  1. I know it's a bit off topic, but has anyone heard who the Brewers are calling up to replace Braun on the roster for the rest of this season?
  2. Outside of the bullpen, (and injuries) the 2013 Brewers are nearly identical to the final few months of 2012 Brewers on paper. I guess the question for me boils down to whether or not the 2012 Brewers decent late surge is the true talent level of this team, or the 2012 first half and 2013 first half are more accurate. I tend to unfortunately settle on the pessimistic side and think that the second half of 2012 was the result of a variety of factors and that this year the team is playing to their "norm." That being said, I do think that the plan to go younger in the rotation, at least with Peralta, will give the team another quality arm over the long-haul.
  3. I agree with you, but if MLB really wants to suspend someone can't they simply do it arbitrarily no matter what anyone else says pretty much? I mean, they fired the last arbiter that didn't agree with their position and it seems to me that the players are making out very well under the current CBA and that they won't walk en masse if they go after Braun. I honestly don't see what is stopping MLB from simply doing whatever they want to do.
  4. Burgos was optioned and left his latest start early with more soreness. Figaro also had a setback. Estrada still has to go on a rehab assignment. So not real clear about the 4 & 5 starters after the break. Looks like it's Gindl per JSOnline.
  5. So far so good for Wily.... (knocking on wood)
  6. So if I am reading the report correctly, MLB is looking at suspending Rodriguez and Braun for 100 games. 50 for the use of a banned substance and 50 for not cooperating. Later on in the same article from OTL is also says that MLB has not yet even spoken with ARod and had talked to Braun on the 29th. So in the ARod case how can they suspend someone for not cooperating who hasn't even been interviewed yet but who they are still planning on talking with?
  7. Thomas also played football at Auburn and did not suddenly put on a ton of muscle mass in the middle of his career. He was a big dude from the start. If I had to guess which 90's era stars were not using steroids it would be Griffey and Thomas.
  8. I have been tuning in and out of the game doing 4th related stuff this AM. What did he do?
  9. What a brilliant show Haha.... great find. I should have known that Maharis was a reference. Just finished watching this and think that Season 4 ended well. Foreshadowing and inside humor were up to expectations for me.
  10. If my quick math is correct, last night's loss put the Brewers on pace to lose 98 games this season. That puts this team on pace to lose the second most games in franchise history (after 2002). They are one game ahead of the 1970 first year Brewers, and ahead of all of the teams in the dark ages that were the 1990's in Milwaukee baseball history. I think that things may have hit the fan pretty quickly for a team that made the NLCS just two years ago.
  11. FWIW, I think it's a bit premature to say that Burgos is "ruined" after a grand total of six big league starts.
  12. I get the premise from the OP, but I don't share the sentiments from some posters here about the lack of excitement. While obviously this year is much different than 2008 or 2011 when we were playing for something, I am always excited to see a major league game. I was a diehard fan all thru the incredibly lean years (not even rebuilding, just bad) in the 90's and will continue to be a fan for life. Of course I hope that we are always playing for something, but for me, there is nothing more relaxing than a summer night watching guys play a kids game at an incredibly high level. America, apple pie, baseball in summer, etc. etc. I find something deeply reassuring in the knowledge that it will be there no matter what else is happening in life year in and year out. That's just me, but the love of the game itself will always be a draw and nothing on the field itself can change that.
  13. [quote= Plus, you know, who else are they going to call up? Chris Saenz isn't available. I love the Chris Saenz reference.
  14. I could be wrong, but could it be his numbers against the Phillies this year?
  15. You couldn't get rid of seats at the home opener? C'mon. I had 20 people asking me for tickets. You didn't really try very hard. No kidding. I had to shell out about 50 bucks a pop for ours in the terrace reserved. I got lucky and ended up paying $25 for two on gameday at the stadium. I think I benefited from some who had imbibed way too much not wanting to go in anymore.
  16. Yeah, I am pretty sure this is true. Back in April a buddy and I went to a game. When he met me at my house he came armed with a full pizza and some breadsticks he had picked up on the way which we were able to carry in with no problem (other than the ushers saying that they wanted some pizza.)
  17. So Thornburg pitches in relief today, and I assume that he will not be available to start now. That must mean that they brought him up for relief over the next couple of days and will be starting someone else this weekend?
  18. He was in a gray A's (I'm assuming Henderson) jersey last night. I saw that too... I assumed it was a Fingers jersey or something Brewers related since he seems like the ultimate Crew diehard.
  19. Perhaps because we couldn't get much in return?
