  1. No, but it has the tradition of being a place to be during the summer. County Stadium, and now Miller Park has and always will draw huge crowds from June- August regardless of the record. Throw in some give-away days etc. at other times of the year, and there is definitely a floor in attendance. Back to Feliz, I think part of it is they don't want to put the pressure of closer exclusively on Knebel or especially Barnes to start the year. It would be much better if they grew into that role. Knebel was back and forth last year, and not a very good year overall. Barnes with very limited MLB experience. I don't think it's wide to ask guys like that to be the closer before they're ready.
  2. Why not? Your own research proved Thompson has drafted horribly on the defensive side of the ball- especially front 7. Neal, Worthy, Thornton, Jones, good luck. Go back a couple more years and it gets worse.
  3. Nah, the scheme is easy to understand. They either play zone and guys are wide open, or they plan man and guys are wide open. They can rush 3 or 4, or they can blitz, and you got it...guys are wide open. I'm neutral on Capers, so I have no dog in this fight. They just don't have any talent. Is that partly because Capers and his staff haven't developed it? Who knows. But Randall and Rollins have actually taken a step back this year. Clay belongs on the inside, if he likes it or not.
  4. So the DBs are greatly improved, other than not being able to cover anyone?
  5. I have plenty to say about the defense, Capers, Thompson, etc. But that can wait until after the Super Bowl. I don't see how Falcons game will be any different than the Cowboys game. Oh, I expect HOW we get there will be different. Maybe it's the Packers that will need to come back this time, who knows. But seems like this one is destined to be won by whoever has the ball last. Yea, that's over-simplifying the game, but I just think that's all that needs to be said. Sure, great to have Jordy and Burnett back. We can talk about defense trying to hold them to FGs instead of TDs. Need a turnover or two. Yada, yada, the Falcons are going to score a lot of points, so are the Packers.
  6. Yea, I don't think flipping the relievers has anything to do with trend or not. They were assets available to be traded, and he took advantage. Same thing with acquiring LH bats. But I will admit he realized lack of LH bats throughout the organization, and wanted to address it (not force it) over time. I'm most interested in what he is doing and will do in drafts and player development more than anything. Only one draft, so hard to see trends there. And I really haven't seen much on any changes in player development, but very curious about this.
  7. There's a dozen other bars that fit that description, I'll support Brewers bars.
  8. Take ABs away from Perez and potentially Brinson so we can try to flip a 35 year old OF for a middling prospect? Pass. I have no problem finding someone other than Kirk N, but it needs to be someone on the right side of 30. I really don't like this flipping concept to begin with. Last year was a bit different since CF and most f the IF was wide open. Made sense to bring a bunch of guys in, see who could stick, and try to trade others if there was a surplus. We're another year down the road now, no reason to do that- especially in the OF.
  9. Still can't believe none of Gindle, Gamely, Green stuck. Injuries played a huge role, but still. Just shows no such thing as having too many prospects.
  10. Same thing Giannis and Jabari did rookie years. I don't agree Maker needs to play to learn the offense, defense rotations, etc. He can and will learn that in practice. Sure he will need playing time to take the next step, but he has to get basics down before he gets regular minutes. Nothing wrong with another year in the weight room and practice time.
  11. Ed Sedar just called, he said he has no idea what you're talking about.
  12. Broxton, Brinson, Phillips, Ray, Villar, Diaz, Erceg. What do they all have in common other than potentially above avg defense? Speed. (In Erceg's case speed for the position.) So yea, I agree defense is very important and I would love having 3 CFs in the OF. Speed is a big part of that, but it also shows up on the bases as well. Yet another under-rated part of MLB over the last decade+. Not just SBs, but getting 1st to 3rd, 2nd to home, avoiding DPs, etc. A big part of how KC made it to two WS and won one.
  13. I would be fine with Williams in the BP, Ponce too for that matter. Not sure if his arm will hold up as a starter. And nothing says they can't start in the bullpen and be moved to the rotation at some point if they're capable, makes sense at the time, etc.
  14. Older than all ya all. I went to Bucks games back when they still played outdoors. Only they were called the Does then.
  15. Yea, that's possible. Obviously we have no idea what he's physically able to do, but TJ has actually been a positive for many pitchers. I don't expect him in the 2017 rotation, no, but 2018 is definitely possible if his wing is sound. They will need to ramp up his innings, sure, but they can always shut him down early.
  16. Let me know where I can find a petition banning Phil Simms from all NFL games.
  17. One time is close to pure luck, three times tells you it's more than just luck. The trajectory makes a difference, I'm sure. But I also think they now actually believe they can score, it's not just chucking it up and hoping for the best. Obviously, still plenty of luck involved but far from pure luck.
  18. Yea, and he spent 11 of those minutes running around without any real purpose. But you have to start somewhere. I'm higher on Maker than most, but Spurs game just showed he's still definitely a work in progress.
  19. Add Taylor Williams to that list. Looked really good by all accounts in Fall ball, full velo back on his FB and had control of all pitches. At his age, they're going to fast track him. And it shouldn't take long, remember he was on the verge of being called out when he blew out his elbow. Also wouldn't surprise me if Ponce gets an opportunity before Ortiz, just because of age. Throw in Nelson and Peralta (maybe even Guerra yet) and you're talking about 10 guys who could have a legit chance to start in 2018. But since quantity does not always mean quality, I am guardedly optimistic.
  20. As fans, I think that gets over-stated sometimes. Always seems YOUR team is the one to blow games at the end more than other teams. Don't get me wrong, they definitely blew a few. But they also came back to win a couple at the end recently. That's the NBA. But again, I agree they need to do a better job of consistently closing out games. Ball and players just stop moving, that's the problem. Also, remember to start the season they had Plumley starting at Center. Even Vaughn started a couple games. So they may have dropped a game or two before they got their current rotation set. Beating teams like the Spurs, OKC, Cleveland shows they can hang. Almost beat GS also, so it's not like they had just one shock win. Still young, and still learning how to play with each other but at least they're exciting to watch while they grow.
  21. I'm going to take a wild stab and guess that this friend also drinks nothing but obscure IPAs and trashes anyone who drinks a light beer. I fit that description. TV snob, hate light beer, only good beer. Not an iPad fan though.
  22. Big win, big night for Bease. Story for me though is another great game from Brogdon. He's really rolling now.
  23. Yea, I would rush 6. DBs are not covering the whole field, or even the receivers. They should get to the end zone and find the ball. And having 5 guys do that should be plenty. With that said, there was what 6 seconds left? Giants had to guard against a possible real quick out pattern to get into FG range. I guess I would rush two DB's from way wide since they're faster than any lineman and should at least make the QB run and drop everyone else in coverage. Why even bother going after the QB since you're going to be severely out manned anyway. Maybe I'm missing your point, but looks like you said two different things here? You answered your own question I think, which I agree with. Why bother going after the QB? So he can never get set and throw it 50+ yards. As you said, you load one side of the line with quick pass rushers on one edge, impossible to block them all so QB has to run and try to chuck it. That's really tough to get off a good throw, even Rodgers.
  24. Yea, I would rush 6. DBs are not covering the whole field, or even the receivers. They should get to the end zone and find the ball. And having 5 guys do that should be plenty. With that said, there was what 6 seconds left? Giants had to guard against a possible real quick out pattern to get into FG range.
  25. On a related note, got sucked into Designated Survivor. My wife said first episode or two were OK, so watched whole season. Yea, it was not "ok"
