  1. Final: Huntsville 7, Mississippi 6 Huntsville Site Game Wrap: Link, then text: Stars Pull Off Comeback Win to End Road Trip Guilder Rodriguez walked with the bases loaded in the eighth inning to force in the game-winning run in Huntsville?s improbable 7-6 comeback win over Mississippi Sunday afternoon at Trustmark Park in Pearl. The Stars finished their 10-game road trip with seven wins to improve to 26-23 in the second half and pull to within three and a half games of the front-running Tennessee Smokies in the North Division after they were blanked by Chattanooga. Trailing 6-0 after five innings, the Stars got back on the board with a Ryan Braun solo home run, his eighth with Huntsville and second on the trip, off of Joey Devine, who had replaced starter Dan Smith, who had shutout the Stars on two hits and three walks. Smith has blanked the Stars over 10 innings in two starts and has allowed only one earned run over 27 2/3 innings in his last six appearances. Drew Anderson, Lou Palmisano and Ozzie Chavez singled to start the seventh inning against Sean White, who faced the Stars as a starter on Opening Day and who is now pitching in relief behind Smith, a converted reliever. The right-hander uncorked a wild pitch to score Anderson to make it 6-2 and advance the other runners. Carlos Lee flied out for the first out of the inning before Travis Ezi delivered a two-run, pinch-hit single to slice the lead to 6-4. Ezi would advance to second on a ground ball out, to third on a wild pitch and score on a Brad Nelson single to make it a one-run game. Anderson opened the eighth inning with an infield single, moved to second on a walk to Palmisano and both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Chavez. Pinch-hitter Ron Acuna was walked intentionally to load the bases before Ezi walked on a 3-2 pitch to push across the tying run and Rodriguez took four pitches outside of the strike zone to drive in Palmisano with the winning marker and knock in his third run of the year and first since July 25. Braun grounded into a double play to end the frame, one of four turned by the Braves. Fomer big leaguer Luther Hackman gave up two singles and struck out the side in a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the win in his first outing with Huntsville, while Joe Valentine retired all six hitters he faced to earn his sixth save in nine tries. Ray Serrano delivered two-run singles in the second and third innings and a Braun error with two outs in the fifth allowed Luis Hernandez to score to give the home team a 6-0 lead. Stars? starter Manny Parra allowed the six runs, only three earned, on seven hits and struck out six over five innings in his third turn with Huntsville. The Stars return home to open a five-game series with Carolina Tuesday night at Joe Davis Stadium with right-hander Corey Thurman taking the hill against Mudcat?s right-hander James Russ. Coverage of the game begins at 6:50 p.m. central time and can be heard locally on ESPN Radio 1450 AM and through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com. 2. Final: Arizona Brewers 8, Arizona Angels 3 Good win for the youngest of the young---Brent Brewer has actually been coming on quite a bit lately, and while his current numbers don't scream successful season, given that we know he was very raw coming in, i think we can definitely call this a productive year...perhaps he can still raise the batting and obp up in the next two weeks...His power potential is obvious. 3. Suspended: Helena 5, Great Falls (White Sox) 2, after seven innings Helena Independent Record: Brew, White Sox match comes to halt By IR STAFF The Helena Brewers will have to wait until today to determine if they won Saturday?s game with the Great Falls White Sox. The Brewers held a 5-2 lead into the seventh inning when a sudden downpour caused the game to be suspended. The two teams have scheduled the final innings to be played at 4:00 PM today (5:00 Central), pushing their second game scheduled for the same time back an hour or so. Great Falls had an early lead when Christian Marrero doubled in the third inning, scoring Scott Madsen and Lee Cruz, but the Brewers came back with runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Bill Rowe scored for Helena in the fifth when Brad Miller grounded out in the fifth, closing in on the White Sox?s lead. In a costly seventh, Great Falls? Ryan Wing walked Andy Bouchie and Zach Clem, who were both brought home on a three-run homer by Fredy De La Cruz. Steven Spurgeon replaced Ryan Wing, and Nick Walters replaced him after just one hitter. Spurgeon walked Cole Gillespie but Walters threw two wild pitches to Stephen Chapman allowing Miller to advance and eventually score. De La Cruz?s home run is his fourth on the year, tying him for third on the team with Bouchie. While Great Falls? bullpen deteriorated, the Brewers had solid outings