  1. we had a thread about this last week... Should Gamel stay at 3b?
  2. Darren Ford clobbers the ball...he's not an infield hit kind of guy...he's a line drive hitter with tons of gap power...think a beefy kenny lofton
  3. you can go back further than heavy metal...but i'm talking about non-cult type movies that get dumped on us all the time... brad bird is more like spielberg than whoever the hell wrote open season
  4. Prince is a lot more like some of the mammoth sluggers of the 90's than Bonds...i think he'll hit between 400 and 500...sorta like Frank Thomas...theres just no way he can do this until he's 40..
  5. Ratatouille was brilliant...i saw it today, and it was justa delightful film. I guess I'm not sure why people treat pixar films as childrens movies. There wasnt a single character in the movie under 21 years of age. one of the main characters was massively drunk at one point during the film and the other was a rat. I'm just pointing this out because Children's art---literature, films, music, etc...usually has a younger slant...the only thinkg about ratatouille that made it a childrens film was that it wa animated. I can assure you it dealt with more mature content than any of the other big comedys that came out this summer, and it felt a heckuva lot more developed than any of the sequels...it also has almost nothing in common with the other animated schlock that's coming out right now...i can't see how this movie is the same genre as something like surf's up or Shrek 3. I think it's time that we admit that some cartoons arent really kid movies...and that they aren't good in spite of being animated, but that they are just good...ratatouille was an excellent film and it holds its own against anything released in 2007...
  6. hey, you can't hold the Lefave thing against me...
  7. Final: Nashville 11, Oklahoma (Rangers) 3 Hey, a blowout on a rough night always brightens the spirits.. Nashville Box Score: Joe Dillon is on the 40 Man...he deserves a shot at some point... www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._nasaaa_orhaaa_1 Nashville Game Log www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._nasaaa_orhaaa_1
  8. Final: Palm Beach (Cards) 2, BC 0 i kinda hate these 7 inning games just because you feel robbed when your team loses in a game this close... Brevard Box Score: Even though the hitting streak is over, give Mat credit for batting over 400 for more than a month now... www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._pbcafa_breafa_1 Brevard Game Log: www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb...pbcafa_breafa_1
  9. i've been to anaheim and dodgerland... we sat immediately behind the fIair pole in anaheim, so we couldnt really see anything... in LA, we sat in the bleachers in the outfield, which you are trapped in btw, you can't access any other part of the stadium, and melted. we were a couple innings late because my idiot friend told me he knew wher the park was, but actually having no idea...so, after being lost for an hour, we got to the park...we left after the 6th inning because it was literally 114 degrees... i've been to a dodgers game! and i'm never going back..

  11. yeah, offense would help quite a bit...how's he doing with the mono? I know firsthand that mono can slow you down for months..
  12. this is sorta off topic, but does anyone else cringe when the of montreal outback steakhouse comercials are on?
  13. Hey! It's good to be back... In the last month, the wife and I have discovered the wonder of parenthood and moved back to Georgia...so, i havent had the internet, or really any time...but hopefully i'll be here for good now... we even took our daughter to her first minor league game tonight and saw the columbus catfish narrowly beat the charleston riverdogs... hopefully, i'll be out full force to see jeremy jeffress and matt laporta in a few weeks..
  14. Final: Nashville 3, Oklahoma (Rangers) 1 R.A. Dickey survives the walks in the unexpected abscence of Manny Parra to lead the Sounds to victory... Nashville Box Score: www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._nasaaa_orhaaa_1 Nashville Game Log: www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._nasaaa_orhaaa_1
  15. Final: Tennessee (Cubs) 8, Huntsville 0 Huntsville Box Score: Inman with a pretty good start...focus on the 7 k's with no walks...things are slowly turning around for Will...Perhaps the best pitching of the night was done by Ryan Crew, who through a hitless inning...This team could have probably used Robert Hinton tonight... www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._tenaax_hunaax_1 Huntsville Game Log: www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._tenaax_hunaax_1
  16. In Progress: Helena 10, Billings (Reds) 7 Caleb Gindl and Lee Haydel lead the offensive explosion...which does, in fact, overshadow an unfortunate start by RJ Seidel
  17. Final: WV 6, Asheville (Rockies) 5 A Nail Biter, but the Power squeek it out in the 9th... West Virginia Box Score: Andy Lefave is the greatest hitter to ever play the game...A good outing by Chris Toneguzzi www.minorleaguebaseball.c...x_wvaafx_1 West Virginia Game Log: www.minorleaguebaseball.c...x_wvaafx_1
  18. Final: Jupiter (Marlins) 12, Brevard 3 The Manatees lose in a night where Mat Gamel was the focus... Brevard Box Score: Mat's lone hit keeps the streak alive, but semi-erstwhile prospects Cole Gillespie and Mike Bell with good night...Mike Bell still has good power for a middle infielder.. www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._breafa_jupafa_1 Brevard Game Log: Ugly, uglybottom of the 6th... www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb..._breafa_jupafa_1
  19. yowza... however, i appreciate that the brewers have not been afraid to demote prospects this year..i'm curious to see how this plays out in the long run for hinton, perez, and fermaint
  20. i say bring up joe dillon and let hart and gross split center... im only half serious... i really hope no one is excited about hall being injured so that gwynn makes it back up...
  21. Hammond is a decent prospect having a rough spot...his future is as a 4/5 starter, so even if it's not with the crew, he should play in the majors.. Hinton is one of the best relief prospects in the brewers farm system...a rough 10 innings doesnt change that... housman has been in AA/AAA since 2003...he's just depth these days..
  22. I agree completely...Gamel's streak has been nothing short of phenomenal...actually, his whole season has been...he's a heckuva hitter
  23. i've been thinking about bay a lot over the past few weeks as i had him as a keeper in my fantasy league...the conclusion i finally came to was to trade him...here's why: Jason's had a terrific peak, and he's been very good for the last three years, but he was only genuinely elite in one of those years (2005)---his age 27 year...his average and extra base hit totals declined quite a bit in 2006...and they have gone even further this year...Jason has also lost all of his stolen base ability...so, he's gone from looking like a genuine superstar, to someone like jeromy burnitz...which is about wher ei think he'll stay for the next 3-5 seasons...he's good, he's just not elite... i think he'll finish the year around .870 on the OPS scale with 30 bombs, but a .270 average and 30 doubles...that's just who he is...
  24. according to his sister, he's been dealing with exhaustion related to having mono
  25. Mat Gamel just plain rules...i think what he's demonstrated more than anything this season is that his bat will play anywhere...he's jumped over cole gillespie in my book...
