  1. I personally would go with the better overall hitter.
  2. Given his injury history, one year. He didn't have one healthy season with the Brewers.
  3. I think that is both true and obvious, isn't it? I would argue that because there is no noticeable choking I think that by the time players reach the majors the chokers have been mostly weeded out.
  4. So you are saying he has been using for at least a couple years now?
  5. Very few posters do. At most I have seen people say that you listen to offers on every player not named Braun. I don't think there are more than a handful of people that want to make drastic changes. Of course you are always going to get the DFA everyone posts but those don't deserve to even be addressed. What I am seeing is that people want to trade guys that will not help the team for more than a year or two for guys that will help for 6+ years. Of course if you add up each guy mentioned from every single post you are going to come to the conclusion that the board wants to trade the whole team. You have to separate each poster from the group and address posts one at a time on it's own merit.
  6. I disagree. He earned it.
  7. One bad start can do that to any pitcher over half or even a full season. Your ERA will go up about 0.25 if you have one 5 run game in a season where you pitch 180 innings.
  8. Going to a relief ace bullpen and sticking with it when there is a clear best reliever would be a big mark for him in my book. Wouldn't offset all the bunting though but close. Keeping Weeks up in the order and Gomez down would also help.
  9. If he is any good we will only have him for 6-7 years. The only thing I am worried about so far is his approach. Seems like a bit of a free swinger so far. Probably a bit early to make any judgements though.
  10. I might put Gomez behind Hart but I have no problems with that lineup until we have a clearer idea how good Segura, Aoki and Lucroy are as hitters.
  11. Not saying Braun is, but it seems like some of these guys are just going through the motions We hear that any time the Brewers are doing badly.
  12. I forgot about Ben Sheets, good pitcher or out of shape china doll.
  13. Hardy has at least been good on defense.
  14. You forgot to add in his bous paid in 4 equal instalments spread over 2012 - 2015. 5 years/$105M (2016-20), plus 2021 option signed extension with Milwaukee 4/21/11 $10M signing bonus (paid in 4 equal installments each April 1 from 2012 to 2015) 16:$19M, 17:$19M, 18:$19M, 19:$18M, 20:$16M, 21:$15M mutual option ($4M buyout) price of option may increase to $20M based on MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove awards (if earned, award escalators are deferred without interest) $18M in salary ($4M each in 2016-18 and $3M each in 2019-20) deferred without interest, to be paid in equal installments each July 1 from 2022 to 2031 no-trade protection 8 years/$45M (2008-15) signed extension with Milwaukee 5/15/08, replacing 1 year/$0.455M contract for 2008 renewed 3/2/08 $2.3M signing bonus 08:$0.455M, 09:$0.745M, 10:$1M, 11:$4M, 12:$6M, 13:$8.5M, 14:$10M, 15:$12M may earn additional $6M if Braun qualifies as a Super 2 after 2009 season, increasing salaries to: 10:$3.5M, 11:$5.5M, 12:$7.5M, 13:$9M (did not qualify) award bonus: $50,000 for All Star selection no-trade clause 2008-11, limited no-trade clause 2012-13 (may block deals to 12 clubs), limited no-trade clause 2014-15 (may block deals to 6 clubs) perks: suite for home games Braun to donate $25,000 annually to club charity
  15. He's a run scorer. You have no concept™.
  16. I have no problem with him batting 6 or lower. I actually wouldn't put him 8 since I believe the only spot where the next batter effects the previous hitter is ahead of the pitcher and I think his approach stinks. I don't have much problem with a guy batting a place or two out of where I think they should be but 4+ places is to much. I have the same fear that I had with Kotsay. Our manager has no concept™.
  17. I hate the "creatures of habit" argument. If you change how you do things that will become their new habit. It isn't like all those things you mentioned are easy to deal with when you have a 5 man rotation. If somebody gets injured you bring somebody up. If there is a double header you bring a guy up. Just like it is handled with a 5 man rotation. I would argue that it would be even easier to replace a guy in that format than with a 5 man rotation because the guy you bring up would only be expected to pitch a couple innings so he could do it between starts. Plus it limits how much exposure a rookie would have to a new team possibly making him more effective.
  18. The strikeouts were never the problem. The walk rate was and still is the problem. If his walk rate never comes around it points to him not improving his plate discipline. I hope his increase in OBP is him learning how to hit better. If he can hit like he has this year he provides a lot of value. Unfortunately he is still not a top of the order hitter.
  19. I don't think he has performed well enough to get out of the platoon as much as Morgan has played bad enough to get out of the platoon.
  20. Braun has been nicked up every single year also. I always worry he will finally get hurt bad enough to be out for a while.
  21. If somebody can convince the manager he should bat in the bottom of the order I am on board.
  22. Sure he didn't miss actual games this year but he did last year and had a knee problem this year. All I am saying is that having somebody to back him up wouldn't be a bad idea.
  23. Not that I disagree with that but the pitcher comes up in the second inning pretty often. On the road that means your starter pitched 1 inning. Does that really make sense? Yes. You prevent a really bad hitter from ever batting and you prevent a couple not so good pitchers from seeing a lineup through more than once. On the road you start the reliever. In many cases you are going to get at least 2 innings out of each guy. Starter #1 Starter #2 Starter #4 - Starter #5 - 3rd best reliever Starter #3 Starter #5 - Starter #4 - 3rd best reliever