by Brock Kjeldgaard and Zach Braddock. Kjeldgaard started through five innings and gave up the two runs on five hits. Braddock has given up three hits while striking out two in his time on the mound. The bottom of the seventh inning will resume with Great Falls? Lee Cruz on first base with two outs. ***Link for Brock Kjeldgaard photo, text follows: www.greatfallstribune.com...30338/1006 Rain delays Sox verdict By GEORGE GEISE Great Falls Tribune Sports Editor If the Great Falls White Sox played in the major leagues, Saturday night's swift and violent rainstorm would have given the team a badly needed victory. But since the Sox play in the rookie-level Pioneer League, the storm merely provided a reprieve. The Helena Brewers led the Sox 5-2 when the downpour arrived about 9:15 p.m. at Centene Stadium. The Sox had two outs and one runner on base in the bottom of the seventh when the umpires finally called for a suspension of play. After a delay of about 30 minutes, it was ruled that play will resume this afternoon with the Brewers leading by three runs and Mike Grace at the plate. If the Pioneer League used major league rules, the score would have reverted to the end of the last full inning ? when the Sox led 2-1 ? and Great Falls would have earned its fifth victory against nine second-half defeats. As it is, the Sox will need a big rally to win the suspended game, then they'll meet the Brewers in a scheduled nine-inning contest to follow at about 5. Helena grabbed the lead in the seventh by scoring four runs against three Sox pitchers. The key blow was a three-run homer by Fredy De La Cruz, which followed two walks issued by Sox lefty Ryan Wing. Wing, a 24-year-old who was a top prospect before being injured in 2004, was making his second rehab appearance of the season. He retired Helena in order in the sixth, but lost his control in the seventh. He walked Andy Bouchie and Zach Clem, struck out Bill Rowe, then gave up the homer to DeLaCruz. After Brad Miller followed with a double, Sox manager Bobby Tolan pulled Wing in favor of Steve Spurgeon, who walked the only batter he faced before being replaced by Nick Walters. Walters struck out the two batters he faced, but not before tossing two wild pitches to bring in the fourth run of the inning. The seventh-inning collapse ruined a fine mound performance by Sox starter Tim Day, who hurled five innings and gave up just one run on four hits. The Brewers scored once in the fifth on Miller's RBI grounder. The Sox scored their runs in the third when Christian Marrero sliced a two-out double to left-center to score Scott Madsen and Lee Cruz. Those were the only runs given up by Helena starter Brock Kjeeldgaard, who can't figure in the decision. If the score doesn't change this afternoon, the winner will be 18-year-old lefty Zach Braddock. DeLaCruz was 3-for-3 with a double and homer. Cruz had two singles to lead Great Falls' eight-hit attack. The Stars dropped to 25-23 in the second half and to four and a half games behind front-running Tennessee in the North Division after the Smokies win over Chattanooga, while the Braves improved to 21-28 in the second half. The Stars five-game win streak was brought to a close and they fell to 6-3 on the road trip that ends Sunday afternoon. Josh Burrus opened the seventh inning against reliever Matt Yeatman by reaching on a throwing error by third baseman Ryan Braun, moved to second on a base hit by Luis Hernandez and to third base on a one-out walk to pinch-hitter Mike Rozema. Onil Joseph popped out for the second out before Escobar?s line drive landed just in front of right fielder Ron Acuna for a single that plated Burrus and Hernandez with the decisive runs. Yeatman suffered his first loss since May 12 after allowing two unearned runs on two hits and a walk in his one inning of work. Acuan?s two-out single in the top of the inning scored pinch-hitter Brad Nelson with the tying run. Zach Schreiber took over in the eighth inning and set down all six hitters he faced, striking out five, including the side in the ninth, to record his 18th save in 19 chances. Mississippi starter Matt Harrison allowed one unearned run over six innings on three hits and has held the Stars to that lone run over 13 innings in two starts. Chipper Jones led off the fourth inning with a single, moved to third base on a throwing error by Stars? starter Tim Dillard and scored on a Jarrod Saltamacchia sacrifice fly to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Jones was taken out after the half inning and wound up with one hit in six at-bats in his two day rehab stint. The Stars tied the game in the fifth inning on a run-scoring single by Callix Crabbe and fell behind again in the bottom half of the frame on a two-out, run-scoring single by Joseph. The series concludes Sunday afternoon with Stars? left-hander Manny Parra taking the hill, while the Braves