  1. If the Brewers are holding a fire sale, anything they receive doesn't have to be MLB ready. Sorry, I meant we don't have anyone in AAA who I look at and think they should be in the majors. We don't need to get MLB players back. n trade. I don't think the Garza deal is holding us back and if he gets hurt the cheap option kicks in.
  2. Nah, that second contract was pretty bad as soon as the ink dried.
  3. Mark A is the reason Mark A turned around the franchise. Increased ticket sales. Increased revenue. Under Melvin the Brewers made the playoffs twice. I believe that Mark A thinks he knows how to help us contend every year and Doug has done what Mark wants him to do. I think you are right. I hope Mark realizes we can't do that. We are going to have down years unless we draft well. Maybe even then.
  4. Funny thing if the Brewers don't have hot month last year on April they start the rebuild a year earlier.
  5. It may make sense to hold onto Garza unless we get a good offer. We don't exactly have MLB ready pitching being blocked by Garza.
  6. Yeah, that's what we need in baseball. More stupid, macho idiots trying to hurt each other.
  7. I was never a fan of Roenicke but I wouldn't have fired him at this point. I wouldn't fire Melvin either. I like the direction of the franchise since about July of last year. This wasn't Roenicke's fault. It was nothing to do with how the team was handled over the last year either. It was set up by crappy decisions between the end of 2012 and up until midway through 2014. The team is not as bad as they have played this year so far and would have/will improve form here out. The next guy is going to get undeserved credit for "turning things around." This is nothing more than a bloodletting to appease fans.
  8. Anything we get back in trade is better than paying them to be on a sub par team and letting them walk for nothing.
  9. I disagree. We picked up 3-4 high upside guys just last year. I do agree you should pick for upside not high floor.
  10. Plus there just are not to many hitters that hit like that year after year. Not like there was just 5 years ago.
  11. No one is saying finding young players is easy. They are saying we should be making an effort to get younger when the odds are that our older players are not going to play to career norms. Also, things don't even out. You should expect everything from here out to play to expectations. If they were a .500 team to start, we should expect them to play .500 the rest of the way.
  12. Over the last few years batting stats for DH have gone down quite a bit. In the AL this year SS and catcher are the only positions that do not out hit the DH.
  13. Let's ignore he would only waive his full no trade clause to go to Texas.
  14. I know when a player is hurt he always comes right back and plays like his old self. It never takes any time for a player to get their stroke back after learning bad habits. I mean Weeks always went right back to hitting just as well as he did just before he got hurt. Yeah, Braun just doesn't care or has lost it.
  15. If he used in 2012 I think it is safe to bet he is still using. Why? Back in 2012 he,had just gotten off scot free. As far as MLB waa concerned he,had never used and was still subject to first time use policy, so it didn't cost hun much when he finally did get caught. No doubt he had plenty of incentive to get a big season to try to 'prove' himself clean. If he got caught now, he'd lose out on an entire yearly 8 figure salary. He'd be one more test away from a lifetime ban which would forfeit the rest of his contract. He has little incentive to improve; I'm sure he'd like to, but he's already made as much money as he's going to make in his career. It doesn't make a material financial difference to him whether he hits .350 or .175 the rest of his career, he's still going to make the same amount. He has everything to lose and nothing to gain by using. I think it's perfectly plausible he was using in 2012 and isn't now. If he was using during the increase scrutiny he was under in 2012 I see no reason for him to quit now.
  16. Wily isn't just starting to struggle. He's had a FIP of 4.3 (2013), 4.1 (2014), and 4.4 (2015) in the majors. Last year he had "luck" to get that 3.5 ERA and the run support for the wins. For most of the year I believe he had the highest run support in the league. He can't get lefties out. I mean, like lefty hitters are a combined Mike Trout against him. He's had TJ surgery once and still throws hard with a bunch of sliders...TJ #2 might not be too far around the corner. His WHIP combined in the minors was 1.4 and his ERA was 4 combined in the minors. An ace or even higher-end rotation guy should have better minors numbers than that. I would imagine other teams also see these issues and his trade value isn't incredibly high. He's an OK piece that never has been a frontline starter prospect. It's not overreaction. I like him and he can probably be an up-and-down #3/#4 as his career progresses...but this isn't just reaction from the first 3-4 starts of the season. Peralta should be expected to out produce his FIP because he is a ground ball pitcher. FIP is way to K/9 and BB/9 based. He hasn't been getting lucky unless you mean he is lucky not to have Braun, Yuni, Fielder or Weeks fielding behind him.
  17. If he used in 2012 I think it is safe to bet he is still using.
  18. How do you figure that? A year ago the Brewers had an abysmal minor league system and an aging major league roster. I think they are in a better position right now than they were a year ago.
  19. The Cardinals will bring up some rookie who will pitch like a Cy Young candidate.
  20. I would hate to see Plush. He was an annoyance during a good season. He would be pretty unbearable now.
  21. I think we need to keep our current manager so we don't end up with Dusty Baker.
  22. I think they moved on to better drugs and masking agents. I think they are using more. Better pitching. It isn't like pitchers weren't using. Next time there is an expansion we will see the pitching talent thinned and runs go up.
  23. At least get your facts straight. He is paid no more than $15m in any year. 5 years/$105M (2016-20), plus 2021 option signed extension with Milwaukee 4/21/11 $10M signing bonus (paid in 4 equal installments each April 1 from 2012 to 2015) 16:$19M, 17:$19M, 18:$19M, 19:$18M, 20:$16M, 21:$15M mutual option ($4M buyout) price of option may increase to $20M based on MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove awards (if earned, award escalators are deferred without interest) $18M in salary ($4M each in 2016-18 and $3M each in 2019-20) deferred without interest, to be paid in equal installments each July 1 from 2022 to 2031 no-trade protection allowing Braun to block deals to all clubs except LA Angels, LA Dodgers, Miami, Tampa Bay and Washington
  24. Braun is never paid more than $15m in any given year.
