  1. Is there a rule that you have to bring your closer in a save situation? If Yost did that he'd have been fired 1,000,000 times on this site.
  2. Seth McClung has sure provided a lot of value from the long relief spot this year. He eats innings better than Prince eats veggie dogs.
  3. Most definitely! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif No worries, though. They were due.
  4. I also blame whoever started this thread for the bullpen's failure today. Bad karma.
  5. Wow. That's almost double the innings that Marmol threw last year.
  6. The bullpen would be even better with a 2nd lefty like Swindle. Burns and Smith seem like nice pitchers, but I believe a 2nd lefty would provide some more flexibility. Perhaps Melvin is exploring trade options for a 2nd lefty before the deadline?
  7. Marcel projections have Glavine at a 4.66 ERA for this year. That's pretty valuable. Hopefully Melvin can get him at the right price.
  8. Team OBP is up 14 points from last year. It sure helps when players develop pitch recognition. Braun has been significantly better in that department with a .421 OBP so far.
  9. Ah yes, the "convenience" fees. It costs $4 per ticket to mail the tickets or assign them to Will Call?
  10. It wasn't haunted enough for us to win the series against the Twins last year. I believe we lost that series 1-2 at Miller Park. Maybe they were so relieved to get to the ballpark that it helped their play. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Did you guys take any of the Acturial exams? If not, I recommend to do so because that was some very good discussion between 2 smart individuals that would have the talent to pass such an exam. Good analysis. That said, Hart has been horrible lately and let's hope he gets back to at least his career norms if not better.
  12. I'm glad he likes Milwaukee. Hopefully he likes it enough to resign for 2010.
  13. I'm not taking DM's comments at full price, homer. If you choose to do so, that's your decision. Part of a GM's job is to quiet the rumor mill to keep trade value intact and that statement does just that.
  14. The Brewers move of Escobar to 2B is writing on the wall to me that it's only a matter of time before he is our everyday 2B in 2009. 2010 might be a different story, but I think the Brewers are getting ready to call him up if he maintains decent performance in AAA.
  15. So if I have the 3 high queens and 2 jacks and don't pick the blind, God hates me? Crap.
  16. No. I can blame the umpires at any point in the game where they affect it towards a given outcome by a blown call or a changed call from a manager hissy fit that happens 0.0000001% of the time in sports. All you have to do is play out the scenario if the umpire sticks to his call, the Brewers have a lot better chance to win that game. Umpires influence games whether you like it or not and they should be blamed and accountable for their mishaps.
  17. If you want to start talking about 2010 catchers, it better not be Jason Kendall. That would be a waste of run production and money. I like the guy as he put up some great numbers earlier in his career, but he better not be on our team after this year because he doesn't give us the best chance to win. I'd be willing to give up the defense and start Salome because he has shown that his bat plays. If we could get Mauer type production (his upside) from the catcher position with average to below average defense, that would yield a lot better than whatever Jason Kendall brings to the table. And yes, I know Salome is struggling this year at the plate, but I'll trust his full body of minor league work over 1.5 months.
  18. A "mistake-free game"? Please define that. To me that seems impossible and I don't think it's been done in Major League history. Even in a "Perfect Game" thrown by a pitcher, he still could and does make mistakes, but usually the fielders or batters bail them out as that kind of performance takes some luck.
  19. As we anticipated when the contracts were given out, it could be the start of the fall of the Cubs empire. Possibly similar to the fall of Rome? Wait, the Cubs never won a World Series.
  20. Would that grand slam have occurred had the umpire not gave Joe Mauer 1st base as a pity gift? That sure sounds like someone (The Umpires) controlling a destiny to me. I think I need to go watch the movie Butterfly Effect again. Good flick.
  21. I made sure to boo Pujols everytime he came up to bat yesterday because players that Cadillac home runs and then feel that it's a crime for other players to do it as well aren't really high on my list of favorite players. I'm enjoying this current streak against the Cards because that's the best way to respond to a pompous player like Pujols: beat him.
  22. Apparently, not, Xcellence. The umpire controlled the destiny of that game.
  23. I can name something that will go right for Washington: Stephen Strasburg.
  24. Escobar, Jeffress, Periard, and Perez for Halladay? Lol. Yeah right. We'll see what this one turns out as if it indeed turns out.
  25. Tim Dillard could be a big riser. Also - Could Mike Jones make an appearance? I would think Evan Anunderson is due for a rise as well.
