Last year we have bad defense and bad pitching with a good offense. We got rid of the bad pitching this year and kept the bad offense. I don't think balancing things out matters as long as you can make up for it in other ways.
I am not sure they would carry 6 outfielders(and I use that term very loosely for Kotsay) especially when 2 of them(hart/Braun) are likely to start almost every game.
I always think of hitter as being everything a player does at the plate. Looking it up, Braun has a better wOBA. .398 for his career to Fielder's .389. Probably has something to do with Fielder having a slow start to his career.
No, the gap is pretty huge. Tulo plays good defense at a premium position and hits nearly as well as Braun. Braun plays bad defense at a "get my bat in the order" position.
Two Women was a brewery only beer last year. I haven't tried it since it was a normal release but apparently the commercial release version now out is different.
I don't like white wine. I prefer darker dryer wines like Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet, and Shiraz. Australia makes good wine that isn't too expensive. Rosemount Estate is a winery I like.
UZR/150 by year for Teixiera starting 2003 21.4 9.5 3.2 2.0 -1.8 13.7 0.5 -2.4 He hovers around average other than a couple years. Fielder hovers around -7ish. I must have been thinking of just 2009 when Fielder had a better UZR/150. Projections going forward for Fielder and Teixiera would probably put them within 5 runs per season since you need to take 3 years and regress them a bit.
Going year to year though Teixeira has been right around average except for 2008 and previous to 2004. 2011 shouldn't be taken into consideration yet. Point being that Teixiera isn't much of a defender. Average at best but has a reputation as being a really good defender. Like I said, I was going from memory. I haven't looked it up probably since he signed with the Yankees but he was around Fielder defensively at the time despite having a good reputation as a defender.
Which essentially discredits UZRNot really. It just shows that what people think they see isn't always what actually happens. You are right, UZR measures Fielder against MLB players not college players. UZR doesn't measure balls thrown to 1B. People also think Jeter is a Gold Glove defender.
I think Gamel has better fielding instincts than Braun. His problem seems to be throwing the ball. Gamel might be the best defensive choice to play RF, LF or 1B. I still can't believe they signed Hart to that extension.
