  1. I am not demoralized at all. I thoroughly enjoy being repeatedly punched in the gut. If I had come into watching the season at this point I wouldn't be bothered much. However it seems like we have lost several game we seemingly had won. I guess that is why win probability never goes to 100% until the game is over. I hate being that 5%.
  2. Hoffman may not throw on 3 consecutive days anyway so I wouldn't read to much into it. I wasn't opposed to signing Hoffman and am still not. I just thought they signed him to quickly and for to much money.
  3. I have thought long and hard about this loss and I blame Russ. Three games attended in the last week, three Brewers losses.
  4. If the Brewers are 10 games under .500 I think ticket sales will tank Fielder or not. Weeks is already on the team so I wasn't counting him as a replacement for Prince's production. I wasn't counting on Weeks replacing Fielder's production either. It will prevent a drop off in production at the 2B spot and allow us to move Lawrie to a more favorable defensive position or to another team for players. The other thing to consider is the marketing that comes with mid-level players as opposed to that one superstar. We have Gallardo and Braun for superstars already. I think many of the "same old Brewers" fans will be placated by the long contracts that we gave to Braun and Gallardo. I don't think they will realize we only gained a couple years of time from either.
  5. First I doubt it would take two years to get him to the majors. I think he could start for the rest of the season in Nashville, pitch some as a starter in the Arizona Fall league, and then be perfectly capable of starting games at the major league level next year. You can't just go increasing a pitcher's innings by 100 from one year to the next. He might be able to start next year and this year but he would probably only be good for 140 innings tops next year.
  6. Suppan probably falls into a 5.00-5.75 ERA range for the whole year if he stayed a starter. If you had said 5.50 ERA you may have had a few more takers. ERA can just as easily be influenced by a manager as well. Parra had his ERA inflated by about 0.32 last year by being left in just one time to take one for the team.
  7. Weeks falls into that 3+ WAR player category and I think we could sign him for less than $10M per year. I say you take the $25M that Fielder is likely to demand and pay Weeks plus another player or two.
  8. Escobar was 2nd on the AAA team last year in GDP with 13. That was more than Kendall had on the MLB team.
  9. McGehee. If I remember correctly Braun didn't field the ball well. He really doesn't seem to have good baseball fielding instincts. Gamel would probably be good since his problems seem to be mostly throwing.
  10. I would also like to add that if your minor league system is not capable of produing a starting pitcher that can maintain an ERA of under 4.5 at least once every two years, it is failing. Almost no team does that. A guy with an ERA that low is league average or better. We have done a poor job of producing starters but I think your expectations are to high. The rotation would have improved without adding Wolf or Davis simply because Bush and Parra are not as bad as their results from last year. Bush got hit by a line drive and was never the same. I doubt Parra outs up an ERA that high again unless he gets hurt.
  11. I will look it up as I know I have posted it before but I think Mark A. alluded to us getting less than $10M per year from our TV contract which is the worst in baseball.
  12. Wow, one bad game and suddenly we are turning on the only pitcher who has been pretty consistent to this point. I would take one really bad game out of 4 from every pitcher if they pitched like Bush has in the rest of the games. I can understand not being happy about the rotation but I think Bush falls into the "not a problem" category.
  13. At the start of the season I was worried Edmonds was going to write the lineup every day, replacing Kendall and the Player the Manager Fears Most, but I think Macha has actually done well with the position players. Gerut is a favorite of mine, but it's hard to argue with the way Edmonds and Hart have been playing. Kotteras is playing one game a series, Counsell is getting regular playing time, Inglett is doing well and should be hitting himself into the lineup a little more often. Hard to argue more time for Inglett since it would probably be at either 2B or a corner outfield spot. Braun, Edmonds, Hart and Weeks should get almost all of that playing time. Not thrilled about Edmonds getting much time in CF with Gerut on the team but his bat may make him a better choice. With both in the outfield, I think it is bad to have Gerut in RF and Edmonds in CF. Fire him or don't fire him. Not really a big deal either way since the next guy is likely to be different not better. Considering that we would likely have Svuem of Randolph as manager at least till the end of the season we might as well keep him.
  14. One disappointing year and one pretty good year where he faded at the end when his innings were increased by more than they should have been. I completely disagree that he has been mostly disappointing because it is based on only one bad year. I think some people are way to down on Manny over last year.
  15. Right in the zone. Not really borderline at all. The ump has been really inconsistent. Not sure if it has gone against us like it did early. Have not been watching the game to closely anymore.
  16. Maybe his wife called and told him to.
  17. How do we know the players hate him?
  18. I still haven't cracked open my Dragon Age expansion. Today may be the day to do that.
  19. Sure if we ignore the previous year and all his minor league number when he was pretty good. Parra had one bad year, last year, and now he somehow isn't living up to his potential?
  20. I don't know, Zaun weakly grounds out quite a bit.
  21. This is one of those games where we would be guessing which inning Yost would go out and get thrown out.
  22. Bush has got some borderline calls but not consistently. This ump is just all over. Unless you put it right in the middle you can't be sure of a strike. Wells does seem to be getting all the borderline calls while Bush isn't so far.
  23. Zaun doesn't have much of an arm behind the plate. I am starting to sour on the guy a bit.
