  1. Mat Gamel will be the next Corey Hart. Under appreciated while putting up above average if not great numbers for the Crew regularly.
  2. Is there still a Madison team or is this just Milwaukee?
  3. http://newspaper.li/static/0ef4c1b7f8339a31bbda4cb66bf3a0be.jpg Assistant manager or assistant to the general manager???? Exactly what I thought when I read it haha
  4. Special Assistant to the General Manager. Guess we know why Doug didn't cut Craigger last season. Congrats to Craig. Glad he is going to stay a part of the Brewers organization.
  5. Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it!!! Were you at the Madison location?Yes sir. Never got around to checking out the MKE one when I lived there.
  6. I can attest to the quality of recte's place food wise. Was in a few days ago and sampled some of the burgers. Very good stuff. AJ's is a good spot!
  7. http://milwaukee.brewers....ey=news_mil&c_id=mil One year deal and gets a $500K raise
  8. Yea I tried that earlier. Was going for another means of showing how silly the argument is.
  9. To follow up on this: Escobar 2010 WAR = .9 Yuni 2011 WAR = .5 I know WAR is a disputed stat, but saying that Yuni's 2011 was a clear upgrade over Escobar's 2010 is wrong. If you want to argue against WAR and use the eyeball test that's fine, but its hardly clear. This is all a moot point though because we likely don't get Greinke without giving up Alcides.
  10. Since WAR was used as proof of how bad YB was by many I don't see how Izturis fares any better by that metric. His glove is better than YB but he may be the worst hitter in all of baseball offsetting his glove completely. YB's WAR for 10 & 11 was 0.9 and 0.5. Izturis for 09 & 10 (he was hurt for most of 11) was 0.7 and -0.3, actually worse than YB. I want no part of his bat being used to PH ever, it was bad enough with Counsell last year being trotted out there to PH.The point was that they aren't the same player. Both of them suck as starters and I'm not jumping for joy over the signing but as a bench player I'd rather have the glove of Izturis than the bat of Yuni B.
  11. At least some of the fans remain optimistic. I'll admit I am quite pleased with the way this offseason has gone viewed relative to the 2012 season. If Braun wins his appeal I feel very good about things. Bravo Brewers fans.
  12. Yuni B's bat = Cesar Iztruis' bat (actually Yuni is a better hitter, but not by much) Izturis is a much better defender than Yuni ever was and is therefore a better player. I don't want Izturis starting, but this is exactly the type of guy the Brewers should have on their bench.
  13. They have statistics so you don't have to watch all the games. I'm not trying to argue that Alcides is Jose Reyes. I was saying that your argument that Yuni was an upgrade over Alcides is false from just about every rational view point. As to it not being 1967. Thanks I was unaware of that. That being said there are plenty of people who play premium defensive positions like SS very well from the defensive standpoint and are continuously employed. Some guy named Izturis comes to mind. Guys like that have a place on MLB rosters. Defense can outweigh offense and last year that's exactly what Escobar did. His contributions in the field outweighed his negativity at the plate. The reverse was not true for Yuni.
  14. May have a case in 2011??? Escobar posted a .633 OPS and Betancourt posted a .652 OPS. Add in 26 SB's and the difference probably closes to negligible at the plate. Escobar was one of the better defensive SS's in MLB, Yuni was the worst. Escobar was a 2.2 WAR player, Yuni was .5 WAR Why bother comparing 2010 Escobar to 2011 Yuni? Obviously Escobar was a rookie in 2010 and he would only get better (as he proved in 2011). It wasn't even close, in 2011 Escobar was the better player and that's what matters. There are obviously other considerations and I am glad we traded Escobar, but in a vacuum Escobar as our 2011 SS > than Yuni so not sure how you can argue Yuni was an upgrade. It is apparent you don't think much of Escobar and that is fine, but at least fake objectivity.
  15. Whoa whoa whoa. Tell me tickets have not gone on sale yet.
  16. The guy is a 3x batting champ, 2x MVP and 6x all star and people are acting like we just signed Rodney Dangerfield. I understand that success in Japan does not mean success in MLB, but this guy is basically Japan's best hitter.
  17. Aoki has a career OPS of .855 to Fukudome's .940 so while I agree Fukudome had more power its not as if Aoki has none. They hit 2B's at about the same rate, but Fukudome hit them over the fence more often. I'll still say that Aoki has been the better more consistent hitter while Fukudome was more inconsistent. The Juan Pierre comparisons just don't make any sense. Dude isn't the next Ichiro, but he has been the best pure hitter over there since Ichiro. As to the Morgan point. Aoki can hit both righties and lefties which Morgan cannot. Morgan's D is above average, but from what I am reading about Aoki I am expecting GoGo without GoGo's arm (which is the same problem Morgan has). I guess I am curious why you say he would be downgrade. I don't think its as cut and dry as you're making it.
  18. I see the Juan Pierre thing all the time and I don't get it at all. Aoki will likely not be Juan Pierre. If you want someone to compare him to think Fukudome although Aoki was a better, more consistent hitter than Fukudome was and is a better fielder.
  19. He played CF in Japan, but projects as a LF in MLB because of fringe arm strength. Very quick and takes good routes to the ball, but the arm strength isn't there.
  20. Completely agree with this. IMO people in general really undervalue what Hart brings to the table. I want him to stick around as long as possible because he is undervalued for whatever reason making the production we get out of him cheap in comparison.
  21. Probably, but the dude is a better Japanese hitter than Fukudome was and has been more consistent. Last year was basically the first year he ever hit under .300 and other than that has never hit below .320. Fukudome had more power in Japan, but Aoki has some power too. The guy hit better and more consistently than Fukudome but not on the same level as Ichiro. This is a good move.