will counter with left-hander Dan Smith. Second baseman Andrew Beattie went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, missing the cycle by a double, and starter Carlos Villanueva improved to 5-0 as the Nashville Sounds snapped a four-game losing streak with an 8-2 victory over Albuquerque on Saturday evening at Isotopes Park. With the win, Nashville (64-57) maintained its one-game lead over Iowa in the PCL American Conference Northern Division. Beattie?s four hits marked a season high and the four RBIs were his most since driving in a career-best six for Louisville on September 1, 2003. The infielder has six hits in eight at-bats in the first two games of the series against Albuquerque. Third baseman Vinny Rottino continued his red-hot hitting for the Sounds, finishing 2-for-3 with a double to increase his average to a season-best .301 on the year. He has hit safely in 26 of his last 31 games, batting .380 (41-for-108 ) over that stretch. Villanueva (5-0) allowed one run on three hits over 5 1/3 innings to continue his undefeated streak at the Triple-A level. The right-hander walked four batters and struck out six. His ERA stands at 2.77 through seven outings for Nashville. The Sounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on RBI singles by Beattie and Brent Abernathy off Albuquerque starter Jason Vargas. Nashville upped the lead to 3-0 in the second when Tony Gwynn ripped his first of two doubles on the night, stole third for his 25th theft of the year, and scored on Chris Barnwell?s two-out RBI single. Beattie?s fifth-inning triple off Vargas scored Barnwell to increase the Nashville lead to 4-0. The Isotopes finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out, two-run double by Chris Ashby that made the score 4-2. Chris Aguila reached on a forceout against Villanueva and Matt Cepicky drew a walk from Mitch Stetter before Steve Bray was summoned from the bullpen to face Ashby and surrendered the two-bagger. Beattie struck again in the top of the seventh when he clubbed his first home run as a Sound, a one-out solo shot to right off Isotopes reliever Jim Brower. The blast was his seventh of the year and extended the visitors? lead to 5-2. AUDIO: Andrew Beattie's 1st Sounds HR -- www.nashvillesounds.com/a...208-12.mp3 The Sounds wrapped up the evening?s scoring with a three-run eighth against the Albuquerque bullpen. Laynce Nix highlighted the action with a pinch-hit, two-run double off Joe Horgan that accounted for Nashville?s first pinch-hit RBIs in 37 games, dating back to July 3. Beattie, who came to the plate needing a double to complete his cycle, added an RBI single later in the frame off Bart Miadich to extend the Nashville lead to its final 8-2 but the Sounds failed to capitalize further as they had the bases loaded with only one out. Graham Koonce, who finished 0-for-5 with four strikeouts, struck out and Abernathy grounded out against Miadich to end the inning. Vargas (2-4) took the loss for Albuquerque after allowing four runs on seven hits over his six innings of work. After allowing the two-run double to the first batter he faced, Bray settled down to work 1 1/3 scoreless frames to lower his Nashville ERA to a miniscule 0.66 (1 ER / 13.2 IP) in 13 appearances. The teams continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. CT meeting on Sunday night. Left-hander Dana Eveland (3-3, 1.90) will toe the rubber for Nashville to face Isotopes southpaw Chris George (2-5, 5.80). 6. Final: Helena 10, Missoula (Diamondbacks) 5 Helena Team site Game Wrap: The Brewers Win Big The Helena Brewers ended the recent home stand with a win Friday night, as they handled the Missoula Osprey 10-5. The win was their second in a row going into this weekends road trip against the Great Falls White Sox. Zach Clem got things going for the Brewers, getting a solo homer in the bottom of the second. Missoula responded in the top half of the fifth with a run of their own, but the tie did not last long as Helena scored two more runs in the bottom half of the inning, led by Chuckie Caufield?s home run. The Osprey rallied back to get the lead, scoring three runs in the fourth and fifth, but thanks to Chris Errecart's grand slam in the bottom of the sixth, and the three other runs the Brewers scored, Helena regained a big lead 10-4. Missoula scored one run in the ninth, but that was all they would accomplish, as the Brewers would win the game 10-5. Roque Mercedes got the win for Helena, relieving Jose Beltre by going five innings, and giving up only two runs. Helena will be in Great Falls this weekend, and back on Monday to take on the Billings Mustangs. Helena Box Score and Game Log: Chris Errecart with an absolutely huge game. 7. Final: Delmarva (O's) 12, West Virginia 3, West Virginia Site Game Summary: SHOREBIRDS BEAT POWER UNDER PROTEST Friday night's game between the West Virginia Power and