  1. My band plays out in Minneapolis a few times every year so I go out in that city somewhat regularly... Williams in Uptown on Hennepin is a peanut bar with a million beers on tap. It's not cheap there, but it's certainly not wallet-busting either. More of a sports bar atmosphere. There's a place called "Matt's Bar" that serves Jucy Lucy's - you may have seen them on the Food/Travel channels. It's a burger with a molten core of cheese. Highly recommended. Do not mistakenly go to the 5-8 Club for a Juicy Lucy... Matt's is the place to go. Another good place for food is one of the Pizza Luce restaurants. And most importantly... there is a VFW Hall right next to a bar called the Herkimer - both are about 2 miles from William's. At this VFW Hall is where dreams are made and karaoke is done right. Beer is also cheap. You are guarenteed a good time there.
  2. when do we find out if Hart won or lost his arbitration case this morning?
  3. on one of the short-term policies we offered I remembered the terminology of the contract being something like "signs, symptoms, threatment, or diagnosis" of a particular problem/ailment/illness. So if you went to a doctor the day your coverage started - let's say on a Friday - and he asked you how long you've been feeling ill... if you answered "Thursday" - THAT would be a pre-existing condition just because you felt the signs or symptoms of it before your coverage started. Be careful and always read your contract first.
  4. Like Tito said, I would recommend staying at your work in order to keep your benefits. Is staying on part-time an option there? I used to work for a major health insurance company in Milwaukee and you definitly will be able to get coverage... it's just a matter of finding a policy that will cover your pre-existing condition. The chances of finding one that is affordable to you is very slim. You can definitely get short-term or personal insurance yourself, but the better coverage you get the more you're going to pay - obviously.
  5. With the Leno debacle going off the air in February, NBC ordered an extra two episodes of the Office this season... so maybe the clip show helps them fill out one of those extra episodes... I don't know. I think Community is pretty hit or miss, but Parks and Rec has been the funniest show on the Thursdays by far this year. I found it really boring the first season but I'm glad I gave it another shot - it's great now. I don't think the Office has faded, I still love it... but Parks and Rec has been better lately. As for 30 Rock... I don't "get" that show. Don't find it funny at all.
  6. In my opinion Jay Leno is one of the most successful talentless people of all time. I know the older crowd loves him, but I don't think he's funny at all and is one of the most boring interviewers ever. Long live Conan.
  7. I'm going on Saturday - just under the wire!
  8. I ALSO was born on December 27th. I turned 29. I drank a lot of beer and whiskey and danced like an idiot at Jocats. Good birthday.
  9. Wow, didn't expect a Dr. Dre reference on a Brewer message board.
  10. I understand the salary crunch, but I think given what the Braves actually got... Melvin dropped the ball on this. Vasquez, Gallardo, Wolf, Parra, Bush/Suppan would've been a really nice upgrade from what we're actually going to have going into 2010.
  11. Well, turns out Vasquez WAS avaiable... and he's going to the Yankees. I'm guessing Melvin didn't want to pay his 11 million for this season, but I still think he dropped the ball on this one. Acquiring Vasquez would have improved our rotation in a major way.
  12. This will answer all of your questons... you have to scroll down to the Octopus section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Red_Wings
  13. Make sure you watch all the Brewers/Astros games this coming year, then.
  14. Agreed, this looks pretty good I think: 1 Weeks 2 Zaun 3 Braun 4 Fielder 5 McGehee 6 Hart 7 Escobar 8 Lopez 9 Pitcher
  15. Why would we trade an overpaid pitcher we don't need AND a quality reliever for an overpaid 3B we REALLY don't need? This seems like a minimal salary dump to me. Coffey doesn't make that much, I don't see the purpose unless you REALLY want Suppan out of that 5th spot in the rotation... which I can't blame you for http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Anthony Witrado is on WSSP right now saying that the Padres are going to hold onto Correia, so we better just give up any hope of us trading and/or signing him. That should be written in blue. Witrado is a joke of a journalist. He also called Mark Attanasio "gangster" during this segment.
  17. I agree, we should offer SOMETHING in trade before he is free to sign with anyone. He'd be a lot cheaper than Doug Davis and possibly as effective.
  18. I think we have our starting lineup finalized now that Gomez and Zaun have been added... and I'm really curious how the lineup is going to shake out. Here's my idea: 1 Escobar 2 Weeks 3 Braun 4 Fielder 5 McGehee 6 Hart 7 Zaun 8 Gomez It's tough putting something together with Escobar, Zaun, and Gomez in the lineup. Zaun gets on base but has little power. Escobar seems to be able to hit but he is unproven. And Gomez doesn't get on base.
  19. Good pitcher, but I don't think we needed to pay this much for a decent reliever. I would've rather put any extra cash towards one of the high-risk/high-ceiling guys like Harden, Duscherer, etc.
  20. Why aren't the Brewers trying to get Vasquez? Are the Braves waiting to see if they can ditch Lowe first? I really think the Brewers would be able to make that happen if they wanted to. Having a rotation of Vasquez, Gallardo, Wolf, Parra, and Suppan sure would be nice. Is it because they can't afford it at this point now that Wolf is on board?
  21. I still don't understand this... I guess I never have. Most hitters are right-handed... wouldn't a lefty starter be a DISadvantage for the most part? Unless you're facing the 2007 Cincinnati Reds?
  22. Oh, also, these would be in my top 10 but I don't really remember what came out in the past 10 years, I'm just picking my favorites from your lists... Eternal Sunshine The Departed Almost Famous Donnie Darko Vanilla Sky The Dark Knight Slumdog Millionare The 40 Year Old Virgin Requiem For A Dream The LOTR Movies Also, I saw No Country way too late and it had been overhyped to me. I liked it but didn't think it was that great. For some reason Slumdog lived up to the hype even though it was a similar situation for me and the timing in which I saw it.
  23. The Girlfriend Experience? Really? Best of the last 10 years? My girlfriend and I couldn't make it more than 20 minutes before turning it off and sending it back to Netflix. Girlfriend Experience, more like the BOREfriend Experience!
  24. Does that Muse single remind anyone else of "Call Me" by Blondie? Just one part of it in particular.
  25. Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I meant to say that the odds are stacked against Weeks playing an entire healthy season due to the fact that he hasn't done so in years. I think it's a huge mistake not to offer Lopez arbitration. Chances are that a major injury will occur to one of our starting infielders... most likely Weeks and possibly McGehee... possibly anyone for that matter. Lopez would've been good insurance IF he had somehow accepted arbitration, which no one expects.
