  1. I realize the need to "name" starters, but that doesn't matter much to me. Rivera and Villar should both get a ton of ABs and they can both play other positions besides SS. Also, I wish they would just dump Hill. This pipe-dream about how he can have a good season, be flipped in a trade, etc....what the heck are you ever going to get for Aaron Hill? He's a dime a dozen. Heck, the Brewers already have 5 or 6 Aaron Hills, only younger. I wish they would do the same thing in the OF. Add Reed to the roster. You can give labels to Broxton/Flores/Reed if you want. Starting CF, 4th OF, 5th OF. Doesn't matter to me, just give them all enough ABs. This is as a fan talking more than anything. I have no interest in seeing Hill, Pressley or EYJ. This is the year, if there ever was one, to see what the young guys can do- especially the players that came up through our system.
  2. I would be more upset if he was traded for a lousy package. If he stays, at least it sells some tickets, wins a few more games, etc. Plus, it sets a horrible precedent that you can fleece the Brewers when they're desperate to move a player. Teams need to know when they deal with the Brewers, they're more than willing to make a deal but you can't pull one over on them.
  3. Every arena may be different, but at the BC these sections are courtside, not tucked into the corners or baseline. I'm sure those fans left after their game, but that's no excuse. If you're a fan of the tourney, why leave? As I said earlier, BC is packed and enthusiastic when there's no rooting interest in ANY team. Just enjoying March Madness. It tells me there's not enough interest if those fans left early and weren't able to sell their tickets for the remaining games.
  4. Reality is, you aren't going to get a deal done right now for what Lucroy is worth. If he has a good season, you can get much more for him at the trade deadline. Is there a risk that he get injured again? Sure. But I would rather take that risk than get a couple mediocre prospects. Trade decisions during the off-season are almost 100% logical, even cautious. But when teams are in the thick of a pennant race, emotion takes over. That's when you get a better deal.
  5. Scooter would be an option to leadoff, against RHP at least.
  6. Yea, I also don't think it's that far-fetched to include the Ambassador as "Downtown ZONE." It's not like they put hotels from the Airport or North Shore in there. There's no other geographic area the Ambassador would fall under. They're not going to offer a search option: "The crappy area between Downtown and Tosa."
  7. Wisconsin is so used to playing in close games at the end, that really seems to be the difference. Xavier had control of that game and took really bad shots at the end. Happ, Brown, and Hayes were all in foul trouble, why didn't they pound it down low every possession?!?! Notre Dame will be tough, but UW can beat them. Another toss-up game. But after last night, this season is already a success, anything more will be gravy.
  8. The biggest problem is the initial sales are for the entire weekend. So you're buying 4 games on Friday and/or 2 games on Sunday. If your team loses on Friday (or plays the first game on Sunday) you're left scrambling to try to sell your tickets off. That's true, but no excuse. I have been to the tourney every time Milwaukee has had games, and it's always a packed enthusiastic house. Then, when UW played at the BC two years ago it was off the charts crazy. In fact, I notice this as I watch games throughout the tournament. How many venues are half-full, and/or no juice in the building.
  9. Brewers reporting multiple facial fractures. Anything else is pure speculation.
  10. Classic. Does that make Yuni the hot dog from the movie theatre in that Seinfeld episode?
  11. I agree with all that. Not suggesting in any way a spot needs to be cleared for any of those AA/AAA outfielders at this point. I'm just saying if Reed doesn't get a shot this year, it may very well never happen- at least with the Brewers. For now, I don't think it's necessary to project Reed as CF or LF. As a reserve, he could play plenty of both. But it seems inevitable he'll be packaged in a trade.
  12. If they don't want one of Flores/Broxton/Liriano, my next pick would be Reed. This may be his last season to get a legit look at the MLB level before Phillips shows up. Not to mention guys like Coulter, Taylor, Roache, etc. on the horizon. Not saying all (or any) of those guys will make it to MLB, but there's certainly a log jam. That will work itself out the next couple years, but point being Reed will soon get lost in the shuffle if he doesn't get his shot this year.