Delmarva Shorebirds was one sided for the most part with the Shorebirds dominating in every phase of the game as they beat the Power 12-3. However the game was played under protest because the home plate umpire Dan Oliver, who suffered a concussion a few days before, called the balls and strikes for the first six innings of the game, and had to leave due to illness just before the seventh inning. Power manager Mike Guerrero protested the game because he believed Oliver was not fit to start the contest. Mark Fleisher hit a two-run double in the top of the first inning to give the Shorebirds an early lead. Delmarva scored four times in the fourth inning to pull away. Ryan Finan knocked in the first run on an RBI single and Kyle Dahlberg drove in the second run with a sacrifice fly. With runners on second and third base, Lorenzo Scott hit a groundball up the middle of the infield, Power second baseman Mike Bell made a terrific diving stop on the ball, but his throw to first base went into the Power dugout, allowing two more runs to score. The Power scored their first run of the game on Lorenzo Cain's RBI single in the fifth inning. Delmarva answered that with Stu Musslewhite's run-scoring single in the home half of the inning. Delmarva scored three times in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Vito Chiaravalloti, Finan and Quincy Ascencion. Angel Salome ripped an RBI single in the seventh inning to make it a 10-2 contest. Chiaravalloti struck again for Delmarva in the seventh inning with a two run-double. The Power scored the final run of the game on Lorenzo Cain's RBI double in the top of the ninth. After the home plate umpire Dan Oliver left in the seventh inning, his partner Tim Bretzke took over behind home plate, Delmarva pitcher Josh Potter became the third base umpire and Delmarva outfielder Danny Figueroa became the first base umpire. Chorye Spoone (6-7) got the win, and Steve Garrison (5-5) got the loss. The Power are 62-54 on the year and 23-24 in the second half after the loss while the Shorebirds improved to 52-61 overall and 16-30 in the second half after the win. The Power will continue the four game series against the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Saturday night. Right hander David Hernandez (5-7, 4.18) will make the start for Delmarva and the Power will counter with right hander Will Inman (9-1, 1.48). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM (6:05 Central). 8. Final: Albuequerque (Marlins) 4, Nashville 2 Nashville Site Game Summary: Link for Chad Moeller photo, text follows -- www.nashvillesounds.com/news/news.asp?newsId=2104 Sounds Fall 4-2, Suffer Fourth Straight Loss ALBUQUERQUE ? The Nashville Sounds dropped their fourth straight game on Friday evening at Isotopes Park, falling 4-2 to Albuquerque in the opener of a four-game series. Nashville (63-57) had its lead in the PCL American Conference Northern Division reduced to just a half-game over Iowa, its smallest margin since taking over the division lead on April 20. The Sounds? four-game skid is one shy of the club?s longest this season. The visitors grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Tony Gwynn walked and later scored on Andrew Beattie?s RBI double off Albuquerque starter Yusmeiro Petit. Beattie finished 2-for-3 in the contest, Nashville?s lone multiple-hit effort of the night. Albuquerque responded with single runs in each of the first three innings to pull ahead 3-1 against Sounds starter Zach Jackson. The first two runs came home on groundouts and the third when Petit helped his own cause by scoring on a Mike Kinkade sacrifice fly. The Isotopes increased the lead to 4-1 in the sixth with three consecutive one-out singles, the last of which by Edgar Gonzalez plated Tom Wilson and chased Jackson from the contest. Chris Demaria came on in relief for Nashville with runners on the corners and fanned the next two batters to escape the jam. Dave Krynzel and Chad Moeller opened the seventh with back-to-back doubles off Petit to make it a 4-2 ballgame. Petit (4-4) picked up the victory after turning in a quality start for the Isotopes. He allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four over seven innings. Ex-Sound Brad Clontz struck out the side in the top of the ninth to notch his team-leading 17th save of the year for Albuquerque. Jackson (2-5) allowed four runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings and suffered his third loss in four starts since rejoining Nashville from Milwaukee. His ERA over that four-game stretch stands at 8.22 (21ER / 23.0 IP). Dennis Sarfate turned in his third consecutive solid relief outing for the Sounds. The right-hander retired all six batters he faced over two scoreless frames and has allowed only one hit over his last six frames of work. The teams continue the series with an 8:05 p.m. CT meeting on Saturday evening. Right-hander