  1. Imagine being the PA guy/DJ. What a trip.
  2. Is there a video of this anywhere?
  3. This was the time to argue the call. The ump made his decision and then reversed it because Gardenheir came out and argued. You can clearly see him telling Mauer to come back to the plate which causes him to get heated and show his hand. Then Gardenheir comes out and flips his lid. The ump is standing his ground and then all of a sudden he just gives in to Ron. This is ridiculous. I have never seen a call reversed by a manager going out and arguing. When that call got changed I said to my gf Macha is going to get tossed. Unless that call gets reversed again there is no way he should be leaving that field. I don't know that it has anything to do with a disconnect between player and manager but I know I as a fan was thinking what the heck. You just got hosed Macha and you are not standing up for yourself. I can only imagine what a player would be thinking. BTW I also like the fact that Macha is a cool, calm guy, but that umps call was unacceptable.
  4. How so? Bill Hall is by far the worst regular player against righties. He cannot hit them plain and simple. No one is saying he is a bad guy, but he should not be at the plate against a RHP. He is just brutal against them.
  5. Its something like "All hands on deck, Prince is up next." Its gotta be a made up song.
  6. Seeing as I am graduating this sunday I feel that I need to contribute to this thread and dispense any wisdom I may have gained over the past four and a half years. I am a non-trad, but I went back to school when I was 22 so not that untraditional. I can't tell you much about dorm living because I never did it. 1. Something nobody has said yet is don't be afraid to change your plans while you are in school. I went through a whole host of different things that I wanted to do. Thats ok. Just because you set out on a path when you are a freshman, don't let anyone tell you that you have to stay on that path. Always be looking at your options. Thats the best part about college. 2. This is where grades come in. In some things they don't matter, but what if you decide in your junior year you want to go into law. Those two years you spent getting by with a 3.0 no matter how you spin it won't be as much as a benefit as working a little bit harder. IMO going from C's to B's or B's to A's really does not require that much extra effort. There are countless times where after the semester I found myself saying "If I would have just went to class more" I would have had an A instead of B. 3. Go to class. You will think I can just review the powerpoints myself and learn it. Sure you can but why go through the extra effort when you can sit in lecture and have someone teach you. You are paying thousands of dollars for an education. Take advantage of it and get the most out of your money. 4. Also just because you get a degree doesn't mean that you are entitled to a job. Do the leg work and investigate the careers you want and what you need to do to obtain them. Talk to you professors. They are for the most part more than happy to meet with you and let you use them as a resource. So many students just go to class or even less than that. They are there to help you and some will be more willing than others but they have been where you are and know how to get you to where you want to be. They are an amazing resource and you are paying their salary so take advantage of their knowledge 5. Don't buy your books until after the first week of class unless you know you will need it. For most classes I didn't do any of the readings. Very rarely will professors test you on readings and lectures. 95% of the time it is only based on what they went over in class. So go to class and save the money unless you need it. 6. Also don't let anyone tell you that you can't do all of this and not have a social life. I worked 30 or more hours a week, took full time classes and had a great social life. Time management is essential. Get your things done but make sure every day you give yourself time to relax and unwind. Learn how to schedule your time wisely and it will pay off exponentially. 7. NEVER EVER STUDY FOR MORE THAT FOUR HOURS AT A TIME. People talk about how they pull all nighters and study for 12 hours. If you are doing this you are wasting your time. Studies have shown that productivity decreases at the four hour mark. Study for a few hours. Take a break for a half hour or hour and then come back to it. Trust me on this. Even if you are writing that paper at the last minute take at least a half hour off every few hours. The quality of your work will improve and you will retain more information.
  7. Jorge Julio. Not sure thats any better.
  8. Whats wrong with those guys? I think its kind of funny. People take their shirts off at Packers games all the time. Yeah its kind of gross but to each their own. If some guy had I <3 Cubbies shaved into his chest and was cheering for his team when appropriate I wouldn't have any problem with it. As long as you aren't infringing on my right to enjoy the game be as out there as you want.
