  1. Didn't Fielder originaly have his dad as his agent?
  2. My bold prediction is that all of them are wrong. Except maybe the host.
  3. No kidding. No reason to act like that towards visiting fans in Miller Park either. Just say "thank you for coming and spending money so that we can improve our team." The best way to make visiting fans uncomfortable in Miller Park is to beat their teams whenever they come in. Who wants to make a long trip to see their team lose?
  4. Howard won ROTY, Fielder didn't. Howard won MVP the next year, Fielder didn't. I really question how meaningful either award actually is, but it makes a difference come contract time.
  5. Homer arguing with Tom Oats and Jeff Potrykus about lineups. Sort of shows how set in tradition some people are. Gives a little insight into our state writers. About 3:50 in. Homer says protection is overrated. Homer as read "The Book." http://www.insidethebook.com/ee/ http://www.c3ktogo.com/news-video/?section=6
  6. Probably expected the same as Weeks got or more. You know there isn't any risk for Boras by letting players go year to year. If a guy gets injured he just moves on.
  7. It will be easier to get him for $8M if we offer $8M in arby. I am not sure what Howard was offered, but the arbirators had to pick one number or the other and it sounds like the Phillies lowballed Howard so badly that $10M was closer to his actual worth. EDIT: He was offered $7M by the Phillies. We could probably get Fielder for $9M.
  8. Other than the first contract a player signs with a club, there really isn't much reason to have an agent for contracts. All the agent can do is complain. Especially with a team like the Brewers who have a set scale for prearby contracts.
  9. Maybe he has long balls. I just watched Curb season 6 and Larry had that problem.
  10. Spending money on clothes when you are fully grown is one thing. I would say spending a lot of money on clothing for your kids when they are going to outgrow them every 6-12 months.
  11. I would say Munson gets it. He is actually younger than Rivera. I am not sure Rottino is anything more than a home town kid makes good story yet.
  12. I don't remember Melvin saying anything about Gagne not going back to back days. Doesn't mean it wasn't said. In general once teams pick a closer that guy is going to get every save except in extreme circumstances. 50 saves for one team is quite a bit. Not to many teams get 50 saves in one year. Most that do don't have an offense as potent as the Brewers. If our starting pitching gets better like we expect, I see us winning more games with fewer save opportunities.
  13. Turnbow I don't like slotting the best reliever on the team into the closer's role. I think Turnbow is a very good reliever, but with his history of giving up walks, he is best brought in at the start of innings or with very few men on. I would rather free up the best relievers to come in whenever needed. Of course that isn't how things get done at the MLB level
  14. In the past his changeup has been a "show me" pitch used only 2-3 times a game. The only time he used it more was when he didn't have his curve working right. Much like most of last year. He even stated last year that he didn't have a good feel for his curve until just before he got hurt for the final time. I think you are right that he works his curve in slowly in the spring. When Sheets has been right in the past, he is basically a 2 pitch pitcher. I am not going to get to excited about Sheets until I start seeing K's and a nasty curve.
  15. Collinsworth used to work for FOX. He was they guy at the end who got picked on for a year or two before being moved to do games.
  16. I would have been much happier if he had some K's so that we knew his curveball was working as it didn't seem like he had it last year. Still it is a pretty minor complaint for a very efficient outing.
  17. That is a whole lot of saves. I doubt that anybody other than Gagne gets more than 2 saves unless Gagne gets injured at some point.
  18. All counting stats and BA to evaluate players. I guess that's what's important in fantasy.
  19. This thread is underrated. Being positive, especially on the internet is underrated.
  20. Wow, Madison being roaming would be tough on me, but I use my phone for more than just emergencies. Did you look into getting a 2nd phone on your wife's plan?
  21. Right, but like TLB said Yo won't be out long. After Yo is back we would be up to 13.
  22. I will just say TV in general with few exceptions is pretty much overrated. Other than a few select shows it is just a bunch of crap.
  23. "D-Lee fighting couldn't land his girly punch"
  24. Still leaves one extra guy. Unless you are advocating Villanueva to AAA as well.
  25. There was a report somewhere that Gagne wanted 2 years at $16M. I forget where and I am not sure of the validity of the report. I am with whoever said they don't want Gagne to get 40 saves because it means we are in to many close games.
