  1. Not the manager's fault. Who would have thunk it.
  2. That would be great. We just need Melvin or, in my opinion, Mark to sign off on that. Melvin hasn't, to this point, traded much MLB talent until he had to in a long long time until.
  3. I think that writing on this board helped me with my Written Communication class this semester. Other than here, I have not done much writing over the last 20 years.
  4. It's the smart thing to do. They should do it all the time.
  5. Someone disappeared from the board a couple weeks ago.
  6. Trading him for something is better than nothing or risking the QO.
  7. What kind of system specs should I be looking for to run 2 VMs at a time on a computer? this semester I was able to do a lot of my work in the computer lab, but I don't think I will have as much time to work on the campus computers next semester. I think I will be spending more time using VMs next semester too.
  8. The world may never know.
  9. I won't argue K-Rod is less of a dirtbag. The opposite actually. That is way less well known than Bonds lesser infractions. Bonds had, and still has, a very bad reputation around the league. He was absolutely hated. Like A-Rod now but a factor of 10. The guy was absolutely remorseless about doing anything. I can easily see why nobody wanted him. Edit: Bonds was the poster child for all that was bad about steroids in baseball. I don't think there was collusion.
  10. No matter which way they go, it wouldn't be shocking to see a ss moved over the winter.
  11. Miller Park is overall pretty neutral and has been for quite a while. It was the 9th highest HR park. It is very low for all other hits. Bottom 3-4.
  12. I know that. The point was that the Brewers were improving in identifying talent.
  13. I really wish the Lohse deal had worked out better for us. Hopefully it still might.
  14. I don't think it was collusion, but I remember him being extremely unpopular around that time. I can definitely see teams not wanting to bring in a guy with his reputation.
  15. If you go back and read the original Lohse signing thread I was hardcore against it and said some very mean things about him and the Brewers organization. However, watching him pitch has changed my mind. If I look at it as simply the numbers Lohse out up, he was worth the money and the pick. When considering the fact that it didn't even lead to a Brewer's playoff appearance, though, it maybe wasn't the best use of resources. Not that I have any faith in this organization that they would have drafted the right player and developed him correctly though. I don't know about that. They have been drafting pretty well for a few years now. Starting in about 2012 the draft started to turn for us. They picked up Arcia in 2011, I think.
  16. The Lohse deal was not to popular with many people when it occurred. Unfortunately, if he plays like this all year, this will turn out just as poorly as expected. It was about giving up a pick when we really didn't have a reasonable expectation of getting into the playoffs unless we got really lucky. The only hope was that we would be able to trade him at some point and get back a good young player. Gave up a pick, which sucked. Were about a .500 team, as expected. Decline in last year, hopefully he gets better.
  17. I feel the same way about Seinfeld. Never watched the show, I would tell people that and they would tell me that I had to watch it because it was so funny. So I went online and looked for what were rated as some of the best episodes and then a few random ones and it wasn't funny at all to me. Now I'm not a professional comedian or anything. The thought of having to write jokes bores me and the thought of having to perform them in front of people terrifies me, plus I'm much funnier when I don't have time to think and I just say what I'm thinking. But yeah, count me in the crowd that doesn't find Seinfeld entertaining, funny or any other positive adjective that could be used to describe that show. So, I just saw something today that stated that Bill Murray has only seen one episode of Seinfeld (the last one) and didn't find it funny, and I'm also a big bill Murray fan. In fact, if someone told me that they didn't like Bill Murray or didn't find him funny, I would be suspicious of that person as well. So......go figure. The last episode of Seinfeld wasn't very good. Terrible episode to judge the series on.
  18. Lohse's contract was never the issue. It was the pick we gave up. I have no problem with the Garza contract. Melvin has been making good moves for about a year. I have no problem with him going forward as long as he keeps doing what he's been doing. I firmly believe things like the Lohse signing are on Mark. I hope he gets out of the way and lets Melvin do what he needs to do.
  19. Yes we have a roster of homegrown players. The problem is we need impact talent™, not just MLB players. We had impact talent™ when we were bringing up guys like Hardy, Fielder, Weeks, and Braun. The guys we have now are just guys. I still believe Melvin can build a good roster and acquire good young players if he is allowed to do that. Since the Lohse/Yuni debacle of 2013 things have not been run to poorly. That was the low point. I don't mind the signing of Garza, which only cost us money. The draft the last couple years has really improved our minors league talent. They just need to realize this roster is not good enough to do more than hover around .500. They don't need to blow it up, they just need to trade a guy here and there to create a bubble of impact talent™ in the minors like we had before 2011 when they decided to decimate our minor league system.
  20. I still believe Mark didn't allowed Doug to do his job the way he wanted for a few years. There has been a definite shift in how things were handled over the last year. I don't think we would have traded a guy like Gallardo a couple years ago. We would have hung onto him and let him walk at the end of the year. The last few drafts were an improvement as well. The man at the top doesn't know what he is doing so hopefully he will let Doug do his job.
  21. Holy crap Braun is hitting better. Must be the manager or maybe Braun is just getting healthy. I didn't blame his issues on Roenicke and there is no way I would give credit to the new manager for his improvement. Braun was going to hit better or he wasn't.
  22. Source?? From glancing at Twitter, it looks like Buster Olney is saying the Brewers "aren't willing to trade Lucroy." I wonder if that means they are firm in not trading him, or if they've received some middling calls and offers on him. From an ownership perspective, I could see them wanting to keep him around as the "face of the franchise" even if they do decide to do a full on rebuild. He's under a team friendly deal for two more seasons (2017 is a club option). It probably means they already have a trade in place.
  23. I wouldn't call 2004-2005 hopeless. There was a lot of hope with many good upcoming players. When Melvin took over there was a very good start to a franchise in place. He did well for the first few years but has depleted the talent in the franchise over time.
  24. Yes, I think the team can do that. I don't think they will but they can.