  13. Braunie, Gomie, Maldie, Rammie, Smithie, Lohsie...
  14. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. B.M. Phillips 3. Trent Clark 4. Josh Hader 5. Jorge Lopez 6. Jacob Nottingham 7. Gilbert Lara 8. Isan Diaz 9. Kodi Medeiros 10. Cody Ponce 11.Cint Coulter 12. Demi Orimoloye 13. Taylor Williams 14. Devin Williams 15. Monte Harrison 16. Yadiel Rivera 17. Zach Davies 18. Tyrone Taylor 19. Nathan Kirby 20. Jake Gatewood 21. Marcos Diplan 22. Adrian Houser 23. Miguel Diaz 24. Michael Reed 25. Carlos Luna Decided not to go beyond 25, or I could never stop! Could have very easily had any of 20-25 other guys in the last few spots. Looking at other lists, I guess I have Taylor Williams and Yadiel Rivera rated much higher than most. Michael Reed much lower.
  15. They could do that, and I would be fine with it. (Only because that doesn't mean Phillips has to stay in AA all year, or even half the year. Or Broxton can't come up at some point in the season.) I would be fine either way, but would prefer to see Broxton start in CF. This is a year for guys like him, Flores, Liriano, Villar, Rivera. Not our top prospects, but all guys worth getting a long look at MLB level.
  16. True, we have the 411 building for that.
  17. Please no! This is the complete opposite of what they should be doing. A 30 yr old OF with a .464 OPS last season?!?! .642 for his career? Pretty clear he was an insurance guy if they had a rash of injuries, didn't like what they saw from the young guys, etc. If EYJ makes the 25, then I honestly don't know what the plan is here. (And don't tell me he can always be traded. He is what he is at age 30, which isn't much. No upside like the younger guys.
  18. Wake me up when the first shovel hits dirt.
  19. They WERE in Nashville prior to CO Springs, that's what I was alluding to in my post. They basically got kicked out after their contract was up.
  20. Exactly. Broxton, Flores, and Liriano are all younger and worth finding out what they can do. If one or more succeed, you either have pieces that can be used in rebuilding, or traded. Either way, more upside with those 3. As far as carrying 5 OFs, remember Flores will most likely backup 1B as well.
  21. Just another reminder of how deep the system is these days. Denson and Perry won't be on anyone's top 25, maybe not even top 40. Yet both of them have at least a chance to reach MLB.
  22. Since Flores is out of options, and they're experimenting with him playing some 1B, he seems like close to a lock. Broxton looks like a natural to start in CF, but he does have options so he may be sent down. Liriano is also out of options, so probably gets the nod over others based on his youth/ceiling vs other guys. Any of the others would be perfectly acceptable in the 5th OF role, but something has to give. In the IF, all depends on whether they want to carry Walsh or not. I think Rivera has made it for sure as UI. Perez starts at 3B, Cecchini to AAA.
  23. What a mess. Maybe it's unavoidable, but it just seems the Brewers keep putting themselves in horrible positions with their affiliates and have to go into scramble mode every time. Nashville wasn't much of a shock, they should have been prepared. Brevard, they saw this coming for years. Now they're struggling with what to do with their Spring Training facilities. (And AAA still isn't "fixed." From everything you're saying, and what I've read in the past, I would prefer they end up in the Carolina League. It scares me to think both AAA and A+ teams will be playing in CA.
  24. Yea, I'm a hypocrite on this stuff. I never watched tennis before or since those years. Tiger got a lot of crap for showing emotion, because you just don't do that on the tour. But I loved watching him play. So, to a large extent that's how I feel about MLB. Every player and situation is different, some of it bothers me, some of it doesn't. All players seem to have a "thing" after a double now where they have some sort of sign they make to their dugout. Doesn't bother me. Yadier Molina does anything at all? Bothers me.
