  1. Yikes. Hadn't realized his cap number was that high. Considering they'd only carry a $2mil dead cap number if they cut him, that seems possible if they can't work out an extension to re-work that number. This made me look into cap for next season. They are $32MM under. Add $8MM for Linsley and another $8MM for Graham, and total is $48MM under the cap. So they can be big players in FA again.
  2. Ersan getting a lot of love lately, and rightfully so. But the Lopez boys have been great the last few games. I still believe that's one of the x factors in playoffs- let the Lopezeseses work to score a little more in the post. They can both score there, plus it rally helps open up the court.
  3. Yes, let's have the marketing department make the personnel decisions. Seems prudent.
  4. So FSN offered the Brewers $60MM and the Brewers turned them down? How exactly do the Brewers magically get triple the amount for their broadcast rights?
  5. True last season as well. They just need to play that way throughout the playoffs, hoping that experience last year will help.
  6. Even if they have a terrible season I'll still trust Stearns. They're entitled to a bad year, it happens. Especially when you lose Grandal, Moose, and others then hit an aggressive year in FA. I honestly don't know what people expect. The blueprint is to build a "good" team every year. If a few players over-perform you're a contender and can buy at the deadline. But we can't expect them to be contenders every single year, that's unrealistic. They could go out and spend $200MM and their roster still wouldn't look as good on paper as other teams, so that's a foolish way to try to compete. Finally, there is no such thing as a Yelich window. One player has nowhere near the impact as a HOF QB or NBA player. In fact, if anything, the window was 2018. When you're the Milwaukee Brewers, that's your shot. They got so close, and it's really tough to get back to that position.
  7. No chance. Somehow that's become the narrative around here. CC likes to play a scrappy AAAA a lot. Not sure where that came from, but there's no evidence of this.
  8. Seems like a lot of people believe Braun getting a lot of time at 1B is a done deal. I think that's assuming a lot in December, there will be more moves to come. Maybe he will, maybe we won't but some of you are you are presenting this as though it's a given.
  9. We should know by now, position is pretty low on the list when Stearns acquires players. They need to replace win shares, and you make the deals you can get done and worry about positions the next day. Also, the whole notion of "starting OF" or "4th OF" is old thinking. These things generally take care of themselves over the course of a season due to injuries, performance, etc. My guess is they're careful with Yelich early in the year, plus more careful with Cain throughout the whole year. Garcia won't play every day either. So plenty of ABs to go around even if Braun never plays a day at 1B.
  10. Look at the history of the Transactions forum. Success rate is very low when you look at all the starting pitchers people wanted via FA or trades, and how they turned out. Funny thing though, when one...two...six of these guys don't pan out posters just go on the next name. Stearns doesn't have that luxury. If he throws 5 years/ $120mm at a big name starting pitcher and it doesn't work out, that money is spent. Oh, and by the way, no flexibility to fix it. This shouldn't have to be explained every year, but it's a no-brainer to have several Lindbloms and Burnes rather than the tremendous risk of signing a big name pitcher.
  11. Stupid cheap Stearns.
  12. Like most tools, spin rate can be over-emphasized. When you don't have areliable 2nd pitch, let alone 3rd or 4th, spin rate won't save you
  13. He's now a Brewer pitcher, so guessing a fastball and a slider he's "working on."
  14. Beauty parlor Billfold Slacks
  15. Meh, this complaint comes from people who don't watch much NBA. They don't realize there's a lot of open 3s in every single game. Don't bother with facts, this stuff started mid season last year and hasn't stopped. Much like the Grandal is a bad defensive catcher take, just because you focus on afew dropped pitches. 90% of people here will never use the words " you know what, I didn't know that, maybe you're right." Best to move on. Much like the Mark A is cheap because he's a billionaire schtick.
  16. This one's for CHL. Sterling Brown just may eat himself out of the league.
  17. It's so simple. Stay healthy and play your game. Do that, and nobody can beat them 4 games in a series. Not last year, not this year.
  18. I don't think this has been a "thing" since the 1950s. Nothing to back that up either, other than what I was told by a pitching coach a few years ago. Pitch sequencing is is done before a series/game with the analytics people, scouts, coaches etc. In game, the bench does most of that.
  19. I still find myself watching them and realizing they can go 13 deep without me shouting "He's useless, why is he out there!!!" 13!!! Yea, a player may have an off night, but every one of those guys brings something to the table.
  20. Stearns trashes SS (Arcia) when offseason starts, says they need to improve, gets Urias, and then talks about him improving the SS position. His chances to be on the opening day roster (assuming he is healthy) is near 100%. He wasn’t traded for to be riding the bus in AAA. Well, Urias is not leading off. That's my main point. And you're reading way too much into Stearns comments about Arcia. With all the non-tenders why did he pay Arcia? So yes, it is possible Hiura/Arcia start the season and they don't want Urias wasting away on the bench and give him regular ABs in AAA. Possible. It's not like Urias was raking in his limited time in the majors.
  21. This whole conversation is foolish. Every professional league is the same way. NBA, NFL, MLB, Premier League, whatever. You have the top handful of teams that are heavy favorites, then a group that can win it all if everything goes right plus a little luck, and then the Washington Generals of the league that are there so a regular season can exist. Parity isn't an issue for just the NBA. As Brewer fans we should know that all too well. But if you enjoy basketball/NBA, you can enjoy just the entertainment without having something hinge on every game. Just as we can enjoy a Brewers/Reds game in May, knowing that one game won't mean much of anything. I mean, what's the difference?
  22. I don't understand why everyone assumes Urias will be on the opening day roster, let alone the lead-off hitter. Cain will be the lead-off hitter on opening day.
  23. Watching Giannis is so boring I usually fall asleep.
  24. Maybe that article could have had a different headline or focus, but as an Xer I'm always interested in trends (big or small) going on with the younger generations. For example, I noticed a trend of millennials choosing to live where they want and find a job there. This was before there were articles written about it, and was a known "thing." As opposed to previous generations where you would climb the ladder and move wherever that would take you. FWIW, we're inconsistent Christmas tree people. We have an artificial, but randomly will get a real tree some years if we (she) feels like it.
