Final Round Rock 14 (Astros), Nashville 3 Nashville Site Game Review link, including picture of Brent Abernathy, then text www.nashvillesounds.com/news/news.asp?newsId=2140 Sounds Fail To Clinch, Lose 14-3 To Express NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? The Round Rock Express put together back-to-back seven-run innings en route to a 14-3 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium. With the loss, Nashville (75-67) failed to clinch a playoff spot for the third consecutive day. The second-place Iowa Cubs defeated Omaha, 8-2, leaving the Sounds? magic number at one and reducing the lead in the American Conference Northern Division to one game with two to play. Because the Sounds won the season series against Iowa by a 9-7 margin, Nashville would advance to the postseason if they teams finished the year with identical records. The 14-3 margin of defeat was the largest suffered by a Nashville club in over a year, dating back to a 12-1 loss to Oklahoma on August 22, 2005. After allowing seven runs in an inning only twice previously during the 2006 season, the Sounds gave up that number in consecutive innings as the visiting Express built a 14-0 lead by the end of the third inning. Nashville did not record its first hit in the game until the fourth inning. Round Rock took a 7-0 lead in the top of the second inning by sending 12 batters to the plate. Sounds starter Dana Eveland loaded the bases with a pair of walks sandwiched around a hit batter then hit Royce Huffman in the side to force home Eric Munson with the game?s first run. Round Rock pitcher Jared Gothreaux helped his own cause when he followed with a two-run single through the right side of the Nashville infield to increase the visitors? lead to three. After Mike Rodriguez drew the Express? third walk of the inning to re-load the bases, Eveland struck out Joe McEwing for the second out before hitting his third batter of the frame, Brooks Conrad, to force home another run. Former Sound J.R. House continued his solid series against his old club by following with a two-run single to chase Eveland from the ballgame. Knuckleballer Jared Fernandez took over on the hill and was greeted by a Munson RBI single that increased the Express lead to 7-0. House, who played in Music City in 2004, went 3-for-5 with three RBIs on the evening and has five hits in nine at-bats in two games this series. The Express continued to pour it on the third as they batted around for the second consecutive frame and added seven more runs against Fernandez, all of which scored unearned with two outs in the inning. After the first two batters were retired in order, the knuckleballer struck out Gothreaux swinging but the ball eluded catcher J.C. Boscan and the Round Rock hurler reached on a passed ball. Rodriguez and McEwing followed with consecutive two-out singles, the second of which plated Gothreaux for the eight-run lead. Conrad, House, and Munson added back-to-back-to-back doubles to bring home four more Express runs before Hector Gimenez capped off the inning with a two-run homer to right off Fernandez, his eighth roundtripper of the campaign. The Sounds put a run on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning against Gothreaux when Drew Anderson scored on a Zach Sorensen sacrifice fly. Nashville added a second run in the fifth on Anderson?s two-out RBI double to right-center that plated Chris Barnwell. Anderson (3-for-5) has hit safely in 11 of his initial 14 games with the Sounds, including seven multiple-hit efforts. The Sounds wrapped up the evening?s scoring in the eighth when Boscan, who finished 2-for-4 to record his first hits of the season for Nashville, singled home Brent Abernathy with two outs against Round Rock reliever Aaron Williams. Nashville left the bases loaded in the frame, however, as Express closer Roberto Giron struck out Tony Gwynn to end the frame. Gwynn finished 0-for-4 to snap his season-best hitting streak at 12 games. Sounds first baseman Graham Koonce went 1-for-5 on the evening to extend his season-best hitting streak to six games. Abernathy went 3-for-4 for the second consecutive evening to extend his hit streak to six games, matching his best this season. Gothreaux (9-9) evened his record on the year with his fourth consecutive winning start for the Express. He allowed two runs on five hits over five innings of work. Eveland (6-5) suffered through his shortest start of the season, working only 1 2/3 innings and allowing seven runs. The left-hander allowed only two hits but hurt himself by issuing three walks and hitting three batters. He had hit only six total batters through his first 18 starts. The Sounds will take another shot at locking up the division title on Sunday evening when the teams continue the series with a 6 p.m. meeting at Greer. Right-hander Justin Lehr (4-7, 3.94) will man the bump for Nashville to face Round Rock southpaw Philip Barzilla (8-4, 3.81). Iowa plays its Sunday game at 1:35 p.m. CT in Omaha so the Sounds could be playoff-bound before taking the field tomorrow evening if the Cubs lose that contest. i think somone with the brewers pissed off god...or somethin is going on...maybe Ned wants to get fired... unbelievable... I think maybe dan kolb should be released after this game just because...no other reason.. -
-people who wait until they have the total to write a check -people who write checks instead of using a debit card -people who dont realize that when you write a check at the grocery store and they scan it and hand it back to you that it is exactly the same as debit card transaction, minus the convenience for everyone in line behind you

