  1. Depends what you mean by "in contention" and "mid-season." Depends how many teams they're behind, how many games they're behind, etc. if they're 7 games out in July, no Melvin isn't going to trade young talent at that point. If they're 2 games out in August, sure they would be in the market for a SP. But if they are in that position in August, it would tell you the SP is doing well anyhow right?
  2. Jeez Braun I've seen relief pitchers take better hacks than this
  3. Everyone has a Panda Express near them, it's a chain. And I don't know for sure, but i don't think Panda is on the menu. But since I can't be sure, i stick to Taco Bell, at least I know their meat is at least 42% beef.
  4. [quote="xisxisxis" And welcome. Anyone who has a child who thinks Yuni is crap even after hitting a grand slam has great genes.... Small sample, but this is a top 5 quote this young season.
  5. Jeez, that HP ump really is huge. I don't imagine too many players or managers get in his face.
  6. I don't know why they would be trading for SP mid-season if they're not in the race, but I do predict we'll see just about every starter in Nashville at some point this year.
  7. Welcome aboard. First post an anti-Yuni post, well played. You'll fit right in.
  8. Blue is getting the same advice a ton of other under-classmen are getting. It's a weak draft year, so enter the draft. There's a lot of guys who have announced they're coming out, and a lot of them a just don't get. I agree with you Paul, McNeal was a better player than Blue in almost every way. But, Blue has one thing going for him- big time quicks. There may be teams out there that see him as someone who could develop into a Monta Ellis type of player (albeit an even worse shooter.) You can hang around in the NBA for a while if you do one thing very well. In the NBA Blue will have more room to navigate, and get into the paint ona regular basis with his quickness. So while McNeal is a better all-around player, Blue is more athletic and quick.
  9. Haven't read all 7 pages, so this may have been brought up already. Where was his entourage? Someone should have steeped up to stop him from driving. Not that it excuses Yo in any way, but that has been discussed in detail. So I'll focus on why didn't someone stop him? .22 is too drunk to hide. It must have been obvious. I have stopped friends from driving before, not too difficult. Just don't let it become a debate. Dude...you're not driving- period. And many ways to do that, believe me.
  10. Have also heard Juan Anderson is transferring, but haven't seen any published reports yet
  11. I'll also add that all too often people reference trades that "should have been made." None of us have any idea if potential trades circulating in the media have any validity whatsoever. I would bet most of the potential trades we hear about are not reality. GMs play games all the time for various reasons. Plus, just because team x is looking for a 1B, doesn't mean they would be remotely interested in Corey Hart. (As an example.) But we take bits and pieces of info, then add speculation on top of that, then say a year later the Brewers shouldhave made the trade. I say all this because yes, BF is for open debate on potential trades among many other things. I just don't like it when so often people talk about potential trades as though they're a done deal if the Brewers would just sign off on it.
  12. I agree with Jim on the press conferences. After every game I have at least a couple questions i would love to ask RR. Either about the game that day, or something bigger picture. But rarely do these questions get asked. Still, in all, I would rather see the full press conf rather than the other fluff. I think if we saw the full press conf every day at least useful info would bound to come out once in a while. Much better than watching how a pitcher backs-up home plate. (And I don't think the "casual fan" is interested in that stuff either.) My wife, for example, is a huge Brewers fan. Watches every game with me. And I can't tell you how little she cares about how to properly execute a pitch-out. I notice most people tend to like the player interviews and that's about it. I remember the days when the game itself was "the show." Now we apparently have a dying need for pre-game, post-game, in game twitter polls, etc. Here's an idea. Can we just watch a baseball game?
  13. No coach tells a kid when he is recruiting him that the kid has a scholarship for one year. When recruited the coach tells the kid he has the scholarship for at least 4 years. If all coaches had the same view of scholarships as you do there would be a lot more kids getting cut every year but that doesnt happen. I don't think you know what Buzz Williams tells various payers he recruits, so to suggest he over-promises is unfair speculation on your part. Jake Thomas, for example, knew he was coming to a guard laden team and shouldn't be surprised when the team has no use for strictly a shooter who couldn't shoot. In fact, maybe Buzz has players transfer because he is brutally honest about their future instead of making promises he can't keep.
  14. I honestly don't know what the fuss is about. Scholarships are given a year at a time, nobody has a birthright to be guaranteed a 4 year scholarship. If a player isn't as good as someone coming into the program, that's life. Just as I don't shed any tears when a player decides to transfer (like Maymon.) On a side note, I think Ferguson should have been getting Mayo's minutes, and he wouldn't have transferred. I can't blame the kid, with the guards coming in playing time won't increase for him, that's for sure.
  15. A day off does not guarantee no injuries. For the love of god Lucroy, please keep your suitcases on the floor where they belong.
  16. If I knew how to post gifs, it would either be a train wreck or sinking ship. Sadly, just writing it isn't any fun.
  17. Now THAT'S accurate journalism.
  18. I raise. I'll throw in Jerry Augustine, Mark Conccoaacnncan, and generally the entire pre and post game shows. And the sultry FSN girls.
  19. Cold, rainy Tuesday night. Garbage bag ripped leaving a trail of garbage juice from kitchen to garage. Plus TRats game cancelled. Looked like Brewers would win to save the night. Thanks for nothing RR and your "retooled" bullpen.
