  1. He's who I'd target of the recently dumped 1b/3b type guys. Of course, I have no idea if he can actually play 3b defensively...
  2. i think given his full body of play this season and last, there's probably still some hope for somebody to think he might improve back to a .700 ops player. It won't be cheaply, or as a Brewer if it happens though...so the best course might be to trade him this offseason on that premise rather than paying him 3 million next year. I think Sardinas would probably match his stats in the bigs...Sardinas has improved in a lot of ways in AAA this year, and could still be a useful MLB player. And, unlike Segura, will cost the minimum for the next 3 years.
  3. I don't see the purpose...Span is a good player who will likely command a multi year contract. I think the Brewers are much more likely to either shoehorn Santana in CF, or go with Peterson until Reed or Phillips come up. I doubt seriously that they will sign a CFer, or any outfielder at all, for several years.
  4. It is certainly interesting to have his name on the market at the same time the Brewers are looking for a new guy. It's hard to want to replace Montgomery at this point though---even so he can move up---what little we've seen of him has been really good. I'd really like to se him remain in his current role for a few years. I think if Jack Z was brought on, I'd hope it was in a Gord Ash type role...but I'd also hate for Mark A. to be hiring side players before he hired a GM. I don't think Jack Z didn't an even half decent job as GM in Seattle, so I don't want him for that position in MKE.
  5. I think people are assuming we are going to have a logjam of prospects at AAA, and claiming we have one, but it sure hasn't materialized yet. We actually have almost no prospects at AAA that project to be above average regulars. We don't need to go and trade away prospects until we are seeing the benefits of this at the major league level. Right now we have what appears to be 2 position players that most would agree will be above average in the majors, and another 2-3 that look like they might be. Exactly how does that make us flush enough to start dealing these guys? The teams that can make prospect for prospect trades have 4-5 ss prospects that are ready to produce, not 1. If we traded Arcia, we have Sardinas, Segura, and Escobar. So, our position of strength is three guys that won't have OPS over .650 in the majors. The outfield is pretty similar---Phillips has a direct path to playing time---he has Reed, and Shane Peterson in front of him, two players who have profiled as 4th outfielders for a long time. But Davis, Santana, and Roache and all pretty similar. Well run organizations don't trade players like this until they are sure the hole is filled.
  6. I don't think we should be trading prospects until we have a good mlb team. Trading prospects with garbage in mke seems like a terrible call.
  7. taking 2-0 is lousy strategy, that's how you move from getting a decent pitch pitch back into a pitchers count. You should be selective 2-0. The problem the brewers have is that 4 out of their 9 hitters on any night right now are awful.
  8. Victor Roache has stopped striking out, started hitting for average, and kept his power. Awesome.
  9. I blame Ruben Quevedo's wife... Of course, now after five minutes of searching, I can't actually find any proof that she was the one that beat up a good player in the parking lot... Someone help me out here... Who was that? Whatever... I blame Ray King's George Forman grill
  10. I know this isn't about his steroid stuff, but Rotoworld just posted an update that mentioned that Alex Gordon is lookin for a 7 year 130 million contract like the one that Shin Soo Choo got two years ago. statistically and age wise, Gordon is Braun's equal---really, Braun is better, but for the benefit of this argument, i'll make them equal. I'm just pointing this out because when Gordon gets dumb money this winter, it will validate that braun's contract, while not a great deal, is about market correct. He's not going to be overpaid until the last year or so of the extension, and maybe he can pull over good value then too---we don't know what above average outfield production will be worth in the 2020's...
  11. Chris carter. He reminds me of Chris Carter, but maybe with a little bit better hit skill. I think he's going to be a .250/.330/.450 guy in the majors with 25 bombs and 180 k's. He could be better, he could be a lot worse. Just like Chris Carter.
  12. maybe just pin it to the top of each board depending on who it was linked to?
  13. What would be the point? The Brewers cut salary for next season as it is. If/when Lind gets moved, they have only Garza, Braun and KRod making over $5 m and KRod may get moved. I'd rather have Garza try to return to form to be able to trade for something of value instead of passing more money to the Brewer owners. I think Garza is done. So I'm all in favor of moving him if possible. I'm struggling to understand why anyone would want to keep him. I guess if you think he could be resurrected that makes some sense, but I don't see that at all. I'd be thrilled if they could dump his contract. bc there is literally no harm in keeping him. if he gets better, then he can be traded---also, some of you guys think this team will be competitive in 2017, well Garza might still be on it then, so fingers crossed I guess. If he doesn't get better, then he's helping the team get a better draft pick while keeping innings and "loser-itis" (i'm only a little bit serious) off of our prospects. In a season like this one, you keep running guys like Garza out there. Lohse has probably lost his job---but Garza? patience is a virtue
  14. ^^^This Davis is kind of like the Mike Fiers of left field. He's unconventional and was old for a prospect. He's got some good tools, but even when he has put it all together for a month or two at a time, it really just brings the larger sample up to a tiny bit above average. He's what, 27? So, like Gerardo Parra, we are looking at peak Davis most likely. Although i will allow that it seems like Davis profile at the plate could give him a shot at developing a little more---he's terrible in left, so it almost kills it. I don't know if Domingo Santana is the long term answer there, but I'm willing to bet one/two of he, Reed, Phillips, Roache, Coulter, etc, will be ready to play as well or better than Khris by the time this team is winning games again in 17/18.
  15. Yeah, for some reason knowing the Enrique Cruz is 33 makes me feel old. Even though we've always been the same age. I wonder where he is?
  16. Well, I posted that earlier based on a tweet from Joe Block where he stated that Santana would play in one corner and Reed the other for the SkySox, but Michael is clearly playing for the Shuckers tonight, so who knows... I hope he's not weeping in the outfield.
  17. So, the Brewers should HAVE kept Haniger and signed Everett and not had a first round pick next year because you personally hated the Lohse signing?
  18. Arcia is MUCH better than segura...
  19. Maybe Doug Melvin has always hated Sandy Alderson, and he viewed this as his last chance to really get him...
  20. Nightengale says Brewers rejected over Wheeler's physical and still plan to trade Gomez by Friday.
  21. Unlocking, as I heard Gomez just made this one up to see the look on Wilmer Flores face. Carlos can be kind of insensitive at times...
