  1. Replace Narveson with Burgos, and I would agree 100%.
  2. Miller Park would look even better if they moved the walls back.
  3. First, Chad25, please look into something called paragraphs. Not trying to be a jerk, just really hard to read. No you don't dump a .850 OPS guy if he's 24 and you control him for 4 more years- as an example. You do dump a guy before he's going to make $16MM, and it would be a real surprise if he's over .800 by then. I wouldn't be opposed to going into 2013 with Ramirez, and you can look to trade him at the deadline if we're out of the race. Even if that means paying part of his salary. How much would depend on the quality of prospect(s) we get back. Same goes for Hart, really. Only he would be much easier to move as a rental, since it's the last year of his contract. I would be willing to discuss any deals for them during the off-season- you never know if there's a team out there that really covets one of those guys.
  4. Well, he's starting tonight so that's a sign they plan on playing him a lot. Hoping he can make an impact and Weeks can finish the year strong. That would make me feel a whole lot better going into the off-season.
  5. Swimming has been very entertaining. Especially the American swimmers who won gold as somewhat of a surprise. That 15 yr old who won the 1600...amazing. Looked like she got out too fast and would certainly fade. I was looking forward to basketball, but have found myself way more interested in all the other events.
  6. Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. Otherwise, pretty much everything before 1990. I have tried to watch SNL from time to time over the past 10 years, and it is just awful. I know I'm not in their demo anymore, but it's so "un-funny" it's almsot embarrassing.
  7. If healthy, it's almost a lock Rogers will be on the 25 man. Even if he's in the bullpen. Evan though I would love to see a rotation of Yo, Fiers, Estrada, Rogers, Thornburg, Peralta, Burgos, etc. I agree Melvin won't do that. And I won't feel that bad if he give a vet a one year contract as insurance. But I am 100% against giving anybody a multi-year deal, even if it is a"good deal" for the Brewers. Clear out the salary, let the youngsters play, and then we'll see what is needed for 2014. And who knows, they may stumble into success next year despite it being a "rebuilding" year.
  8. He wasn't hitting over .500 in Huntsville, so I'm not sure his bat is ready.
  9. Agree completely, exactly the type of contract this team doesn't need right now. But you said the key word- assuming. Were there any reports that a team was willing to trade for him and pick up his entire salary?
  10. Hahaha... Guilty of the same thing myself...only it was Jasmine! As far as nicknames go, saw some great ideas. None of them will matter though, because RR will call Segura "Seggy"
  11. I think sometimes we get caught up in semantics having this discussion. Terms like "blow it up" "go young" and "rebuild" mean different things to different people. For example, call it whatever you want but the pitching staff will be vastly different in 2013. Very likely only 3 or 4 pitchers that were on the roster opening day 2012 will be back. To me, that's blowing it up. Another thing I notice is many posters seem to equate a young pitching staff with giving up, or at least destined for a 90 loss+ season. I think you can have your cake and eat it too. Pirates, Nationals, As, Orioles, Dodgers, White Sox all went young to one degree or another. Many of those teams are seeing success even more quickly than they probaly planned for. This could be the 2013 or 2014 Brewers. Don't spend money on SP. Go with the young guns, there's plenty there in quality and quantity. I wouldn't trade all 3 of Weeks, Hart, and Ramirez. But I would look at any deals to move one, maybe two if it brought back really good bullpen arms that are pre-arby or otherwise low-priced. No question the pen needs major improvement. I just want quality at a low price. Not easy, but it can be done. So yes, along with Yo go with Fiers, Thornburg, Peralta, Burgos, Rodgers. Estrada if you need him. Fill a couple pen positions with capable arms from AA/AA. There are few real options there. Get Gamel back in the mix. Let the Nashville OFs compete in Spring Training for a spot. Just DON'T SPEND MONEY. Now you have a rotation gaining experience and innings, controlled for 6 years. With another wave on the way. Best of all you have money in the bank to spend later when you need that one piece to get over the top. And there are still prospects who can be dealt at the trade deadline if it comes to that. Blow money on another Looper/Wolf type or the temptation to blow money on a closer is the last thing they need to do right now.
