  1. Because it's in his contract. Melvin was able to sign Edmonds because he promised Edmonds a certain amount of starts per week. Pretty much, Melvin forced Macha's hand by making the deal.
  2. Hart isn't worth anything more than a 3. Package him with a Parra or Gamel and then you may get your front end pitcher. But for Hart alone....not going to happen. I'll take Minor...sign me up.
  3. any connection to the possible Cain promotion with this trade rumor? With Gomez being possibily traded with a top prospect for Lee, I could see Cain's promotion connected.
  4. You did a nice job analyzing the recent trades by Melvin, however, where are the pitchers? what did Linebrink do for us? Nothing. CC got us to the playoffs, but he was gone quickly afterwards. I think a lot of the skeptisism by Brewers fans come from Melvin's lack of success with obtaining good pitching when he makes trades. Chirs Capuano is the only one I can think of as I do not count the CC rental. Melvin has shown with the Rangers and the Brewers that he and his minions can build a heckovan offense, but has no ability whatsoever in building a competitive pitching rotation.
  5. trade him while he's a hot commodity. Not familiar with those prospects, but if you can trade him for something decent that can help us pitching wise in the future...you gotta go for it now.
  6. For the offense, it's somewhat ok. I know players really like to get comfortable in certain spots. It just perplexes me that he hasn't been able to stick to a certain line-up since our offense hasn't been the main issue. I would like him to stick with Rickie in the 2 hole though.
  7. Ok, so yesterday you have Counsell in the 1 and Weeks in the 2. I've been asking for Weeks in the 2 hole even before the season began...but then Macha put Edmonds in front of Hart who has been raking in the 5 spot. Why mess with Hart? Yes, Hart had a HR, but I was not happy with moving him from behind McGehee. Now today, you have Edmonds leading off. Say Wha? I'm frankly getting sick and tired of Macha messing with the line-up everyday. By this time in the season, if you don't know what your line-up should be, you don't belong managing a baseball team. And it's not just the line-up....he's messing with the pitchers too much too. One day, Cappy is a starter, the next he's in the pen. One day Parra is in the Bp and the next he's a starter and then he's back in the BP. Again....Say Wha? C'mon Macha. Stop messing with your players heads! I've never seen this much finagaling with the players in all my days of baseball fanhood. I can't believe we haven't heard more ruffling from the players regarding Macha's decision making....or lack of skill with decision making.
  8. So....if the Brewers lose today and lose the series against the worst team in baseball at Home....does that require a revisit to idea of Something Must Change? I think so.
  9. TH just hit a new low. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/94199619.html Really?! I think TH should go to his boss and tell him to fire him. Tom has obviously lost his game and should take the pressure off of his boss. How about, NO! Macha needs to do his job!
  10. Melvin drafted Gallardo over Jack's objections. So yeah, not really as cut and dry as you think. As much as Jack Z gave us some terrific position players he left us a long period without big league ready pitching. We're paying the price now. Z was also working under the helm of DM. It was Melvin's choice to focus on certain areas such as position players. Z did a good job with what he had to work with, or should I say...work for?
  11. Interesting. What do you think this means for Macha? Now that one team has started the firings, more might follow as they never want to be the first to do so. Hmmmm, Macha can't be liking this news at all.
  12. All I gotta say is Macha is lucky he put in Gerut. I didn't think he wouldn't put him in, but I'm glad that he did...otherwise he would have gotten rocked on all forums of this nature. Go Crew! Finish it up.
  13. Heckuva grab by McGehee!!!! Nice save for Hoffman, he obvisouly needed some good tidings and a great opening win to the series. GO CREW!!!! Time to get hot!
  14. What about bringing up Katin? Gerut or Hart could play CF and have some added offense with Katin play RF. That's my vote!
  15. If it weren't for Hoffman, we'd have a winning record right now. Simple as that. Macha isn't the best skipper out there, but he is hardly fireable at this point in the season. Hoffman lterally killed every ounce of enthusiasm this team was riding. The bats are silent right now, but they'll get hot. The only problem is that we're playing like crud and we're on a west coast swing right now. By the time we get back to Mil-town, we could easily be 10 games under .500. Then it doesn't get any better from there as we play Philly, Cincy and Minny. For that reason, Macha could be in trouble. I say that because the Brewers are simply not as good as those teams/situations (west coast), but Macha will get the ax because our record will be horrendous by the end of May. If Macha gets the ax, I don't see how Melvin doesn't. Either way, Melvin's job with the Crew will depend on how he handles the Fielder trade this July. In recap, I don't think Macha is to blame but he will get fired eventually because the team that Melvin gave him is just not that good. I blame Hoffman for everything that has occured this season so far.
  16. They needed help in the BP. Not a bad move. I dispise Zambrano and I'm glad he got demoted!
  17. I just don't trust Melvin to get the quality pitchers in return for Prince. I'm ok with trading Prince, and I understand that we're most likely not going to get equal talent for talent for Prince...but what has Melvin showed that we can trust him in building a pitching rotation? Capuano and Bush are the only decent pitchers (other than CC) that he's gotten in a trade.
  18. Is there any possibility that they are working both Narveson and Parra to showcase one of them for a possible trade, while keeping Suppan fresh in Minors?
  19. With the way Hart has been batting, he has not earned a starting gig in RF. For that reason, here's my new line-up. Weeks, Escobar, Braun, Fielder, McGehee, Edmonds, Zaun, Pitcher, Gomez I would actually rather have Edmonds and McGehee switch, but I wouldn't want a lefty batting behind Fielder. Weeks, Edmonds, Braun, Fielder, McGehee, Escobar, Zaun, Pitcher, Gomez wouldn't be that bad either.
  20. My guess is that there going to send Gomez down and let Edmonds and Gerut play CF.
  21. Soup dishing out 2 long balls in the first inning. If someone is giving him advise to give up HR's to make the starting rotation, I would listen to different advise if I were him.
  22. In TH's blog this morning he states... "At some point, barring injury, it seems they will have to pick one or the other for the rotation, because the first three spots are taken with Gallardo, Wolf and Davis, and Suppan at present seems lined up at No. 5. We'll see how that plays out." If this is the logic that the Brewers are toying with, I would be upset. If you have two people battling over the 4 spot, wouldn't it just make sense to have one of them be the 4 and one of them be the 5?, pushing Suppan out of the rotation? Seems logical to me. Add in Narveson and Soup has no right even being mentioned in the starting rotation. Looking back on it now, I'm glad I took Logic 101 in college. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. I thought that Parra's curve was lookin sharp yesterday. I specifically remember him facing a lefty, brought a FB up and in to the chin. The next pitch was a wicked curve buckling the knees of the batter. That made me smile.
