  1. We should try to keep them all except KRod but only because I think he will get a lot of money. Of course the other 2 are at an age where they could decline rapidly.
  2. aaand there's the Yuni we know. I agreed with starting Marcum. We probably should have gone to a one inning reliever instead of Narveson but I still don't have a huge problem with that move. No idea why Saito was held back though. I would have brought him in earlier and made him pitch till his arm fell off.
  3. Man I hope Hairston isn't hurt. Of course if he is it sets the stage for a 3 HR game for Green.
  4. I really don't have much of a problem with all that. What I don't like is them acting like that then calling out other players for that same behavior.
  5. The 18th would be normal rest for Wolf. Marcum may or may not pitch well but I will not fault the manager for starting him today. On the other hand, he needs to pull Marcum and not worry about trying to save the pen if things are not going well.
  6. The 17th is normal rest for Gallardo so I have no problem with the manager holding him back for game 7. We need to win both games anyway and Gallardo will probably be better on normal rest.
  7. What do Cards fans think of Carpenter, Pujols and Molina? I consider them to be pretty hypocritical much like LaRussa. They all call out players for things they do themselves.
  8. As far as I know he hasn't voided his contract yet.
  9. Both teams have played each other quite a bit so neither has any surprises out of the pen. I really really dislike LaRussa he is using his bullpen the correct way. There is zero reason to push your starters longer. There are plenty of off days off to get rest for your relievers.
  10. What does the last letter stand for? There you go.
  11. That Weeks throw was atrocious and no fault to Prince. It wasn't Prince's fault but a good 1B would have saved an error. It bounced between Fielder's legs.
  12. A good 1B would have saved a couple of the errors. Yes we are below average defensively at every position other than CF and maybe C and 2B. You know you are in trouble when your best infield defender is Weeks. Hart has been a bad defender for a couple years. The most disappointing of the bunch is Braun. He has obvious athletic gifts that would seem to lend themselves to being a good defender. Hairston seems pretty good so that's nice.
  13. I don't go around bragging about all their championships, though. It's not like I fondly recall memories of Vince Lombardi and Bart Starr. You personally may not but I know several people who do.
  14. He's 35. As long as we don't expect him to start a full season I have no problem with signing him. He would make a good bench player.
  15. What? Wolf has been great. They have threatened once. An average reliever is probably better against hitters than a starter on his third time through the order. We have 4 shut down relievers in the pen. This isn't the regular season where you have to manage for tomorrow or the day after. You have enough off days that any of you relievers should be able to pitch in practically every single game. We had a great chance to tack on more runs. A pinch hitter would have obviously had a better chance to make a positive contribution for both Kottaras and Wolf.
  16. Absolutely no reason to stick with a starter this far into a playoff game. It worked out but Kottaras and Wolf should both be pinch hit for.
  17. Yuni is good at getting sac flies. Not a terrible guy to have up now. Of course a hit would be better.
  18. Gamel
  19. Hart has hit RHP better than Kotsay has over the last 4 years. Not just a little bit better either. If Kotsay was a plus or even average defender I might be able to accept him playing over Hart but this is not the case either. I am with Russ on this one and am going to assume Hart is to sick to play. If he isn't, DPR has struck again. Close games like last night is where the manager's decisions can make or break you. Last night it broke us. That type of game is exactly why I was not looking forward to the manager in the post season.
  20. Hart, Weeks, Fielder, Braun, Morgan/Gomez, Hairston, Lucroy and Betancourt/Green should probably start every game. I know the results will not balance out over the post season but you still have to put your best guys out there. Small sample still applies in the post season. You still don't play the hot hand.
