  1. On paper, we should be able to take it to this KC starter. On paper. Paper.
  2. I keep hearing that stat about the Brewers not losing a game with a lead in the 8th inning since July of last year or something... but hasn't K-Rod blown 3 games for us this year on his own? And Axford a couple? Maybe I'm not listening closely enough to what that stat is.
  3. So far so good. A quality start would be exceeding my expectations for sure.
  4. Fiers' luck will run out if he keeps catching that much of the plate.
  5. I've been on a quest to avoid a dealer and find a deal on an early 2000's Civic/Corolla with 100,000ish miles on it for $4000-5000. Not going too well. There sure are a lot of flakes on Craigslist.
  6. I've been looking to buy a house in that area for the last few months, hopefully I'll be doing so next year. I haven't researched it much, but most of the north shore seems to be an incredibly good area for schools.
  7. It's strange to me how often threads asking about bringing back some mediocre-at-best former Brewer come up. It's fairly regular.
  8. I'm sure it's a nice enough place, but after a lot of research this week I am convinced that there is very little to do other than eat BBQ and go to a Royals game in Kansas City. Which is fine, I can work with that.
  9. Coquette Cafe is my recommendation. I yelp a lot if you wanna check out my other favorite restaurants. You can sort the reviews by highest rating. Me and the girlfriend eat out a lot. http://chadmichael.yelp.com.
  10. They probably want kottares to continue catching. Lucroy's been playing a lot.
  11. I think I'm heading out there as well. Any recommendations on things to do and places to eat would be appreciated. I'll be spending a lot of time researching BBQ the next few weeks...
  12. This is in the "Gamel tore his ACL" thread. It is amusing though.
  13. I'm sure the brass didn't expect to announce these extensions during a time when this team is absolutely awful.
  14. Nottso... that sounds like a fascinating story and I would love to hear some more details when you get the time. I'm headed to New Orleans this Friday the 11th. I'm reading that Kermit Ruffins is at Blue Nile so I'm hoping to check that out. There is a ton of information on NOLA in this thread, but I thought I'd bump it in case anyone didn't see it the first time around and wants to add something. This will be my third time out there, and I'm really looking forward to it.
  15. Not a surprising move, but like everyone else said it's a shame. He had the stuff to be really good. It is definitely strange that they didn't put Gamel on the 60 day DL first and then release Braddock if they needed to free up yet another spot for some reason.
  16. The Gamel injury is just a huge blow to the offense in my mind. I really liked what I had seen so far from Gamel. I expected him to improve and put up pretty good numbers this year. None of it matters though if our pitching doesn't improve. Tough start to the season. I'm usually a pretty optimistic fan and the Suppan loss coupled with the Gamel injury has made it into a dark week for me as a Brewer fan.
  17. I'm not sure how the Wii works with 2K. I bought a 2K game a few years ago and returned it. Not sure if you've played them both, but in my opinion the Show is way way WAY better. I am not a huge video game guy, but I plunked down the $250 on a PS3 JUST to play MLB The Show. Over a year later, another copy of the Show purchased, and I do not regret that decision at all.
  18. I also started with sticker books as a 7 or 8 year old back in '87/'88. I remember getting the Dale Sveum and BJ Surhoff Brewer stickers. That was a vivid memory from my childhood, actually.
  19. I am not anti-union and not trying to start a union-based argument here... but in this case the union is probably too strong for anything to be done about it. Sometimes that is just the case. It's too bad because the umpiring has been AWFUL for years now.
  20. I like him and I think he's probably about as good as Morgan - and very similar in many ways. I hope that if Morgan gets hot we can trade him at the deadline this year or let him go after this year... there's really no point in having both Morgan AND Aoki AND Schafer. Schafer would probably be starting if not for our plethora of centerfielders right now.
  21. Lowering pitch speed helps for sure. The Show 11 was my first experience with these games, and it was very hard for me at first. Eventually I made it past that "swing at everything" mentality and got pretty dominant playing on Veteran. I moved to All-Star for The Show 12 and I was constantly getting beat 2-0, 3-0... couldn't hit anymore. I've lowered the pitch speed 3 ticks and I'm 9-9 in my season so far. I still am not hitting all that well, so I may lower the pitch speed even further... but I'll probably give it another 10 games before deciding. Unlike many Show fans, I like hitting a ton... I don't need it to be a total sim experience... but Veteran was getting too easy for me as well. I'd try taking pitch speed down 2 ticks and then try other things if that still doesn't change your situation.
  22. I feel bad for rickie. I know he'll end up with decent numbers this year... I just wonder how much longer the slump will last.
  23. Didn't expect that out of Aram. I am not confident in ANY of our RP's right now.
