  1. This game has the feel that someone should hit for the cycle, but nobody is even close
  2. Just 4 starting pitchers away from being a WC contender
  3. That's what happens when Nelson gets fastball happy.
  4. I think I saw more good ABs that inning than all of last year.
  5. It's a deal. Yes, I would move Rivera ahead of Hill. After that, doesn't matter. Just a mess of Hillfloresneiwenwalshxton.
  6. Another big difference: Niewenhuis is 28, Reed is 23. I don't think Reed is can't miss, but fits the category of guys that have had some success in MiLB, and this is the year to find out what they can do.
  7. Another guy on fire nobody is talking about... Garin Cecchini. Not much power yet, but like Roache maybe that comes next.
  8. I was expecting to see cheers for Scooter not playing vs the LH. I get the frustration with Walsh not playing. But we still have 5 1/2 months of baseball. Walsh will get more playing time/ABs at some point. Hill is a veteran, as long as they have him he's going to play and get time to prove himself so he can be flipped later. If Hill is still awful by this time in May, and he still plays every day, then there's a problem.
  9. I thought the exact same thing. Better than yesterday's pictures. Picture of Peralta made my soul hurt.
  10. Agreed. I hate the DH, but would rather have DH than dictate where players must be positioned on the field. No reason MLB couldn't do both though, I just really doubt it.
  11. Bats can decide whether it's 50/50, 80/20 or anything else. I wouldn't bring up Reed to play half the time though, I'll say that. If he plays full time in CF, that's fine by me. It's not like it's costing us a trip to the WS this year or anything. In fact, it would be a great move for the future when Reed would probably be the 4th OF to have all that time in CF under his belt.
  12. Reality is, MLB wants shorter games and more runs scored. Not likely they would make a rule regarding shifts, but it's not impossible. I would expect the DH in the NL as the next step in creating more runs, actually surprised it hasn't happened yet.
  13. Yes, I remember the story of a team (I think football) that painted the opposing team's locker room pink. Don't recall who it was, I think a college team?
  14. Saw him play enough 1B, and he's not a gold-glover but it's not like he was so awful he couldn't play the position. I've seen worse for sure. It is puzzling. Only thing I can think of is they want him to try to learn the corner OF. Obviously, the more positions a guy can play the better his chances will be. But that doesn't seem to be happening either, because like you said he's playing mostly DH.
  15. That would be a great idea if/when Rivera is 3B. Maybe Walsh too. Another random thought. Shifts to the right side of diamond don't seem to be as awkard.
  16. The info is he's the youngest player in the league. He is being pushed, we'll see how he responds.
  17. Yuni, of course!
  18. Not sure, but it has also cost some outs when Scooter has to make long throws against his body when he's behind 2nd or on the left side of IF. He just doesn't have the arm strength to pull that off. Guessing the shifts are still a net gain, but I do wonder if they would be better off just playing straight-up at DP depth in DP situations.
  19. Took 13 games for Diaz to have his first error. Very impressive for a low A SS, especially in this weather.
  20. Saw Peralta last night for the first time, he has some nasty stuff. At the very least, I see what Stearns and company saw in him.
  21. 2016 Wily Peralta: "Crappy, but not quuuuuuite crappy enough for a demotion." Nice fight in them today, that's the 2nd or 3rd win like that this year. As fans, we always think it's a loss once the opposing team ties or takes the lead. CC pushed the right button with Rivera there. Mr. 9th inning.
  22. Yea, he did flip them but still a good point. Nice to see Blazek is not just "pitch the 7th inning, only the 7th inning, and pitch the WHOLE inning" guy. Now get Smith and Knebel back and that's not a bad bullpen.
  23. Nothing as of yet. Wily let on the first two runners in the 6th but there's now 2 out and runners at the corners. No damage yet. Blazek on. Blazek gets them out of it. Headed to the 7th with a 5-2 lead. Got it, thanks. Just regular Wily stuff. Thought maybe a a couple crazy errors or something. Looks like crisis averted, for now.
