  1. Besides his botched throw on a potential DP yesterday that cost us the game. Otherwise, yeah.
  2. A good number of Brewer fans seem to think that firing Ned Yost would solve most of the team weaknesses, but I agree, Macha is making a lot of the same blunders that Yost did. Starting Suppan game 1 was his biggest blunder so far because now Suppan has to pitch in the Cubs series when he could easily be pitching against the less talented Reds tomorrow. I also thought he left Bush in way too long last night. It was obvious that Bush had lost his command after the 5th inning when he was getting hit very hard and/or walking guys, but he got lucky with some long and hard hit outs hit right to the defense. I understand that Bush's pitch count was pretty low, but those were runs we could have prevented with a fresh pitcher out of the pen. The upside to the game, I guess, is that the bullpen wasn't used that much, but if you look at the other dugout, Pinella has pretty much emptied out his pen this series because he realizes the importance of the the games vs the Brewers in the standings.
  3. I'd boo Jordan Zimmerman. I went to Whitewater and Stevens Point was a huge rival of ours. Fortunately we beat those guys in the WIAC championship that year and went on to the D3 College World Series.
  4. I was hoping we'd try and aquire Adenhart and prospects in the offseason due their their surplus of pitching at the time. With Lackey and Santana on the DL, Adehnart got his shot. It's really too bad. He was a great pitcher and I got a chance to see him pitch at Spring Training at Tempe Diablo Stadium. I'm absolutely shocked.
  5. All of this running is getting silly. Can we have Yost back?
  6. You have to look at the area too though. Baltimore is surrounded by baseball towns to the South (Washington DC), Philly and NY to the North and East, and Pittsburgh isn't that far West. You pretty much have the metro area of Baltimore and that's all. And if you want to get away from calling them small market, let's call them payroll challenged. And they certainly are that compared to the other teams they are paired with in the AL East. If Fehr wouldn't be so stubborn about a salary cap or if they would put in a decent salary structure, these types of teams could compete for more than one or two years and then have to rebuild. Baltimore has had poor front office management in the last 10 years and they are starting to turn the corner, but they definitely have their limitations in terms of spending in that division.
  7. Let's see. According to wikipedia, Baltimore has a population of 637,555, and not only that, but they have to compete with the Nationals fans of Washington D.C. so their market is very limited. So the answer to that question would be THIS universe, although I'm not sure there is more than one. I'll give Copernicus a call and check that one out for you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore
  8. The Orioles fans shouldn't be booing Texiera. They should be booing guys like Scott Boras and Donald Fehr. Those guys are pretty much the reason that small market teams can't compete.
  9. ARam and Soriano will spend at least a combined 60 days on the DL.
  10. This is definitely jumping to conclusions, but I'll say it anyways. Maybe if Jack Z was the Brewers GM, Jeffress would be a reliever by now. It's something to wonder about. I'm not sure how Aumont feels about the decision since it lowers his value to be an RP, but he also gets a chance to see the Big Leagues faster so that might have been why he agreed to it.
  11. Tom Handricourt actually discusses that in a recent blog post. He said basically that the Giants were being greedy trying to get an extra exhibition game in. That's kind of crappy that another team can affect our schedule like that. I guess it's pretty minor though and money comes first. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/42507217.html
  12. Well if you like a smelly stadium with overpriced Old Style beer and horrible site lines then Wrigley is your place. Not to mention you get to go to the bathroom in a trough. I guess I'm spoiled by Miller Park.
  13. I don't think the Cincinnati series is going to be as easy as some the predictions above make it look. I'll take an 11-11 start and bank it because the schedule has to get easier than that as the season goes on.
  14. I hope this is just a rumor. There's no point in signing Pods when we already have 2 of the same player already on our roster. Pods would probably cost more money too.
  15. I hope McGehee does well against the Cubs so they can regret letting him go from their system. Next Friday would be a good time to start the trend!
  16. It would surprise me. I'll just be happy if Gallardo logs 200 innings. The Cy Young voters mostly look at wins so if Gallardo were to win, that would mean our offense helped him out a lot during his starts. So with a little luck, it could be done.
  17. If Melvin actually made that deal, I'd be angry. Peavy isn't worth that much.
  18. Escobar obviously feels he's done everything he needs to do to play in the Big Leagues and is hungry for a shot in The Show. I like the ambition, but another year of seasoning in Nashville wouldn't hurt. Nashville is sure in for a treat this year with a good team brewing down there. They deserve it after last year's embarassment.
  19. Isn't that an oxymoron/paradox? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif If Macha wants to throw Suppan out there for opening day, fine by me. It just puts the odds very high at us starting the season 0-1. But if we win the series, it's a brilliant move. I would have started Suppan in game 2 or 3 so we could have avoided him in the Cubs series. Heck, maybe we are underrating Suppan too much. Maybe he'll acutally produce this year.
  20. I'm having a great time down here so far. We saw the Brewers play the Indians on Thursday and took a day trip to the Canyon yesterday. We are headed to the Angels game today and it should be a blast. I got a ton of autographs too including Matt LaPorta, Gamel, Nelson, Mike Jones (wished him good luck), Kendall, Macha, and Cameron. Unfortunately I had my baseball right next to Sizemore and he wouldn't sign it. For some reason, he gave Indians fans preferential treatment. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Hopefully it means we keep a better overall pitcher like Morlan, Dillard or DiFelice. He still might pitch for us too when he gets healthy. Here's a quote from Gord Ash: "There was no animosity involved," said Ash. "This was the best course of action for both sides. When he's ready to pitch again, maybe we'll look at him. He has said that when healthy he would like to pitch for us."
  22. I have a fan's choice package and didn't get them yet. I live in Oconomowoc. I'm anxious to see where my opening day seats are.
  23. Actually, it wasn't supposed to be in blue, and I disagree that I'd rather have Gamel and his 40 plus errors at 3B for the 2009 season. I'm not saying McGehee should be the everyday 3B, but a platoon with Lamb would be more valuable than Hall or Gamel everyday.
  24. BA made it sound like the ball was going to be caught at the wall, but to his surprise it left the yard. We might have found someone in McGehee.
