  1. Well I do care about defense and frankly a lineup like that would be downright scary defensively. We better start stocking up on strikeout pitchers.
  2. I think that might be too high of a standard though. I'd be happy if we got 4-5 wins but if we did get 6-7 it would really put us in a nice position. Anyone have any road trip projection numbers?
  3. I would look into keeping Counsell, but another option would be to have Escobar take that utility role next year. It's debatable though, whether you want a top prospect not playing the same position every day. It's nice to have a veteran like Counsell who can spell Hardy and Weeks while doing an average job.
  4. With this umpire crew, it frankly doesn't worry me at all.
  5. I'll take an above average player that hasn't hit his ceiling yet. We still haven't seen the best of Ryan Braun. I would agree with the point that Damon is having a better year to this point, but Braun the Basher is a franchise player in the making.
  6. I'd prolly go with Prince on that one because there are more good RHP than LHP in baseball to match up with Braun.
  7. I guess I shouldn't put as much stock as I do in OPS then considering Braun has 16 more points in his OPS at this point. Can you explain to me the formula behind Runs Created? We can take this offline if you want because I'm sure it's been posted somewhere else.
  8. After sleeping on the idea of getting Sabathia, it sounds exciting but I think the Brewers are best in going another direction such as Matt Cain, Zach Greinke, or Randy Wolf. They could be had for less and would be a huge upgrade over Dave Bush which is exactly what we need. It would also be insurance for when McClung comes back to earth. I would also love to get the 42 year old Greg Maddux and his 3.17 ERA for a half of a season. The Padres can't expect much in return for that old of a pitcher and if they do, they'll get laughed at.
  9. I would keep Salome in his comfort zone in Huntsville and move the bunch up to Nashville for 2009. No reason to rush any of those guys right now.
  10. Yeah since the rumor is that C.C. Turned down a 100 million dollar offer from the Indians, I doubt we'd even bother in the offseason, but if he's the World Series MVP, it's all worth it.
  11. I wonder if Escobar can lay down a bunt because Hardy sure can't.
  12. It really angers me when a Major League hitter can't get a simple bunt down before it hits 2 strikes and then as a result it ends up as a double play. Horrible.
  13. Yeah I wouldn't really complain about Counsell leading off considering he's been getting on base and rather effective in his short stint. Counsell is exactly what you need in a utility player because he can fill in around the diamond and produce for short periods of time.
  14. I wouldn't read too much into that yet. The only reason Suppan wouldn't be pitching on his next due spot would be injury. Nothing else.
  15. Olney elaborated on this on BBTN about 5 minutes ago and he said the Brewers have 2 things that other teams don't have both of to get the Sabathia deal done: Motivation and Prospects. He said the Cubs don't have the prospects and the Dodgers don't have the motivation to get the deal done. It was interesting to see the Yankees off the list of possible teams for Sabathia according to Olney because they are so stubborn about giving up their overrated prospects.
  16. Is it a coincidence that once Jamile Weeks and Miami got eliminated from the Colllege World Series, Rickie is back with the team? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  17. How about we try this again this Friday for the Twins game at 7 pm at Zims? You can all send me off in arms when I head to Minneapolis on Saturday to cheer the Brewers on at the football converted stadium they call the Metrodome.
  18. You could always stop at my house in Random Lake that's about 10 miles away. That's a nice tourist attraction! I would recommend checking out Harrington Beach State Park near Belgium about 8 miles south of Oostburg. It's a nice park to go for a run or strap your roller blades on to enjoy the wave crashing of Lake Michigan.
  19. It sounds like the Cubs are really working the phones right now trying to get some more starting pitching. Too bad their front office is garbage and they have barely any decent prospects in their organization so their trading chips are limited. Has their been a worse drafting team in this decade than the Chicago Cubs?
  20. So would a team of Johnny Damon's do better than a team of Ryan Braun's from an offensive perspective?
  21. Well there has to be at least some interest because replacing Dave Bush with a proven above average pitcher is a definite upgrade and would increase our playoff odds by a ton.
  22. I would be for MLB expanding to Asia for sure. It would give me an excuse to go to Japan and watch Brewers baseball in the process. Sign me up!
