  1. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=Mlb&id=3991 I've heard it on three different places now. Rotoworld suggests the Reds want Baly or Cueto and Votto, and there's no chance of that happening. Which is good for us, because don't look now but the Reds have assembled a decent pitching staff. Add Blanton and its obviously better.
  2. Gimme Ellsbury, Lester and Masterson or Jed Lowrie. They can have Sheets.
  3. Randy Ready will take the helm of the Triple-A Portland Beavers. Ready served as manager for Double-A San Antonio in 2007, leading the Missions to a 73-66 record and the Texas League Championship. Prior to joining the Missions he served as manager of the Padres Single-A Midwest League affiliate in Fort Wayne from 2004-2006, leading the Wizards to a 208-209 record (.499), including a playoff berth in 2006. Jose Flores makes his managerial debut for the Rookie League Peoria Padres in 2008, after serving as the Short-A Eugene Emeralds hitting coach in 2007. A former infielder, Flores spent the 2006 season at the Triple-A level in the Cleveland Indians and San Francisco Giants organizations. Flores will be joined by first-time coach Bronswell Patrick. Originally selected by Oakland in the 23rd round of the 1988 June draft, the right-hander pitched in parts of two Major League seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers (1998) and Giants (1999). Bob Skube moves from Single-A Fort Wayne to take over as hitting coach in his second season in the Padres system, while Ernesto Vega, Jr. returns for his second season as athletic trainer.
  4. Anyone know the current whereabouts of two of my all-time favorite obscure Brewers, Bob Skube and Doug Loman>?
  5. I'm planning on attending, I'll probably bring a friend.

  8. Cow. Love me some burgers.
  9. Free food and drink at nine different places whenever I want to, Bucks tickets, Packers game usually once a year with limo, and I get 5-10 Brewers games (front row, right behind the vistors dugout). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Kruger, my son tells me your company STINKS!
  11. Badgers are going to be a big surprise this season- this is the year Brian Butch becomes an All-American candidate.
  12. Laird would be the one player I'd want as an upgrade at catcher. I think we might have something in LeCroy down the line, too. Not real high on Salome.
  13. PackerForum.com is pretty good too.
  14. Why don't we get someone veteran like Jim Fregosi if we want to look outside the organization? One reason- Ned's insecurity. I think the fact that Nick Leyva had ANY major league managerial experience made Ned nervous.
  15. Call him, and schedule a meeting in your office. He'll show up, and then you just look up at him and say.... 'What would you say you DO here?" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. Back to the Bono episode: "You ARE Number Two!!!"
  17. And a new avatar is born to offer my support to Mr. Don Money, a great Brewer, and a great American.
  18. Money, money, money, mon-ay......MON-AY!
  19. I would be absolutely Giddy if Don Money is the guy. My favorite non-superstar Brewer of all time, and I love his work as a manager. No brainer.
  20. I'm kind of wishywashy on my "other" teams. I probably need to lock that down, so here goes. I always like to pick a team in another league. MLB: Boston Red Sox NFL: Buffalo Bills (this one has been since 6th grade) NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves Colleges (other than Wisconsin): Tennessee But I still love the Brewers, the Pack, the Badgers, and the Bucks. PS- Hockey isn't a real sport.
  21. No, proposing we deal him.
  22. I think most of us realize that it was indeed the bullpen that did us in. Many have said it was Yost's "mismanagement" of the bullpen. However, I for one believe the onus is on the players to perform- our bullpen (save Cordero, Shouse, and sometimes Linebrink) usually didn't. Doug Melvin's main issue to address for 2008, in my opinion, is the bullpen construction. I'll tell you my plan, you tell me yours. Re-sign Cordero. Move Dave Bush to the pen in a set-up role. Keep Manny Parra or Capuano (whoever loses the 5th starter job) as long reliever. Attempt to re-sign Linebrink. Keep Shouse. Check out Mitch Stetter long and hard in camp. Look to a bunch of "arms" in camp to fill a couple other spots. Vargas would be great in a middle role, but they are going to need his salary space to re-sign both Cordero and Linebrink in my opinion. Aquino is not in my plans, nor is Spurling, nor Turnbow or Wise. They are all prime trade candidates in my opinion, especially Turnbow who will have suitors. CL: Cordero SU: Linebrink 7th: Bush LOOGY: Shouse LONG: Parra/Cappy 6th and 7th relievers?: Stetter? Steve Bray? FA/trade acquisition I know most of you are going to tell me it's going to be a hard sell to bring back both Cordero and Linebrink, but I think it's going to happen. Both like it here, both want to stay. Mark A. will shell out the money to make it happen. Our bullpen largely cost us the division, not Yost, not anything else. You don't start out rebuilding a pen by losing its two most effective contributors. Discuss.
  23. I was impressed with Yost's fire the last couple of days. I was at the game Monday night and when he came out to argue that call, got tossed, and kept on arguing it was great. I can't remember hearing a larger ovation for a manager from a crowd.

  25. The Yankees won't be giving up Joba or Hughes for an injury prone, overpaid pitcher anytime soon. Cashman hung his hat on his specs, those guys are like gold to him right now.
