  1. Exactly. And he's off to a slow start in Nashville. He's lost at the plate at this point in time, so it wouldn't do the Brewers or Morris any good to bring him up at the start of the season (or now.) We all have fun Yuni starting at 1B, etc. Heck that stuff is made for BF. But honestly, I can't believe the record would be any different if Morris. Overbay, Halton, or any of the other cast of thousands would have played 1B. What WILL be interesting to see is whether Green starts at 1B or 3B when he comes off the 15 day.
  2. Too bad Brooks Kieschnick isn't around anymore. He could play LF, 1B, and probably be as good as anyone else in the bullpen. Plus, if we need a couple more SS, Counsel and Matt Erickson are still in the organization.
  3. Yes, the start of this season is depressing. But none of the injuries are long term. Braun will be back any day, ARam in a another couple weeks, Hart in a month or so. This line-up will be one of the best in the NL. Pitching is still more of a concern, but the good news is there's plenty of options this year- both for the rotation and pen. Further, I think the bench will be much better than the last few years once everyone is back. There is a danger in getting too far behind before everything falls into place, but with 156 games left I am not giving up. This from not exactly the most optimistic Brewers fan in the world.
  4. Perfect. So two women who have no interest in baseball will have better seats than I'll ever have in my life. This season just keeps getting better.
  5. I'm out. Hung in there watching every season of Apprentice, but haven't watched this year. I think the bigeest reason why, is that I hate that it's two hours long. Even taping it, it takes so long to get through the boring stuff. Two hours is just too much week after week. Plus (and maybe this has changed) the tasks are basically the same over and over again. Most of which involves no talent, just calling a rich Hollywood buddy for money. Who knows, maybe at some point I will try watching the first episode on Hulu or something, but I'm in no hurry.
  6. Yea, "sell high" always sounds good until you discuss specific examples. Should they trade Braun and Yo right now? Because that would be selling high. As for Gomez, that deal is calculated risk that frnakly a team like the Brewers needs to take. There is an upside, and the downside is manageable. I don't think Logan Schaefer's development factors in in any way. In fact, it may help his development to have him start his career as a 4th or 5th OF for a year or two.
  7. Marquette should be a 4 seed for sure. Their RPI was #10 before the BE Tourney, so they still have to be one of the top 16 teams, I would think. No way Wisconsin is a 5 seed, unless they win a game or two in the Big Ten tourney. I think they are a 6 right now. RPI is even lower than that.
  8. I was pumped when I saw Rush was coming to Summerfest. Then I saw their set list for their current tour, and now I really doubt I'll even go. I've become a concert snob, and generally won't go unless I have good seats. Not front row center stage, but good enough to really appeciuate the show. So I don't want to pay big bucks to sit through a very long Rush show where they don't even play half their "best" songs. Will readily admit I only know their popular stuff, and I love it, so I'm really torn. Play it by ear I guess.
  9. Yea, it will help that Wilson is going to Marquette, one more thing that gives MU a legit shot at landing Stone. As Fondy said, the talent level in HS is so much better these days in-state. Wasn't all that long ago that Anthony Peiper was not the only the best prospect for several years, but considered a super-stud.
  10. Yea, Evans brings the same thing to the table that Bruizer does- minutes. Neither is a great player, but they can run the offense, generally make smart decisions, and play solid defense. There really are no other options close to being as good on the bench. Dekker will get more and more minutes, but he is really more of a perimeter player at this point in his careeer. It's fascinating to see how Bo puts a competitive team out there every year when you just don't see how. Next year is no exception. Only 1 guy in the recruiting class, and that's a guard. Only bigs they have left are Kaminski and Dekker if you want to call him that. LOOKS like they're only 6 deep, and 4 of the 6 are guards, so can't wait to see how Bo makes it work yet again.
  11. That's some sweet action!
  12. Seems to me all the negative comments made about the Bucks can be made about the Brewers. So if you really just don't like/enjoy the Bucks or the NBA that much, that's fine. But the Bucks are in the same boat as the Brewers, and have basically hade the ame level of success/failure as the Brewers over the last 20 years. It's easy to say the Bucks stink and/or there's no chance they can ever make a serious run. But I appreciate the fact we actually have NBA basketball in Milwaukee. I remember the 80s Bucks and oh how the Mecca rocked. There was even energy 2 years ago in the Atlanta series. Yes, the Bucks have all kinds of hurdles to clear- mostly the same ones the Brewers have. But I think Jennings is better than what he's given credit for. I would build around him, Sanders, and Henson. Mix in Sova, Dunleavy, and the Prince... that's a very solid team right there. Not even counting on Harris or Lamb, so that would be pleasant surprise. They need a bit of luck to really be acontender though, I'll grant you that. Speaking of luck, they could have had Jennings, a healthy Bogut, Sanders, and Henson to build around. Heck, add a legit 2 guard and that is a contending team right there. That's how close they were, so it could certainly happen again.
