just saying, Top 10 has been really mediocre.
  6. Could be the last we see of Drake for awhile. CC usually doesn't show his emotions, but he looked pissed there.
  7. I was wrong. Josh's mom was right. Always trust mom.
  8. Timing sure seems like pen, although if he is going to start they may want him to be with the team a few days to settle in. Either way, no reason for it to be a secret. Cmon Brewers PR Dept.!!!
  9. Honestly, I don't think there will be any high drama in the FO. Stearns simply isn't going to give up pieces of the future for a reliever. He is all about value, and he knows better than anyone the cost of a relief pitcher at the trade deadline is insane. Also, attendance is fine and the payroll is below the floor. Not even remotely something that comes into play.
  10. I keep seeing this in various threads. They are developing these guys to be starting pitchers, they are not going to be added to the Brewers pen. Ditto for Ortiz. Not to mention Williams is coming back from TJ, and likely will be shut down at some point this year. Once the minor league seasons are over, maybe one of those guys can be called up to the pen in September, but that's it.
  11. Gotta say, I don't see it that way. Another pretty disappointing year. Burnes and Supak are nice "surprises" but way too many top prospects under-performing. Ray, Diaz, Erceg, Clark not breaking out. Diplan hasn't been special repeating in A+. Nottingham and Coulter not bouncing back in a big way. Woodruff has been rocked a couple times, Hader hasn't been dominant by any measure. Some of this has to do with pitching environment in CS, but overall not the results I was hoping for, especially for the top 10ish guys. But a few of those guys are coming on lately, long way to go so there's time for these guys to turn it on.
  12. I swear everyone forgets the season is 6 very long months. What looks horrific today could be our strength in the 2nd half. And vice versa. This rotation will not be 6th best at the end of the year. Bullpen, even if they had the exact same guts, will be better. A hitter will tank, another will get hot. That's baseball. And it hurts to see a stretch when one facet of the team isn't clicking. But history tells us all these guys can pitch better than they have. Some will. Some wit and they will be replaced. Breathe. Espino is not an answer. Hader will not be an answer. Moves will be made, if you haven't been paying attention Stearns hasn't exactly been shy about making moves.
  13. I'm guessing Peralta has options remaining? If so, seems like a pretty easy decision
  14. Espino is mentioned as an option all the time by people wanting to make changes in the bullpen, FWIW.
  15. What does a streaker sound like. There is an answer to that, don't make me post a clip of that song.
  16. I don't know where all this "hate" is coming from. People hated TPlush? People hated Villar before he started struggling? Maybe your circle is different than mine, but I don't know anyone who hated those guys. Never heard it on talk radio either, never heard it at a game. Why would anyone hate Villar before this season? If there is any player where some of that exists, it's Braun.
  17. And you know that because? Stearns, CC, and many others in the organization have said there's more to just numbers when determining if a player is "ready" to be called up. Maturity, confidence, etc. all factor in. It's why Arcia was brought up so early, no problem with confidence there! I'm just using that word, but it's that intangible that tells you someone is ready. That's all I'm saying.
  18. Sure. But you can't have it both ways. Saying "here comes a K or soft grounder" when Villar is up or "don't get picked off" when he's actually on base is pretty justifiable too, no?
  19. Yea, I get that. I think you guys are talking about the IGT. That cat, and others, don't really limit their scorn to Villar. Every single time the starting pitcher leaves the game, we see "well, here comes a loss" or whatever. Broxton has been getting a lot of flack too. With Villar, let's be honest. Early in the year he was picked off a couple times, had some horrible defensive plays, and not hitting. So there's lots of ammo there. Was the same way with Gomez. But yea, I understand if I hung out in the IMG every night it would probably get old.
  20. In fairness, what are we supposed to say after one productive game? He has not had a good season, so why act like that's not the case? But that doesn't mean we're pulling against him. Can you imagine what that would do to this offense if he ramped up and put up the numbers he did last year!?!? Of course we want that to happen. And there's some irony here. Some of the same people who are "protecting" Villar have no problem throwing Feliz, Torres, Hughes, Drake, etc. under the bus.
  21. girl She will have it rough in school with a name like "Princess of Ding Dong City"
  22. Sure seems like he's ready. But two factors to consider. First, is he mentally and physically ready? Could be some refinement they're still working on with him. And since he's been in MLB already and got knocked around a little, you really want to be sure he comes up with confidence. Potentially, he's not just an option for the present but for the future as well. (As opposed to the Cravys and Blazeks, etc.) So, if you can, you want to avoid the yo-yo of going back and forth between MLB and AAA. Secondly, who does he replace? Not long ago nobody would have a problem dumping Hughes. Then he turned in a couple of exceptional outings. Every guy in the Brewers pen has had success in the past, most in the very recent past. So you want to be careful about giving up on guys too soon.
  23. Just start Peralta for a game. Then when Garza and Braun come back, it will be more clear who needs to go. As of today, I would pick Franklin and a reliever. The more I think about it, this is Phillips chance. As a 4th OF, he can still get plenty of starts and ABs. By the end of the year we will then have a better idea what the future holds for him and Broxton. Perez can play more in the IF, especially 2B. That kind of leaves Aguilar as the odd man out except for spot starts at 1B and PH. But I'm fine with that. I think.