  9. Haha! I would venture to say a lot of females don't find many of the things us males say as funny as we do.
  10. This is exactly right. Most of the population, particularly in America, have at least partial immunity to the "standard" flu virus from year to year due to immunizations and previous exposures to similar strains. This virus is a completely new strain that has never before been seen by the human population, so essentially no one is immune to it. There was some concern that this strain may, in fact, be more virulent than the standard flu (such as the 1918 and bird flu strains were), but those concerns are, as of yet, unconfirmed. That's not to say the possibility doesn't still exist though. So we should be aware but the media is blowing this way out of proportion?
  11. Fans boo him because he is a former Brewer who was a whipping boy in the media. In all reality Wes performed well here, but he got thrown under the bus by the media here and thats what the general public thinks of.
  12. This happens every year. For the three years or so I have been on this board, we have had a thread about Cubs fans and Brewers fans every year. Its both sides. I hate the Cubs and their fans but Brewers fans are no angels either. I've had great conversations with some Cubs fans and thrown harsh words at the ones who are out of line. I honestly would never act the way some of them do when I go to Wrigley, but I know plenty of Brewers fans who go down there just to antagonize Cubs fans in their home park. The thing I cannot stand is the Cubs fans who come to MP in Cubs gear when they aren't playing and start lets go Cubbies chants when the Chokes are in San Fran or something like that. When people cross the line like that I have no problems telling them to sit down shut up and just enjoy the game thats going on.
  13. Can someone please explain how this is different from the normal flu? I'm not saying this in a snotty way, I'm honestly curious. I just haven't read anything that has shown this is different other than the fact that its not happening during normal flu season. The flu kills a lot of people every year. I'm just wondering how this is any different. Does anyone have any links to something I am missing?
  14. Not to mention they have Zambrano and Soriano on their team. Get off your high horse. The hate is only coming because Braun is better than anyone on their team.
  15. Mr. Braun - Can I have your babies? -the avrock Did he really pimp walk?
  16. I love drive-ins! Used to do it all the time as a kid and I am making a point to do it more this summer so this is awesome to me. I just bought tickets to the June 6th one. Here is a link for those who want to take a closer look. It does say you can tailgate "just like you would at a game." This seems like a great deal. Maybe I just love drive-ins. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/ticketing/drivein.jsp
  17. Could not agree more. The thing about Ned were that he was a great players manager and motivator, but a horrible in game manager. His decisions always seemed to lack rationale and he consistently did what he thought instead of what the situation deemed necessary. In my opinions this is because of his lack of flexibility. I never expected to agree with all of Ned's decisions, nor do I with Macha, but if a situation screamed for something ie: some of the ones Ennder mentioned above, then get your head out of the clouds and do it instead of being so inflexible that you can't pull the trigger. The thing I like about Macha is he seems to have a much greater degree of flexibility.
  18. This sucks for baseball and for fans. Its much easier to pile on a player like Bonds or A-rod, guys who just kind of come off as jerks. I love Manny. I know some people dont think his antics are funny but he never seems to take himself too seriously and that is refreshing. I do wonder whats up with the 15 drug tests he says he passed over the last five years. Do players really get tested that frequently?
  19. Seriously though you have a ten run lead. Attack the zone for God's sake.
  20. On the air Ueke was just gushing about how much better Weeks looks in the field, saying he doesnt rush his throws or turns on the DP. Also was talking about how his approach at the plate is a lot better as well.
  21. Can people point out instances of how Braun is cocky? I never get it. I guess the watching home runs every now and then. But pretty much everyone does that at some point and I don't remember the last time he has done that anyways. I think maybe some people are confusing cocky with confidence. Braun is incredibly confident and you can tell that by his body language and the way he carries himself. I never hear him talk about him being better and what not than others. Its never a me me me show, at least in public. He's just a confident guy.
  22. I have little sister who is a freshman and a brother who is a senior. They both don't like the show because "it makes them look like a bunch of idiots" and thats not the way they really are. Madison is much more than a party school, but it is pretty booze friendly as well. I think a school as large as UW is can be both a good academic school and one that likes to party as well. That being said I have no doubt MTV edits their footage quite a bit to get what they want out of it.
  23. They said it was a hamstring cramping, so that is encouraging. If thats all it is I would imagine he isn't out a significant time at all.
