  1. Wow, that has to be the most horrible thing I have seen posted on this board in quite a while. Opening Day without cable.
  2. Do you have anything other than your memory to back this up?
  3. You should at least burn the easy mac a bit so it is like it is on the grill. 15 hours 39 min left.
  4. Thanks for nothing dude. Nah, just givving you a hard time.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif It looks like you posted at 7:51, but 60 Minutes is on at 6:00 here.
  5. How bad is Nix that we still have him? I would think he is out of options by now so he would have had to pass through waivers again.
  6. One played in front of a much better defense last year.
  7. Sounds like it is time for a plumbing class.
  8. The batting order in the one-game playoff is Taylor-Dorn-Cerrano (as seen in the 7th), with Hayes batting before Taylor (as seen in the 9th). Cerrano hits the homer with two outs in the 7th, and Hayes is shown batting with nobody on, and two outs in the 9th. If they faced the minimum, Hayes would've been up with only one out (#5 batter gets the third out in the 7th, 6-7-8 batters get out in the 8th, and the #9 batter gets one out before Hayes). There's no way they could've went through the line-up again without scoring a run. The furthest they could've gotten was the #8 batter (two spots before the leadoff Hayes) coming to bat in the 9th with two outs and nobody on. Per movie mistakes.com I have no way to check it out personally. http://www.moviemistakes.com/film784
  9. I have no problem with Milwaukee getting the reputation of having rowdy fans. I've heard Milwaukee called the Midwest's Philadelphia, and I have no problem with that, I have a big problem when we start to draw comparisons to what are considered to be the rudest fans in the country. I'd rather have opposing teams hate the thought of playing at Miller Park, I would hate the thought of opposing teams being comfortable in our park as well. I also hate the thought of our own team feeling uncomfortable in their home park which seems to be where we are heading right now.
  10. If the game is rained out my preference in order would be 1. Major League 2. sticking hot pokers into my eyes while chewing glass 3. Watching the Yankees-Blue Jays game
  11. I would have been upset as well if I told a new carrier when to start a contract because I already had a contract with somebody else and they started it early. I don't know why they would call your wife and change the date after you told them when to change it. I would be more upset with them than the original company. I would say that company B screwed you and go back to company A as soon as you can. The worst customer service I had was with Xbox. My original Xbox broke about 9 months after I bought it. I called in and they said it would be $75 to fix it and they would send me a box to ship it to them in. Couple weeks later and nothing, so I give them another call. They said, no it was a mistake. It would cost $120 if they send a box to me. I told them they said it would be $75 and they would send me a box. I think I ended up talking to a supervisor that time and they said they would send a box. A couple weeks later and nothing again. I give them another call. Same thing as the time before. I have to talk to the supervisor and am told $120. In the end they sent a box to me and it cost $75. It took 5 weeks just to get a box and I did get a deal I guess, but it sure was a pain.
  12. Well if it turns out to be a good move it might make up for batting Soriano at the top or close to it. My question would have to be why isn't he batting towards the top of the order anyway?
  13. I doubt most people under the age of 30 would get that reference.
  14. I would think that there would be issues with out of state stations since they would be in another team's territory.
  15. So they are currently getting $2M a year. I doubt that it will make much of an impact even if that doubles. Maybe a reliever. I am not sure if these stations brodcast all Brewers games, but here is a link. Something to try if 620 isn't coming in. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/schedule/radio_network.jsp
  16. Now I am worried about Corey Hart. I mean Weeks actually finished with a better batting average than Hart. Maybe we should send Hart down to AAA for a few weeks to get his swing right. Better yet, why don't we trade him to SF for Dave Roberts.
  17. Yeah I didn't want to even touch the Dave Bush part of the trade since there seems to be a large contingent of "Bush can only go 5 innings" people, or maybe just very vocal contingent.
  18. That's basically because we sucked at that time and didn't have better options. Now we are trying to compete and do have better options.
  19. We didn't have to give Davis a long term contract, but he threatened to go to arbitration if he didn't get a 3 year contract. At that point he pretty much sealed his fate with the Brewers. We still don't know what we got for the Overbay deal as Gross hasn't gotten a chance to really show what he can do yet, and I doubt he ever will with the Brewers, barring injury.
  20. He looked to be right about in the middle. That's with platoons at at least two positions and pulling Hall late in the year because of lack of production.
  21. That's right. I forgot. I am sure he was out of options though so we had to keep him on the 25 man roster. He seemed to be one of those guys who ran out of option before he was ready to play in the majors.
  22. I mean on a year to year basis. If I am not mistaken most managers show little correlation between actual record and pythagorean record year to year. A lot of the problem I see is that almost everything used to judge managers is so subjective. Like endaround also pointed out with the Torre example, a good bullpen will have more impact on outperforming a pythagorean record than a manager will. I wish we could find the full report and all the compiled statistics this guy used. http://www.swarthmore.edu/x17460.xml
  23. One thing that throws up red flags is any time a manager's record is compared to pythagorean record. I don't think that any manager has shown that he can outperform a team's pythagorean record on a consistent basis.
  24. The search for a good way to judge managers continues I guess.