Carlos Villanueva (4-0, 2.97) will man the bump for the Sounds. Albuquerque will counter with southpaw Jason Vargas (2-3, 5.10). The Stars have won a season-high five straight games on the road and six of eight on the current road swing to improve to 25-22 in the second half and move into second place, three and a half games behind front-running Tennessee in the North Division, while the Braves fell to 20-28 in the second half. Jarrod Saltalamacchia led off the ninth inning against Joe Valentine with a double and scored on a one-out single by Josh Burrus that trimmed the lead to 4-3. Pinch-hitter Josh Arteaga walked before Mike Rozema lined out to first baseman Brad Nelson, who doubled off Arteaga to end the game. Valentine recorded his fifth save in eight chances and has gone two innings in seven of his 12 appearances since joining the Stars. Valentine took over for Gallardo with runners at first and second and nobody out in the home eighth and retired Yunel Escobar on a fly ball to right field that moved Rozema to third base. He scored on a wild pitch, to make it 4-2, that also moved Onil Joseph to second base. Chipper Jones grounded out to move Joseph to third and Valentine retired Brandon Jones on a fly ball to end the inning. Chipper Jones went hitless in four at-bats in the first of two scheduled rehab games with the Braves. The Stars took a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning and scored on a throwing error by shortstop Luis Hernandez and on a fielder?s choice grounder by Ron Acuna to push their lead to three. Acuna went hitless in five at-bats and lost a season-high 10-game hitting streak. Ryan Braun doubled in a first inning run for Huntsville and an Escobar error in the second inning allowed Ozzie Chavez to score to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. 17. Final: Missoula (Diamondbacks) 10, Helena 9 Not a great pitching performance by Parillo tonight, but plenty of offense... Link while active, text follows: www.helenair.com/articles...006_04.txt Osprey trip up Brewers By JEFF WINDMUELLER - Independent Record Sports Writer The Helena Brewers did everything they could to battle back against the Missoula Osprey Wednesday night, but in the end they just gave their visiting foe too much a cushion. The Osprey claimed sole leadership of the Pioneer League?s North Division standings as they outscored the Brewers 10-9 in a rollercoaster ride at Kindrick Legion Field. The Osprey held leads twice in the game, the first by three and the second by six. ?All the losses are hard. Once they scored the seven runs, we actually had a chance to bounce back and had a chance to win again,? said Brewers manager Ed Sedar. After giving up a three-run first inning, the Brewers fought back in the third to tie eventually lead the game. With two outs and bases loaded, Zach Clem cracked a hit into shallow center field allowing Chuckie Caufield and David Parker to score. Chris Errecart came home when Osprey?s starting pitcher, Daniel Fournier, balked, evening the score. Then, the Brewers took a one-run lead in the fourth, when Parker hit a chopper straight into the dirt in front of the plate. The ball had enough spin to roll about seven feet toward the left field line, and Fredy De La Cruz sped past the throw at home to score. The lead lasted until the sixth inning when the Brewers gave up three walks and two errors, allowing the Osprey to bat through the order. Parker errored at second when he missed a grounder, and after going five innings without a walk, Brandon Parillo gave up two in a row to load the bases. Jose Romero came in to relieve, but he gave up two hits to left field that would score three and send dominoes falling. The Osprey scored seven runs in the inning to take a 10-4 lead. ?Parillo did a good job, but when our infielders do make errors ? and they?ve played very well I think ? the pitchers make little body gestures,? Sedar said. ?Maybe the pitchers need to suck it up one time and go after and get the outs on their own instead of throwing balls after the error because he was frustrated.? Just when it looked like the Brewers had given up, they rebounded to nearly tie the game in the seventh. Fredy De La Cruz cracked a three-run homer over the left field wall to score Andy Bouchie and Parker. Bill Rowe had singled just before to score two. The hits combined for five runs, bringing the game to its final score. ?