  1. Really disappointed that we didn't hold onto Jer Hair Jr. I really hope they at least offered the 2 years / 6 mil as well... that would make me feel a little better about missing out on him. I'm really kind of surprised, too. I thought he'd be a top priority to sign because he's so valuable to back us up at 3B, SS, 2B, CF, almost anywhere. Dang.
  2. Hanley also seems to be selfish and immature, and sometimes lazy. I would take him for his offensive potential, but wouldn't give up close to what the Marlins would want.
  3. Yep, Reyes is a Marlin. Time to move on.
  4. I don't approve of trading Wolf to free up payroll. For one, he's the only starter that has a team option after this coming season. Although it probably won't get picked up, it's nice to have a chance to retain at least ONE of the three pitchers that may leave post-2012. Second, and most importantly, that rotation isn't that good, and it's one injury away from being a total mess. We got really lucky that no one went down for too long in 2011 and we only had to use 6 starters. That is unlikely to happen again. Your proposed rotation is a big downgrade and a huge risk if someone gets hurt. And if Marcum doesn't recover we'd be even more screwed than we would be with our current rotation. The rest of the ideas seem reasonable, I just don't think we can afford to trade a pitcher to free up payroll. The rotation was our demise, but it was also what got us so deep into October in the first place.
  5. You may be right about Green and Farris, but they see Schafer as a possible starting CF of the future I think... so he's going to spend next year in AAA where he can play everyday, I would guess.
  6. No way I'd give him more than a year at a time, but I'm happy for him nonetheless.
  7. It's too bad Ramirez isn't a switch hitter or one of Gamel/Green was right-handed. Ramirez could be in platoons at 1B and 3B with Gamel/Green. I thought Green was a promising prospect before those wrist injuries? Maybe not.
  8. It's hard for me to believe that they're going to let Green sit in AAA next year. And Gamel can't be in AAA, so he's either on the team or traded. I really don't like this move if they give him more than 2 years... and it seems as if he's going to get 3 years somewhere.
  9. Does anyone know how he rates defensively?
  10. He was healthy last year but not in 2009 or 2010. He's getting older and less likely to be able to give us 140 games. I really wouldn't want to sign him to more than a one year deal, and I bet he gets 2 years somewhere. I also am fully content with giving Taylor Green a shot next year, though. I would rather the Brewers spend any available money at SS, the bullpen, and a back-up plan or platoon partner for Gamel and/or Green.
  11. Can't believe he got two years.
  12. 5 years, 100 million and not a penny more. Smell ya later Prince, it's been real.
  13. I know there are at least a couple of Ryan Adams fans here... anyone going to his Chicago show in December? I would've loved to have gone, but didn't see he was coming until 4 days after tix went on sale. Scalpers bought them all up already... and I don't really want to give a scalper my money.
  14. I think the Brewers COULD come up with the money to sign Fielder if they wanted to, but I don't think they really want to. Not at what his asking price will be. It's not worth it and they know that.
  15. Barmes is now off the table, and count me in the camp that doesn't believe we have any real intention of signing Reyes (or Fielder for that matter)... so I wonder how much Rollins is going to end up with. I really have no idea. I sure would love him at 3 years / 30 million, but 4 years scares me unless it's for cheaper than 10 per year, and 5 years is a horrible idea. I have a feeling Philly or someone else will be willing to give him 4 years and 10+ per year, though... so maybe he's not a realistic option either.
  16. I don't think the Brewers truly believe they have a shot at Fielder, and anything that Mark A or anyone in the organization has said is simply for PR's sake. I highly doubt they would pass up opportunities because they're not sure if they're going to be using a quarter of their payroll to pay one guy next year.
  17. Barmes to the Pirates is a done deal according to MLBTR.
  18. Here's hoping it's two years and not three. Defensively I'm sure he'll be fine, but he's worse than Yuni offensively.
  19. I get the impression that Robin Yount doesn't want a coaching job in baseball.
  20. I am thinking of buying a couple tickets for this for a family member for a Christmas gift... but I just don't know if they'd be into it. Is this event really for kids and/or autograph hounds? If you're an adult that doesn't really care about obtaining an autograph, is this event worth going to?
  21. The Brewers won 96 games last year and a big part of it was their starting rotation. I don't see them trading Randy Wolf for a pitching prospect. They have another realistic chance to play deep into October again if they upgrade 3B/SS to make up for an offensive loss at 1B.
  22. Although I think PnR is the most consistently funny comedy on Network TV right now, Community is the most ambitious and I really appreciate it for that. Community takes risks that other shows do not, and a lot of the time it pays off. I watch Community and PnR every week, and the Office because it's on at the the same time... even though it's not the same without Michael Scott.
  23. Yeah, this is probably a good idea. It'd be nice if Rogers or Braddock could contribute to the MLB team next year.
  24. I agree, he may leave because he knows he'll be a backup plan in Milwaukee... which is why we may need to shell out a little more dough to keep him. I'd be up for that, within reason. Having him to fill in at 3B, SS, 2B, or CF is very valuable.
