  1. Cliff Lee is having a nice season, we'll see if it lasts.
  2. +1 Show me something, Doug.
  3. All the replies in this thread have been solid, I'm not going to take issue with anyone's opinion here. I feel like the jury is still out on a bunch of his current decisions, however Melvin has some work to do this year and what he does with this club from here on out is going to be the determining factor on what his job performance is. If he chooses to sit on the current team that's not going to work for me.
  4. I'm all for Weaver. He does something that we aren't getting from our 3-5 spots- he pitches 7 innings consistently.
  5. Please, please, please let's not turn this into another Yost bashing thread. There are plenty of those floating around already.
  6. Simple answer to the topic's question? YES. I'll keep saying it: inhale.....exhale.
  7. I appreciate his candor. Of course it doesn't give us our 10 million dollars back, or give us a true closer. Luismar Pena, where are you?
  8. Let's not get carried away quite yet. As far as I can tell Melvin has made ONE huge mistake, and that was Gagne. The rotation wouldn't have been that big of a problem had Gallardo not been injured, it was a fluke and out of Melvin (on anyone's) control. Some questionable moves that the jury is still out on: 1) Suppan's contract 2) Signing Bill Hall to an extension 3) Giving Cameron money instead of going with Gwynn in CF 4) Relying on a right handed heavy lineup 5) The youngsters (Weeks, Parra, Villy) that may or may not pan out 6) His 2008 bullpen construction beyond Gagne It's May, folks. I can't say it enough. I know we're all frustrated right now, but there is still plenty of time to turn this thing around. We're only 5 games out....how many games were the Cubs behind us at one point last season? Inhale....exhale.
  9. Buck Showalter. We need a no-nonsense guy to instill discipline into these young players. After that, we switch to a laid back coach ala Yankees/Diamonbacks. We need this to get over the hump from pretender to contender.
  10. Sparky can go to sleep now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. I simply want guys who will give us 7 solid innings. The Blue Jays rotation has a bunch of complete games and their guys (Halladay, McGowan, Marcum) are consistently going into the 8th inning. Stop babying these guys, already.
  12. Pipe dreams are great, but the Rays aren't dealing Kazmir. I'm trying to not be reactionary, but I feel doing nothing isn't serving the teams interest either. I'd feel better with Weaver in the rotation right now than either Villy or Parra, to be honest. I feel like neither can get past the 5th inning.
  13. This topic seems appropriate now. Could we get Oswalt?? Gamel, Jefferies, and ??? (Brantley) I really don't want to give up LaPorta but do we need to now?
  14. With Turnbow gone McClung could now serve in middle relief where he's best suited. I'd guess it won't be long before Bush returns.
  15. I'm surprised no one is mentioning Iribarren. "The Hurricane" is at least a hustling version of Ronnie Belliard with better defense.
  16. Let's say for the sake of discussion that Sheets is out for an extended period of time. Everything about the way Melvin has put this team together for this season points to it being a "playoffs or bust" style season. With Sheets out, we need to acquire another top of the rotation starter. Who's out there, who could we get? What could we give up? Be realistic.
  17. That's not right.....and sorry I missed it.
  18. Yeah, I haven't met any of you guys before. I'll try to find you somehow.
  19. I'm ok with it, as long as Parra or Villanueva aren't sent down or removed from the rotation because of the presence of Weaver. I actually think Weaver may > McClung in a long relief role.
  20. I'm a fan of Milwaukee, to be honest. I've been here and there, spent some time living in Florida as well. I just like Milwaukee. Not too big, not too small, has pro teams, and the people are generally "good".
  21. Pedro- you da man! I'm in.
  22. 11 games at SS, the most at any position. What happened to "Crabbe can't play SS"?? Here's a question: Who would you rather have, Craig Counsell and his salary or Crabbe and his??