(De La Cruz) put a good swing on it. It sure wasn?t a home run swing, he was trying to hit a line drive and squared up the ball quite well,? Sedar said. The Brewers kept up moment, getting runners in scoring position in the eighth, but Giornale Sena struck out two in a row to finish the inning without giving up a run. Brad Miller gave the team a last breath of hope when he flied out to within two feet of the centerfield wall where Missoula?s Daniel Perales made the catch. It was the last play of the game The loss drops the Brewers to 5-6 in the second half, third in the North Division. The Osprey have climbed their way to the top with a 7-4 record. Helena Box Score and Game Log: Chris Errecart and Andy Bouchie reach four times apiece; Fredy de la Cruz 3-for-5 with his home run; RHP Stuart Sutherland with a pretty relief line -- he did allow two inherited runners to score, but they scored on an error, showing how that stat can be skewed by defense... www.minorleaguebaseball.c..._helrok_1 Jon Ebelt Independent Record Staff Photographer - After converting the force out at second base, Helena?s David Parker, left, is true on the throw to first base for the fourth inning double play against Missoula Wednesday. 22. Final: Huntsville 5, Mobile (Padres) 2 Huntsville Site Game Summary: Link, text follows -- www.huntsvillestars.com/n...newsId=955 Four-Run First Fuels Stars' Victory Manny Parra worked five solid innings on the hill and belted a home run to help his own cause, as Huntsville hung on to down Mobile 5-2 Tuesday night in the final game of a five-game set at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Stars won their second straight, improved to 22-22 in the second half but remain in third place in the North Division, three and a half games behind first-place Tennessee, which beat Birmingham. Mobile dropped to 22-23 in the second half and stays four games behind South Division-leading Jacksonville, which fell 3-1 at Chattanooga. Callix Crabbe singled with one out in the first inning, moved to third on a Ryan Braun double and scored on a Brad Nelson ground ball out that also pushed Braun to third base. Jeff Eure hit a slow ground ball to shortstop that was charged by Juan Ciriaco, who made a throw to first base that pulled Vincent Sinisi off the bag, allowing Braun to score and Eure to reach safely. Drew Anderson and Lou Palmisano drew walks from starter Dirk Hayhurst to load the bases before Ozzie Chavez singled to right field to score Eure and Anderson to make it 4-0 Stars. Parra retired the first seven hitters he faced and allowed only a Julius Matos single through the first four innings. The southpaw walked Colt Morton and Jeremy Cleveland and gave up a base hit to Drew Macias to load the bases with one out in the fifth. Pinch-hitter Brett Bonvechio then grounded into an inning-ending double play, the second straight frame that Parra ended with a twin-killing. Hayhurst lasted five innings, giving up four runs, one earned, on six hits, while walking three, striking out three and suffering the loss to fall to 3-4 . Ryan Klatt took over for Hayhurst in the sixth and struck out Chavez to start the frame. Parra then crushed a 2-1 pitch for a home run that cleared the clubhouse building behind the wall in right field for his second home run at the double-A level to give the visitors a 5-0 lead. Ciriaco opened the home sixth with a single, Julius Matos walked and Sinisi singled to load the bases with nobody out and chase Parra from the game. Travis Phelps took over and struck out Stephen Smitherman, who had hit a grand slam on Saturday, for the first out before Luis Cruz singled into center field to score Ciriaco and Matos to trim the lead to 5-2. Travis Ezi threw Sinisi out trying to advance to third base for the second out and Phelps fanned Colt Morton to end the frame. Phelps retired the side in order in the seventh and Joe Valentine set down all six hitters he faced to earn his fourth save in seven chances. Parra was charged with two runs on four hits and four walks and picked up his first win with Huntsville and his second of the season. The Stars travel to Jackson, Mississippi Wednesday to open a series with the Braves. Right-hander Corey Thurman gets the starting nod for Huntsville against Mississippi left-hander Francisely Bueno. Coverage of the game begins at 6:50 p.m. central time and can be heard locally on ESPN Radio 1450 AM and through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com. Huntsville Box Score and Game Log Link: Ryan Braun's Slg. % is still well over .550. One has to wonder what he's gonna be like in the majors. I've seen scouts and writers mention that Braun should only hit about 20 hr's a year in the majors, but he's shown much more power than that in the minors---in 357 ab's this year, he's got 14 hr's...and that's in two extreme pitchers parks and leagues. not to mention he had 10 bombs in 189 ab's last year. I think Ryan could be a 30 plus guy in the majors...I don't know if he will be Chipper Jones, but his run in AA has been very similar to Chip's run in 1992. Actually, Braun's minor league career has been very similar to Chipper's, a player who also had huge defensive questions...By the way, Braun is a year and a half or so older than Chipper was at this level, but the similarities are remarkable www.minorleaguebaseball.c..._mobaax_1
