  1. Can someone explain to me why Schroeder was saying that Jenkins point of contact was perfect because it was back by his body? He then said this was something Helms needed to work on. I'm confused though. I thought you want to make contact out in front slightly and not let the pitch get back over the plate. I understand being patient, but how could you ever have any power if you let the ball go that far back?
  2. Our bullpen is going to be gassed by July at this rate. Maybe we should have signed a knuckleballer this offseason.
  3. Well, I'm going to try to take a positive from this game, I am simply amazed at the maturity and composure of Bill Hall this year. It certainly seems like Ned is going out of his way to negatively effect his development, but Billy just keeps remaining patient in his very limited and sporadic PT. We have seen too many young hitters who get over aggressive because they are trying to prove themselves with limited ABs. Billy just keeps making contact, hitting line drives and going the other way. To me, seeing him go the other way is the ultimate sign of patience. Ned simply needs to get him in the game more, as I would really like to see what he is capable of. I know you all agree with this, as its been expressed many times. I guess I just wanted to say it one more time and talk about how much he has matured.
  4. Once again, while I like what we got in the Sexson trade, it sure would have been nice if the Dbacks had accepted our offer last May that included Webb. With the extra pitching from that deal, we could have then made that Franklin for Pujols plus PTBNL trade.
  5. I am no pitching coach, but it seemed that Capuano did not have good velocity in the early part of the game during his last start. But after a few innings, his fastball showed more life and he was very effective. Thats also a sign of injury. I don't want to speculate though. Obviously this team could use a victory against Clemons today. It would be good for moral after the Kinney incident.
  6. The back has always been and will always be an issue with Ben. Its scarry to see someone his age with these problems already...even in his rookie season as other posters illuded to.
  7. I am really looking forward to see if Sheets can follow up his last game with another great start. He has shown flashes of being a number 1 before, but has always been inconsistent. Putting in a quality start today would be a big step.
  8. I have not been following minor league baseball long enough to know what happens when you get a bottle neck on decent pitching prospects. This will be interesting to watch when these guys run out of levels to be promoted too. Are we going to have a lot of guys that deserve a shot in the majors sitting at AAA or are there going to be a lot of trades involved? Maybe injuries will make this whole situation go away though, so who knows.
  9. It's likely as noted in the Transaction thread that infielder Matt Erickson, coming off a pretty incredible season with AAA Albuquerque (Marlins), has signed with the Brewers in a deal yet to be formally announced. Am I missing something here? This sounds too good to be true. Why is nobody else talking about this? We signed a 3B with a +900 OBS in AAA last year who is from Wisconsin. What is his future with the club? Is he strictly a 3B or could he move to RF? Does anyone know the equation that predicts MLB stats from AAA stats? Where would he fit on the Power 50? Am I getting too excited about this?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
  10. I hope he gets that 100th run. I know it is just a number, but its one more bit of amunition to use when he gets shafted in the ROY voting.
  11. If anybody knows how to run a successful Latin program, it would be a GM from Texas. I'm going to trust Melvin on this one. Hopefully the results will be better.
  12. I just wanted to remind everyone who will be singing durring the seventh inning stretch today...none other than Dwyane Wade.
  13. Well at least it was cool enough out today that white players were able to play.
  14. I just read that Jenks was placed on the 15 day DL and Conti's contract was purchased. sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news...&type=lgns
  15. Hall still shouldn't have flipped his bat after his homerun. Doing that last year got him in trouble with some of his teamates. I hate when players show off, especially rookies.
  16. After pitching so many innings already this year, I would not mind seeing Sheets miss one or even two starts. I know you want to see him pitch when you go to the game, but his health is more important.
  17. My post from the game on 8/13/2003: I didn't get to see the game, but it looks like the Pills touched up Ben pretty bad in the first. Was there any sign of injury, as it sounds like his back may have had trouble loosening up? Is there any reason to be concerned, or did he just not have his stuff tonight? I'm not reposting this to say I told you so. I am posting this to say that even to someone who just looked at the box score after the game, there was a reason to be concerned. I would like to know why he was put back out there when he was not ready to pitch. Of course, I have come to expect this from the Brewers.
  18. Bases loaded with one out...no runs. Thats how you win the first pick in the draft.

  20. Good first inning. Lets see how Kinney does with a lead.
  21. I hope the weather in Beloit is better than in Milwaukee. I have not seen the sun yet today through the rain.
  22. Load the bases with 1 out...Hall and Ginter strike out. Seems like they don't want to win. Jim made a good point that this team is worn out and needs a day off. Hopefully they can suck it up and get a win.
  23. This game is going by so fast its the 5th inning and nobody has started a topic on it. Im listening on the radio, but it sounds like Sheets is pitching a great game.
  24. Was it just me, or did Scott have his fly open in his first AB?
  25. How about Scotty P going 3 for 4 and getting his AVG back above .300. Hopefully he is coming out of his miny slump:-).
