  1. Maybe Counsell should start at 2B instead of Weeks.
  2. Please don't use wins and loses to compare pitchers. Vargas was 11-6 last year and Sheets was 12-5. That is a very close record, but those pitchers are not close in talent at all. Sheets also has a losing record over his career. Would you pick Vargas over Sheets?
  3. I think once a month for the outfielders and Fielder. Once every other week for the rest of the infielders and every day after night game for the catcher. More rest if a player is dinged up. Having Fielder DH sounds like a pretty good idea as well. I think he might be a better defender than Weeks, but he can have a direct effect on the other infielders since he is involved in almost every play on the infield. Yeah I do agree that the complaing about players getting days off gets a little tiring, as does the complaints about different lineups, but that is the nature of message boards.
  4. The only way I see that happening is if we have a starting pitching breakdown like last year, and then only if Gallardo is around 90 pitches after 5-6 innings with us needing to stretch 7-8 innings out of him to save our pen.
  5. Not meaning to be rude, but just answering your question. I believe the vent thread is down a few pages.
  6. I will be worried if this continues into the regular season or if they are throwing errors. The fields in spring training play differently than MLB fields. They are harder and sometimes not as well maintained.
  7. I would appreciate a chance at the Cooper mini bobble. He was my favorite player when I was younger.
  8. During today's game they montioned(they being Brian or Bill) that Gagne was being pitched at minor league camp because he was playing like the regular season and they wanted him to hold back a little.
  9. -You spend $5 for an Opera browser for your Wii so you can visit Berwerfan during the couple of waking hours when you can't use a computer -You know the avatars for more than 4-5 posters other than your own -You refer to posts of posters in outside discussions with regularity -Brewerfan is the first and last site you check whenever you are on the internet -Brewerfan is the first place you check for new Brewer news -You start a post wondering whether or not you have an addiction
  10. Why would we need to keep Gallardo under 200 innings this year? He pitched somewhere around 180 last year.
  11. When I first read this thread I was hopeful that he was pitching better. Less nibbling, pitching to contact. I have to say after Friday's game I am not convinced. 80 pitches to 18 batters. Almost 4.5 pitches to each hitter. If he gives up a couple more hits he is at 90 pitches after 5 innings. He went very deep into counts on many of the hitters. I think he is still nibbling. He just didn't give up any hits or walk anybody. I can't find pitch counts for any of his other games so I have only the one game to go on. Bottom line is, at least for this game, he still looks to be nibbling.
  12. Well to be fair, we thought we might have something in Villanueva.
  13. I see Weeks still has a 100+ point split between his BA and OBP. Whenever his hitting comes around his OBP should skyrocket. Yost seems unconcerned, so that's good. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=728418
  14. 5 things that some guy learned from D and D. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3166835

  16. I would prefer random bold actually.
  17. I am guessing it has more to do with not knowing anything about the other guys like Pena more than coming around to Mota. Or maybe thinking that Mota has been a pretty good profesional and maybe last year was just a down year for him.
  18. Only 8? Wow, you are a tough critic.
  19. I think Gross is just a small step behind what we were trying to add over the winter. Only at 3B instead of a corner outfield.
  20. If we still had Overbay we could have had a "Show me your O face" t-shirt entry this year.
  21. I didn't watch the game to closley, yet(have it on TIVO), but it seemed like he nibbled to much last year. Of course I thought Suppan had the same problem, and Capuano, and Bush. I have no way to prove it, but it seemed like Vargas would get to 2 strikes and wouldn't challenge hitters. It was great when you needed to use the bathroom mid inning, but other than that it made for a very long painful to watch game.
  22. I recall someone posting that Hardy feels like he can play deeper up the middle with Billy at 3B. That alone should make JJ look a lot better, and I think we'll see some tangible improvement overall. Mostly based on a quote by Bill Hall in the Wisconsin State Journal. "We can already see it in spring training," he said. "J.J. told me he's able to play way more up the middle because he knows a former shortstop playing third base has some range. So he's more up the middle. I'm getting balls in the six hole and he's getting balls up the middle. That's got to be 15 to 20 more outs a year." http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/brewers/275735 http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=11206
  23. I was against the Suppan signing from the start. Not because of anything to do with Suppan, just that you don't get what you pay for in free agency. I dont like free agents in general. Most are the wrong side of 30. You pay for what they did and more than likley will not be as good as they were before they were free agents.
  24. Might be a bigger impact than we think. Hopefully our starters go deeper into games which should limit the innings pitched by roster filler relievers.
  25. I see Bush and Suppan being pretty equal as far as innings goes, but Bush is younger with more upside. Bush had the same number of 7+ inning starts as Suppan, but with fewer starts. A larger percentage in other words. That is why I had Bush over Suppan.
