  1. Ah, Billy Bates. One of my all time favorite scrappers.
  2. Yeah- I wouldnt do the above trade at all. I don't think I want Griffey, to be honest.
  3. Sparky mentioned this on his show this morning. I replied as such: I think you need to think through what you're proposing: To MIL: OF Ken Griffey, Jr. To CIN: OF Geoff Jenkins OF Tony Gwynn, Jr. SP Chris Cody I have no issue with Cody being involved. My bigger issue is this: why even bother doing the trade??? Griffey's numbers are better than Jenkins, to be sure. However, it's not by much, and by doing this deal you would be severely limiting the Brewers depth, now and in the future. Let's worry about now for the time being. Let's say Bill Hall isn't back until September (worst case scenario). You now have Kevin Mench playing every day (he can't hit righties to save his life), Griffey in CF, and Hart in RF. Yost would probably use Gabe Gross in the Jenkins role, playing him everyday in left field versus RHP, and Mench versus LHP. This leaves you with a reserve OF of Laynce Nix, who can't stay healthy. Past that, outfield depth in the higher levels is minimal. You'd have to dip down to someone like Drew Anderson if need be, and that's scary. What happens if Griffey gets hurt in that situation? I don't like the idea of trading Jenkins in a Griffey deal. I'd rather try to move Mench, Gwynn, and maybe someone like Alcides Escobar. You're on the right track, I just don't know if you've thought through the ramifications of such a deal. Are you OK with Gabe Gross playing as much as Jenkins has??
  4. Count me in!
  5. If passing is what we want then get some pass first point guard. Hell, let Bell run the point.
  6. From Gary Woelfel (in the know more than anyone on the Bucks):
  7. Draft Yi in the first round. Sign Desmond Mason. Forget Billups, re-sign Mo Williams for half the price. Get a three point gunner with the 2nd round pick. Ship out Gadzuric and get a real backup big. End of offseason.
  8. Good point- I've always suggested that with consistent playing time and health Nix could be an acceptable major league outfielder. Why not Florida's horrible OF situation? Give us Lindstrom. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I'm ok with Mench as a platoon guy now. And I'm pretty sure I was the most vocal against him. The stats don't lie, he's not a great player. However, it's working. I'm in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp.
  10. Bucks seemed to be really impressed with both Brendan Wright and Mike Conley, Jr. from what I have read around.....but I also read that the Bucks have Al Horford as the #3 player in the draft. Basically, I know no more than I did a month ago.
  11. You never trade someone when their value is at its lowest.
  12. I'm not real concerned about limiting his innings, actually. Gallardo has a track record of being a horse, especially in high school. If he pitches 200-220 innings this season that isn't the end of the world.
  13. If anyone has blogs...please put up a post asking for Fielder votes. Thanks!
  14. "He's just like you guys, he's a stud." -Ned Yost to Fielder, Weeks, Hardy and Braun as Gallardo came off the field last night. He isn't leaving the rotation anytime soon.
  15. I'd buy one. Recte 44
  16. If Alan Trammell was the Cubs manager instead of "Sweet Lou" I might take them more seriously. 3-1 under Trammell, 28-34 under Piniella. Ok, I'm only HALF joking here. They seem to play tense under Piniella. They have talent, for sure. I think it's a typical Cubs team, though, overrated and mismanaged.
  17. We'd trade a league minimum ace quality pitcher for a guy whose making bigger money, is out of shape, and has an attitude problem? Yikes.
  18. Agree with all the respondents. Inman will get a cup of coffee next September if he progresses as he has.
  19. It's kind of like "Oh Man" coming out of the Cubs pen.
  20. Yeah, I guess. Grrrrrr. I'd just like to see some consistency.
  21. Don't let tonight's game fool you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Yeah, he has to come back to school and I wouldn't be surprised to see him complete both his junior AND senior years. Many more PG prospects coming out next season.
  23. Boom goes the dynamite.
  24. His OPS's were horrendous most seasons. His defense was overrated, though he did turn a nice double play. Gantner was the original "scrapper".
