  1. I think the guys we've picked up are basically the same as Hafner and Berkman would've been anyway
  2. I don't want Davis anymore...we've got the same level of production in the Frankenstein's monster of crap we've got if they are going to trade players---especially some of the decent young pitchers, they should aim higher than Ike Davis I think Thornburg and Nelson are headed for the pen long term I also think Gallardo won't be retained now, so we can't trade too much
  3. between having average production at first base, having Braun all year, and adding Garza, i think the Brewers are cleanly in the hunt... well done.
  4. unreal.... can't believe this isnt a joke well, i'll take it
  5. as a rumor or a done thing?
  6. looking back a week or so ago at posts on garza and a lot of teams were backing off over long term concerns about his eblbow which might mean that his demands have come down... if that's the case, and the brewers are getting him in the 3/45 range, then i'm on board
  7. I forgot about Santana---his name was mentioned in connection with the Brewers earlier this off season---he would make more sense than an unexpected huge free agent signing like Garza...
  8. the Brewers usual track record would imply that it's more likely to be Todd Coffey than Matt Garza...
  9. WE are going to see some of those guys in the pen either way, I was trying to figure out what to do with the surplus pitching... if Garza was signed: Gallardo Garza Lohse Peralta Estrada/Smith/Nelson/Thornburg/Fiers/Hellweg..... Nelson and Hellweg to AAA, Fiers and Smith to the pen, Estrada or Thornburg---one 5th starter and one long man... this would make the team better, no doubt, I just don't think it's realistic Don't forget that Garza has no draft pick attached---i think now that Tanaka has signed, all the other Free Agent pitchers will start signing quickly---I also think Garza may be the most valuable in the group bc he doesn't have a pick attached and has a nice long, consistent track record
  10. I agree with Igor---signing Garza would make more sense if they had traded some of the young pitchers---now, it would be kind of a weird move... It would improve the team, and it would allow them to move Marco back to the pen, but it doesn't seem likely in my opinion
  11. I just dont see how all three of reynolds/francisco/overbay can make the team one has got to go i think we may see week/francisco flipped for an over priced closer coming off an injury plagued or lousy season---our pen needs depth more than our bench right now, so that would make sense considering the cash is sunk... too many bench bats eating money
  12. and his obp was terrible in all but that season in his hometown...
  13. Hunter Morris had an OBP .004 points higher than Reynolds did last year...and he was in AAA the whole season. I would have been much more disappointed in the offseason if he had been handed the starting job. He did NOT prove he was ready to play in the majors by any stretch in 2013. Hopefully he has a monster season this year and proves me wrong, but the outlier in his career was 2012, when he played the whole year in his backyard in Huntsville.
  14. Turbo--- it being a minor league deal, I'm going to assume that the money lower...well at least lower than the 3 million that the mets are paying Davis this season
  15. I LOVE this signing. It's Ike Davis! but....for free. Perfect...now if he fails, release him...and he doesn't waste a roster space until spring training...
  16. if it's less than 3 million, we get "Ike Davis" talent without trading anything and for less cash than the real Ike davis got today
  17. i remember someone on here clamoring to trade prince fielder for him their rookie years.. well now prince is long gone and we have duke...so kudos to whoever you were
  18. Hegan's wife was a real estate agent---and sold my family a house when I was 8---I met him a couple time's. He was a super nice guy. He was the first former Brewer I had any connection to at all. Sad Stuff.
  19. This is stupid money for James loney--- I know that it's not that much in modern baseball terms--- but he's not much above replacement. I would have been happy with him for one year at five million, but committing to mediocrity at 1b for three years would have been too depressing. I would much rather give the job to Morris or Halton and just hope for the best. Anyway, I think this probably means were getting Ike... But Doug is never that predictable, so who knows
  20. I would guess it would be Fiers and some of our middling prospects or a bullpen arm... i'd be completely fine with Fiers as i don't think he even makes the team...
  21. I think we are going to see a loney signing in the two year 15 million dollar range by the brewers or the rays really soon... And I would sort of prefer him over Davis because I don't want to trade whatever it takes to get him, and I think loney's defensive value will help the team.
  22. watch the mariners pick up ike davis--- this must be jack z's revenge for something...
  23. Get ready for Rickie Weeks at first base...