last thing i bought was: The common rider half of the common rider/against all authority split from 2005.. i would sayits great, but common rider is definitely an acquired taste...still if you love operation ivy, but aren't quite what to do with rancid/lars frederickson/transplants...check out common rider...because that's where the rest of the sound went... i bought like 20 cds while i was in cali a month ago...too much to list...but a bunch of 80's punkt hat i needed to fill out my completist mind set...as well as the rakes and kooks

Nasvhille Site Game Review Sounds End Road Trip With 9-8 Loss ALBUQUERQUE ? The Nashville Sounds had an opportunity to wrap up the division title but fell just short on Thursday evening at Isotopes Park, suffering a 9-8 loss to Albuquerque in the finale of a four-game series. Nashville (75-65) maintained its three-game lead over Iowa in the American Conference Northern Division; the Cubs lost in Oklahoma, 7-4, earlier in the evening. The Sounds? magic number to clinch a playoff berth was reduced to just one with four games remaining in the season. Any Nashville win or Iowa loss over the next four days will send the defending PCL champion Sounds to the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons. With the loss, Nashville split its four-game series with the Isotopes and finished its road trip with a 4-5 record. It was a back-and-forth battle all evening and the longball was a prominent part of the evening?s festivities. The Isotopes touched Sounds pitchers for three homers, matching the most allowed by Nashville in a game all season. Sounds first baseman Graham Koonce missed the cycle by a triple, matching his season high with three hits on the evening. He also drove in two runs and scored three during his 3-for-3 evening, adding two walks in reaching base in all five of his plate appearances. Nashville skipper Frank Kremblas had his team on the move on the basepaths as the Sounds recorded a season-high-tying six swipes, including three by team leader Jermaine Clark and two by Tony Gwynn. Albuquerque took a 3-0 lead against Sounds starter Zach Jackson in the bottom of the first inning on Chris Aguila?s RBI double coupled with a two-out, two-run single off the bat of Jason Stokes. Nashville third baseman Andrew Beattie who hit Isotopes pitching well all season, pulled the visitors back within a run in the second when he belted an opposite-field two-run homer to left off Albuquerque starter Jeff Fulchino. The blast was the infielder?s ninth of the year. The Isotopes tacked on a run for a 4-2 lead in the fourth when Matt Cepicky scored from third on a passed ball charged to Sounds catcher Chad Moeller. Koonce tied the game in the top of the fifth when he slugged his 19th home run of the year, a two-out, two-run shot to left that plated Drew and knotted things at 4-4. The homer was Koonce?s third of the series and increased the slugger?s team-leading RBI total to 24 in the month of August. Albuquerque responded immediately, reclaiming a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the frame when Cepicky blasted a three-run homer off Jackson. It was his sixth roundtripper. Nashville clawed right back to within a run in the following frame, plating two in the sixth to make it a 7-6 contest. Clark led off with a single then stole second and third to up his team-leading theft total to 32 on the year. Kennard Bibbs plated Clark with an RBI single to right and advanced to third on the play when Cepicky was unable to hand the ball cleanly. After a pair of strikeouts, Gwynn drove in Bibbs with a run-scoring single to right that chased Fulchino from the ballgame. Gwynn went 2-for-5 on the evening to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, one shy of his longest this season. The two-hit effort was his team-leading 42nd multiple-hit contest of the year. Once again, the Isotopes had an immediate response as Albuquerque greeted Sounds reliever Steve Bray with back-to-back home runs to lead off the bottom of the frame and re-establish the home team?s three-run lead at 9-6. Eric Reed led off with an inside-the-park home run to right and Tony Schrager slugged a solo shot to left two pitches later. Reed?s blast was his fifth while Schrager touched ?em all for the first time in 2006. Bray, who saw his ERA increase from 0.44 to 1.27 following the outing, has allowed only three runs in his 21 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season; all three runs have come via the longball. The offensive showdown continued in the seventh as the Sounds pulled back within a run once again as Bibbs laced a two-out, two-run double down the right field line on an 0-2 pitch from Nashville native Wes Wilkerson to plate Koonce and Clark and make it a 9-8 game. The Sounds left the potential tying and go-ahead runs on base in the frame when Isotopes reliever J.B. Miadich caught pinch-hitter Zach Sorensen looking for the final out of the inning. Nashville once again left the potential tying run in scoring position in the top of the eighth as Beattie was fanned by Miadich to end the frame with Anderson standing on second and Koonce at first, both following walks. Fulchino (6-10) registered the win for Albuquerque despite allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and striking out seven batters over 5 2/3 innings. Former Sound Brad Clontz came on to work a perfect ninth for Albuquerque to notch his 21st save, tying Blaine Neal?s single-season franchise record established in 2003. Jackson (4-6) took the loss after surrendering a season-high seven runs on seven hits over five innings of work for the Sounds. The left-hander walked a season-high six batters in his outing, matching the highest single-game total allowed by a Nashville hurler all season. Nashville hurlers combined to allow nine walks on the evening, the most issued by the team in a game this season. The Sounds return to Greer Stadium on Friday to take on the Round Rock Express (AAA-Astros) in the 7 p.m. opener of a regular season-ending four-game series, which could serve as a potential playoff preview. Right-hander Carlos Villanueva (7-1, 2.78) will man the bump for Nashville in Friday?s series opener. Round Rock will counter with right-hander Taylor Buchholz (1-3, 4.97). mass-- I think my response last night was more of an emotional one regarding the specific game...nonetheless, this team has the talent to win even more ball games than they have.. the brewers comment wasn't a fair comparison...i guess i just feel like huntsville fan at the moment, because it seems like more could be done to help the teams succeed at their level.. of course you are right about them playing well...i guess i just want more! it's been a very good season..

