  1. JerHairJr for 2 years at 2 mil per year sounds like a great deal to me. I could see him getting 3 per year, actually. I hope we're able to resign him, as he adds a lot of depth to the team in case of injury or if Taylor Green (or Casey McGehee) are terrible.
  2. No offense clancy, because I don't see any problem with being high... but I think you're high. I may have to buy you dinner if any of those Top 5 happen other than maybe CJ Wilson to Toronto. Also, David Freese isn't going to get bumped from 3B for Aramis Ramirez.
  3. I am done watching The Walking Dead. I have wanted so badly to like this show, but the fact of the matter is that it's terrible. There is no character development and therefore the show is filled with a bunch of boring and/or unlikeable people that I don't ultimately care about. The pacing is painfully slow. Nothing actually happens most of time, except occasionally during the last couple of minutes so that you want to tune into the next one. Reminds me of some of the worst episodes of LOST, but at least LOST had some interesting/likable characters. Oh, and the dialogue is embarrassing. This was a great idea for a show that the writers are completely screwing up in almost every way.
  4. I'd love to know what Jim wants to do with Taylor Green and Mat Gamel. These are not players that you just trade away for nothing.
  5. I didn't think there was any chance whatsoever we would sign Jose Reyes, but I'm hearing so much hype about it I'm actually starting to buy into it. If the money/years don't get totally out of hand, maybe it's possible?
  6. Are we trading just to trade? Hart is more valuable to the 2012 team than Jurrgens is.
  7. Have any of you bought used from a private seller? Everywhere I read online about buying a used car privately, they say "make sure you get it checked out by a mechanic before buying"... but finding people that are actually open to letting you do that seems difficult. I don't know anything about cars, so I would really love to be able to have it checked out before giving someone thousands of dollars and then driving away.
  8. Good riddance ya dirty bum Cubs fan. Just kidding. Sort of.
  9. You can still lock in the lower rate up until February, I did this last year because I didn't want to buy them until I knew what the Brewers offseason plans were. Once the Greinke and Marcum deals were done, I was on board.
  10. Doesn't anyone else think that from a PR standpoint, Mark A. HAS to say that they're going to try and sign Fielder? Him saying that means absolutely nothing to me.
  11. I thought I saw some projections that said the Brewers have 9-12 million in flexibility this offseason. The money that some people think we have for Fielder doesn't actually exist if those projections are correct. The years - as almost always - scare me a lot more than the money Reyes will get. Anything more than 4 years seems like a bad idea.
  12. I am afraid of signing him long-term due to the injuries, but if healthy he'd obviously almost make up for losing Prince Fielder just on his own. But... i just don't see where this money comes from to sign him. Don't see it as possible at all.
  13. The eating thing might've been a nod to Brad Pitt in Ocean's Eleven.
  14. I enjoyed it but I think it would be kinda dry or dull to someone that isn't a baseball nerd. My girlfriend concurred. She likes baseball but isn't a stat geek. B- Saw 50/50 that same day and thought it was better.
  15. I think the Giants do make sense. Mostly because they really need offense, and Sabean loves making bad long-term decisions.
  16. Correct, Green and Gamel producing in 2012 makes it so they can afford to improve other areas of the team - mainly SS and the bullpen. I definitely want them both starting next year, with back-up plans/platoon-mates on the bench in case of injury or underperformance. Hairston, McGehee, and another player acquired by trade or free agency would do the trick.
  17. It's funny that people actually believe the Brewers have the money to sign either Prince or Reyes this offseason. The money is not there.
  18. I agree with Al and RockCoCougars... I don't think there's any way they'd trade Axford unless we got at least 2 good AND cheap/controlled players in return. No reason to. I also believe closers are overrated, but he's an extremely good relief pitcher that you can count on, and he's dirt cheap right now. His value to us is incredibly high regardless of when he pitches.
  19. CF Morgan 1B GamelLF Braun2B WeeksRF Hart3B GreenSS Barmes / someone via trade or some free agent that isn't Jose ReyesC Lucroy GreinkeGallardoMarcumWolfNarveson Estrada, Hawkins, Axford, and some new dudes in the 'pen. Hairston, Gomez, and Maldanado or Kottares off the bench. I would prefer they go this route and make the priority a good shortstop, but I wouldn't be surprised if Gamel or Green got moved. Seems like they might be hesitant to start two rookies next year, but I'd be okay with it as long as there are some decent backups off our bench. I don't think McGehee has value to this team at this point, mostly because of his poor defense. I hope they trade him and somehow get someone useful. Hairston is a great back-up plan for 3B, SS, AND CF in case of injury or underperformance... and it'd be great if they could get a guy to platoon with Gamel if need be. The Morgan/Gomez platoon is pretty ideal to me. I prefer Gomez's defense but because of his terrible OBP I'd like Morgan starting 4-5 days a week.
  20. Yep. A born-again-Christian white dude is going to get a longer leash than a black guy with a big personality.
  21. Like someone had said earlier, if you don't put yourself on that "Immediate Refund List" through your rep, I think they're going to leave your charges as-is and then ask if you want to put that money towards next year's tickets. I believe that process happens in November. Unless you're talking about a lottery purchase... in which case I have no idea when that refund will happen. I signed up for the Immediate Refund List and was also told it would take about 10 days to process, due to MLB double-checking the refund calculations.
  22. I was just searching around MLBTradeRumors and he's seeking 5 years, but the people at that website believe he'll get 3 or 4 years in reality. 12-14 per year.
  23. Is Rollins an option? What kind of money is he going to get? I agree that SS is where most of our free agent money is going to go, regardless of what is left. Just not sure who we can afford.
  24. I was wondering the same thing. I don't really want to pay a month of interest on my credit card for that $1500+ the Brewers currently owe me.
  25. I posted something similar in another thread, but there's no reason to believe that the Brewers can't compete again in 2012. A lot of the team will be back again next year, there's some money coming off the books, and an upgrade at 3B and/or SS should really help things. I fully expect them to be playing meaningful games again next September.
