  1. can anybody tell me what the disincentive to taking a banned supplement is in this case? $137,345.68 in this case.
  2. I think we are in a bizzaro world where Suppan got Parra's spot in the rotation and Parra got Suppan's spot in the bullpen.
  3. I was going to say that it might be in his best interest of his career to get away from Baker for a while but he was already on the DL with an injury so it was to late.
  4. The weird obsession with bunting is the absolute last reason to criticize Macha. It is bad game strategy in most cases. He is giving up outs. It handicaps you when you only have 24-26 outs instead of 27. Screaming wildly and spitting on an umpire is stupid over something like a blown call on a tag or the like. Maybe, maybe not. Players seem to appreciate the support.
  5. I agree Macha's regular lineup is about as good as we can expect. The only thing I might change is putting Zaun in front of the pitcher until Escobar or Gomez start taking pitches.
  6. and if they keep winning people will come right back.
  7. Prince will continue to put fans in the seats this year Winning puts fans in the seats. A crappy team with Fielder will not draw as well as a good team without Fielder.
  8. Crap, another month would put him at about one year of service time. Kind of aggravating that they might have put him on the MLB roster, especially if he had the Inglett role right now.
  9. Still not seeing a problem with Edmonds in CF so far this year, he might not be great out there but I'm not wincing when the ball is hit to CF either, offensively he is doing fine so far. The question really is whether Edmonds in CF and Hart in RF is better than Edmonds in RF and Gomez in CF or why put Gerut in RF when Edmonds is in CF. Just because you don't cringe when the ball is hit to him doesn't make him the best option. I thought a manager's job was to put his players in the best position to succeed. In my opinion Edmonds is probably the 3rd best option defensively in CF. I would go with Gerut in CF over Edmonds but could see Edmonds offsetting the difference with his bat. When they are both out there, I see no reason for Edmonds to be in CF.
  10. I think it's a generation gap type thing. Not too long ago, you had to listen to the game to follow the team. There was no web, and only about 40 games a year were televised, if you were lucky. So basically we have better avenues to keep track of the Brewers and Uecker has not caught up with the times. Maybe he would be better suited to be a TV guy. He wouldn't need to keep you appraised of the game situation since you can see it for yourself.
  11. I agree but if Stetter was brought in to face Fukudome and Adam Kennedy (or Narveson since for no good reason at all Stetter is down) we would have 2 more wins this season. Maybe. It would have improved our chances but we all know good moves and bad moves can still have good or negative results.
  12. They really don't in my opinion. The problem is that they could.
  13. My opinion of Yost hasn't changed. I didn't think Yost should be fired because of exactly what is happening right now. The next guy isn't always better especially when you are going to hire a retread. As far as Macha, it's not like he doesn't have a track record of success. This season he will reach his 500th career win as an MLB manager (assuming he doesn't get fired prematurely as some are suggesting). Much like wins for pitchers, it is more a function of the team you are managing/playing for, not anything you do as a manager. Macha could be a Looper. Wins a lot of games but in reality sucks.
  14. and 3 of those wins came against a Pittsburgh team that finished with only 62 wins.
  15. I'm glad that Macha doesn't sacrifice all the time except with the pitchers.
  16. Doens't make sense to fire the manager since the guy hiring managers will just bring in a new guy with many of the same faults. Doesn't really matter who is doing the hiring since most GM's are just going to hire a "baseball" guy. You see many of the same mistakes made by managers across the league. The next guy always looks better until you get to see him up close. Just look at the options they considered for our manager. Randolph, Brenley and Macha. Randolpf had much the same reputation as Yost. Sucked in the 2nd half and couldn't run a pen. Brenley, well just be glad we didn't get that guy. Macha was at the time the lesser of 3 evils. He was supposed to be a guy whose teams got better in the 2nd half and was good with young players. I don't think that any Brewers fans would say that about Macha now. It is highly questionable that firing Yost actually made a difference in their season. It made some fans feel better but that's about it in my opinion. Almost the whole team decided not to hit for the last month. Sveum came in and small balled us to death.
  17. No, he doesn't. Edmonds and Hart are fine and probably much better hitters than Escobar. That is before actually looking at the stats and realizing both are out hitting Escobar so far. Escobar is only getting on base at a .308 clip. He also pounds the ball into the ground and would make many of Weeks singles and walks into double plays leaving the bases empty for Braun. Escobar really hasn't done much to show he deserves to be #2 and he isn't projected to. Edmonds and Hart platooned are probably the best #2 option.
  18. probably something special to happen with either Narveson or Parra. You mean like actually being put in the rotation instead of Suppan.
  19. And so that means Gomez gets to play? Sarcasm man, sarcasm.
  20. No I don't know my stuff. I bought that board several years ago but almost never used it. It had been in storage for the last 7-8 years and was only used briefly before being stored.
  21. WOW guys. Let's see. The season is 162 games... we've played 11. Can you please stop overreacting?? It's an in game thread. Lots of knee jerk reactions. It is what the in game threads are for.
  22. I am looking for an electronic dartboard for the house. Mostly for playing cricket. I want one with a display that shows what people have closed out for at least four players at all times. I was hoping that somebody on BF.net would have some knowledge on dartboards. I have a Halex fusion bristle board I bought a few years back similar to this one but it doesn't work very well.(you get 18's when you hit ones, I think it is just worn out) I really like how it displays the marks each person has.
  23. I'd package Prince with Gamel this year before his value begins to sink. No way. Absolutely not. Gamel and Fielder? That would be a terrible idea.
  24. It honestly does sound like something Cartman would do on an episode of South Park.
