  1. Very disappointing that this thread didn't get a bump with today's Zombies: A Living History on today on the History channel.
  2. You don't know it's gone until it goes over the wall. I hate 400' singles. I have little problem with showing excitement. Jump up and down cheering like an idiot after it clears the wall, I don't care, but make sure it is out first.
  3. Not to mention, Braun has never called out another player for watching their HR. Thats the problem I think most people have with Pujols watching his. Bingo. I don't care much for players watching their HR but if you are going to call out other players for a certain behavior you cannot do the same behavior yourself.
  4. I would hate to be paying 2 guys a total of $10m a year after they are gone. If there was more hope for massive changes in financial equality in baseball I wouldn't mind as much but as of right now it doesn't look promising.
  5. Lots of questions spring to mind with this one but why do you take a nude picture of your GF to the library? Would you want to use a book you found a nude picture in that wasn't meant to be in the book? How would Chris Carpenter explain all this to his son?
  6. Apparently he had issues with Carlos Lee slamming his bat down after popping out That was a big one last year if I remember correctly. Link
  7. Gamel could hit .285 and hit 25 HR, but he's not going to stress the opposing pitcher or affect managerial decision making the way Fielder did. How is that a disadvantage? If the other team doesn't make pitching changes to gain an advantage it only helps us. I would take Gamel vs a RHP over Fielder vs a LHP.
  8. Weeks is my favorite, followed by Hart and Gallardo then Lucroy. I don't get to attached to players because they tend to turn over pretty quickly in Milwaukee. Braun sort of rubs me the wrong way. I don't dislike him and am very glad he is on our team but he isn't one of my favorites.
  9. Out of sheer curiosity, who have you warmed up to? Betancourtand Kotsay. Those guys are the coolest.
  10. How wouldn't the book already be out in him last year then? I don't think it takes 1 1/2 years to adjust or find a player's weakness.
  11. I will not boo or cheer Fielder no matter which team he goes to. I never warmed up to him. I don't think it is because I knew he would be gone in a few years because I haven't warmed up to Braun either. I just hope Fielder doesn't end up in the NL. I don't want to see a competitor get better.
  12. Was McGehee really good at going the opposite way or was he just to slow to catch up with pitches and this year his skills faded just a bit more?
  13. Gamel, Green and Barmes instead of Fielder, McGehee and Betancourt and this is a .500 team. Green and Gamel could post very solid seasons and not make up for the loss of a future Hall of Famer. Barmes is a .230 hitter with an OBP under .300 away from Coors in his career. At best he's a wash. Starting pitching alone isn't going to do it. The starting pitching ERA was 6th in the NL. How many teams make the playoffs? I think you are seriously overestimating Fielder and underestimating just how poor the production was at 3B and SS even compared to average this year. If anything our biggest loss will be the pen. Fielder is a good hitter but a poor fielder who really doesn't help out the other infielders with his play at 1B.
  14. Bring on the robots umps. I for one think the Brewers series was heavily influenced by the human ones.
  15. That is really getting into semantics than actually arguing anything. Why would somebody include backups and bench players when they talk about any specific position? Are you trying to argue Yuni was the best backup SS in baseball? I don't think you are. Yuni was a starting SS. It isn't semantics. Is Craig Counsell a SS. Yes. As are a bunch of the part time scrubs who were incapable of being a full time SS because they simply weren't good enough. I agreed that he was among the worst starting SS. If the point umpherey was trying to make is that he is the worst amongst full season starting SS, I'll agree with him. You, on the other hand still need to get me that quote where I said Betancourt was close to average...or are you going to admit that you pulled that put of your you know where. You ignored my response, so I'll just assume the later. Craig Counsell is a utility player. I have been ignoring your responses because this is exactly the type of argument that drives people from this board. It is ugly because you agree overall that Yuni is a bad SS but you still feel the need to defend him and nitpick negative posts about him. I refuse to go any further into these types of discussions with you.

  17. Plus the Pirates had some dude named Andrew McCutchen.
  18. As a back up CF?
  19. Who finished in 2nd place for ROY voting behind Pat Listach? How many Brewers have won an MVP and Cy Young?
  20. I think he wore out his welcome in Washington. His attitude is really the only thing cutting into his trade value. No small thing though.
  21. Hart is NOT going to first. I saw a twitter feed from Melvin. Its not happening. Melvin says a lot of things.
  22. Our payroll obligations, not including anybody on arby, over the next few years. 2012 - $58m(Greinke, Wolf, Hart, Braun, Weeks, Gallardo, Betancourt buyout) 2013 - $40m(Hart, Braun, Weeks, Gallardo, Wolf buyout) 2014 - $34.5m(Braun, Weeks, Gallardo) 2015 - $12m(Braun, not including Weeks option) 2016 - $19m(Braun)
  23. If both Schafer and Morgan both play well next year we could flip Morgan to another team and bring up Schafer to play. Especially if we are out of the playoff picture. I could see Morgan being a very good addition to any team as a 4th outfielder.
  24. If it does bring in $20m we will probably lose some of the shared money.
  25. You said close to league average. I apologize, my bad.