  13. Lose a few years and there may no longer be a Milwaukee Bucks. And there are for more examples of bad teams that never get a LeBron or Durant than teams who do. Look no further than the last time the Bucks had the #1 overall pick. Bogut was arguably the best out there. LeBron, Duncan, Kobe...those guys are rare and there's no guarantee you get a superstar by getting the #1 overall pick. Even if you do, chances are it's going to be a very young player needing development (like uni-brow.) By the time they play like a superstar, contract is up and off to LA or NY. Look, it's not easy. Just as it's not easy to build a true contender in Milwaukee for MLB. I just think there's a huge risk in blowing it up, because I honestly don't think the franchise could survive 3-4 years of being a horrible team.
  14. But that also isn't a reason to NOT blow up the team. Just another reason that Kohl probably won't. I read and hear this all the time, and I just don't agree. "Kohl can't see the big picture," that sort of thing. I think he understands the big picture very well. If they blow up the team and start over, what will attendance be? They're a winning team now, and exciting to watch yet the BC is like a morgue most games. So many 12 win seasons will it take for the franchise to go under? Plus, there's no guarantee you get that "franchise saver" guy anyhow. With all these "one and done" top draft picks, there's not many sure things anymore. So I don't think blowing it up is the best way for the Bucks to go. You build around Jennings, Larry, and Henson. Then you still have guys like Sova and Dunleavy that can either help you win, or bring value back in a trade. No reason they couldn't evolve into a top 4 team in the East, they're almost there already.
  15. Well, it's early but neither NC or Kentucky have made an offer to Looney yet. I don't see Kansas as big of a draw as they used to be. So there's still a chance he's a Warrior. It must help to have Burton and Wilson working on him too. I think he's still a bit of a project, and NC and Kentucky want polished players and can recruit only the very top players they want. We'll see....one can hope.
  16. Sure, Tokoto would have been nice, but Marquette has a top 10 recruiting class for 2013, so they can't have everyone. Only so many scholarships to go around. If they can get Looney for 2014, that would be huge get.
  17. Every year the same question is asked. And every year Bo finds a way to win with what he has.
  18. Random thoughts... 1) Start saving immediately for college. A 529 plan is a no-brainer, you can save $3,000 each year free of state taxes, and earnings are exempt from state AND federal taxes. If you're in Wisc, google Edvest for more info. The more you put aside from day one will make a huge difference 18 years from now. 2) Controversial, but I would recommend holding them back a year in school- espeically a boy. We did NOT do this, but looking back wish I had with my son. Everything turned out great, but he was one of the youngest in his class. Makes a difference in maturity, sports, etc. when your child is a year and half younger than most other students. I don't agree with this, but it has become the norm so it's hard to fight it. 3) Difference between being involved and controlling. I can't tell you how many kids I know that started college and were completely lost. Why? Because Mom manageed every aspect of their life. So these bright students went off to school and failed miserable. Just a precautionary tale. 4) On a related note, you are their PARENT not their FRIEND. Have made that mistake myself, and it's really hard to be authoritive that way. Lots more, but have to run for now. I realize these are "bigger picture" type of advice, but frankly the baby part is easy. Feed nap poop repeat.
  19. Yea, honestly I don't see a Randolph comparison at all. Camby is a pretty good comp for Sanders. And this may sound crazy, but Mutumbo is starting to look like a pretty valid comp.
  20. Wave a magic wand and turn himself into a guard.
  21. Ellis took 28 shots and had TWO freethrow attempts. To be fair, Ellis never seems to get fouls called when he drives. Jennings either for that matter.
  22. Does he have a favorite player? Maybe an autographed baseball in a case would work in that price range, as long as it's not Braun of course. I've done that several times. Of course there's always Brewer clothing or plenty of other Brewer logo'd gear. How about Opening Day tix?
  23. Off the top of my head, these guys all fit that bill: Axford, Henderson, Kintzler, Sanchez, Burgos, DeLosantos, Manzanillo, Stinson, Scarpetta.
  24. I vaguely remember that scenario with Estrada. He wasn't exactly air-mailing balls 18 rows into the stands like someone I could mention. Anyhow, I think the first thing we need to remember is that they could have exactrly the same bullpen next year, and they don't blow 28 saves. I'm not saying changes don't need to be made. We just have to understand there was a stretch of games this year far beyond the normal curve of what you would logically expect. Parra has to go. Loe has to go just because of his arby number. KRod, same story. He's not horrific, but will simply cost far more than someone who can get you similar results. Good news is, there are options. Thornburg, Burgos, Sanchez could all start the season in the bullpen. There are other guys at each level of the organization who could come up later in the year. I just don't want to see a panic move, spending millions on a multi-year deal or two for bullpen arms.