Final: Greensboro 8, West Virginia 1 West Virginia Box Score and Game Log There is something about this Power ballclub that is very similar to the brewers...they have plenty of talent...but something stands between that talent and actually winning a lot of ball games...i'm very excited about a few of the players on this team, but some of the player surrounding them are not helping the cause...best of luck to these guys next year...i know they are all doing their best... www.minorleaguebaseball.c..._wvaafx_1

What's bugging you? hawing. but seriously... and big fingers that cause typoes...and people who don't ever proofread anything even though they are currently reading books with titles like: A Guide to Composition pedagogies...you'd think "these" people would occasionally use spellcheck or have some pride

Edit: And "water fountain?" That's the thing the homeless guy sits by on Library Mall, or the thing you throw spare change in. no, that's just a fountain...a water fountain is for drinking... you midwesterners are cray

the most amazing thing about this season is that we've got a guy who might be the minor league pitcher of the year in Yovani. and we've got another guy that we can speak about in the same breath...who's is actually having a better year in WV than Yo did... and neither of these guys were first round picks...so we've still got the top picks lingering around some where (some dude named ryan braun?) the more i think about it, the more i think that Will will start next year in AA, especially if Brevard is still the high A team.. -

Final: West Virginia 3, Greensboro (Marlins) 2 West Virginia Site Game Review POWER RING BELL IN THE NINTH Tied at 2-2 with two on and two out in the bottom of the ninth inning of Tuesday nightâ??s game at Appalachian Power Park, Mike Bell ripped the game winning RBI single into right center field to score Lorenzo Cain as the West Virginia Power defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 3-2. Greensboro scored the first run of the game in the top of the third inning when Gary Roche hit a ground ball to second base with Greg Burns on third. Power second baseman Mike Bellâ??s throw to the plate did not arrive in time, allowing Burns to score the go ahead run. West Virginia tied the game in the home half of the third after Nestor Corredor scored on Brett Hayesâ??s throwing error. In the fourth inning the Power took the lead on Tony Festaâ??s solo homerun, his sixth of the season. Two innings later Agustin Septimo tied the game at 2-2 with a solo homerun, his seventh. Greensboro pitcher Mauro Zarate retired the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth inning before issuing two out walks to Lorenzo Cain and Mat Gamel. Mike Bell then ripped the second pitch of the at bat into center field to score Cain, marking the tenth time this season that West Virginia has won in their final at bat. Will Inman, Patrick Ryan and Kevin Roberts combined to strike out 16 batters in the game, second most in a single game for the Power this season. West Virginia struck out 17 against Kannapolis back on June 22nd. Will Inman accounted for 11 of the 16 strikeouts, matching his single game season high.