  12. What's your point? My comment about having 7 guys in the rotation? Obviously that's why I said "over the course of the season." A couple of those arms can stay in Nashville, and/or be used out of the pen. Otherwise I don't understand your question.
  13. I don't want any FA arms. Why pay millions to a guy for a couple years while they're rebuilding? Does anyone honestly believe this team can be a WS contender next year? The only shot this team has to be a true contender is having their own pitching prospects produce, and actually a couple of those guys need to be studs. That's the formula for success. Salary controlled starters for 6 years. THEN you can make a big splash for a bat, another SP, etc. when those pieces are in place. Why spend the money now? Once this team is ready to really get after it again, use the money then to complete the picture. To go out and sign another Looper, Suppan, Wolf right now, I'm sorry just doesn't make sense to me. I would go with Yo, Fiers, Peralta, Thornburg, Burgos, Rogers, and Estrada in the rotation. Seven guys??? Well yea, over the course of the 2013 season. Innings need to be managed, so you can't just throw Thornburg (for example) in the rotation for 30+ starts. Bullpen, same thing. Bring in Sanchez, Stetter, etc. Now, I wouldn't mind at all if they swing a trade to pickup a bullpen arm or two. But not guys making big money. Pre-arby type guys who are controlled for 3-5 years. Heck, I may even throw money at a FA if I really trusted what I was getting. 2013 (and the rest of this season actually) should be all about giving pitchers in our system every opportunity to show how they can contribute. Side benefit is you start building up innings as well. End result would be going into 2014 with a heck of a lot better understanding of what the rotation looks like, and if a FA move or trade needs to happen then.
  14. Sounds about right igor. I think Gamel needs to bring a lot of gloves to Spring Training. If he's healthy and rakes in Spring Training, his bat will have to play somewhere. Even if that means multiple positions to get him on the field. While it's too early to hand over 1B to Morris, you need to factor him in when deciding what to do with Hart. If what you guys are saying about Khris Davis' arm is true, seems like he's destined to be packaged in a trade. That's not all bad, it is one of the reasons to have a strong farm.
  15. We'll never know if it's true that Melvin never got any legit offers for Hart or Ramirez. Really surprising to me someone wouldn't want a big bat like that down the stretch. Sure, you have to keep them after this year, and that's a little problematic- especially in the case of Ramirez. But even at that, I would think somneone would roll the dice for a power bat, and then always have the option of trying to trade them in the off-season. Worst case, you're stuck with a darn good hitter on your roster at a reasonable price. I was also holding out hope they could get something for Morgan, Loe, Parra, or Izturis but that was probably more wishful thinking than reality.
  16. Haven't been able to confirm this yet. As I understand it, they wheel in a TV with RR on DVD in a continuous loop saying "Bunt....bunt....bunt....bunt..."
  17. One of those things we'll never know- did anyone ever make a serious offer for Hart or ARam? Or at least want to talk to Melvin about an offer?
  18. More likely, if he keeps it up he could start at 1B in 2014 when Hart is gone.
  19. 1. Segura 2. Peralta 3. Thornburg 4. Rogers 5. Morris 6. Burgos 7. Nelson 8. Hellweg 9. Pena 10. Bradley Obviously, my list is weighted towards AAA/AA players, unless it's a starting pitcher with a high ceiling. Burgos has better numbers at AA than Hellweg/Pena, yet nobody rates him higher- or in some cases not at all. Also believe Gennett over Morris is puzzling. We all have our opinions, not saying mine's any better (probably not), but it seems like sometimes we hang on to certain guys and put faith in who is "supposed to be" a top prospect, rather than looking at actual results. I do it too, just sayin'...
  20. Its beyond ridiculous now, it really is. When you literally can NEVER hold a lead?
