  1. I have cited many points why I think I am right just like everyone else has. I just haven't conducted a study, and again, who has?
  2. I'd love to if I didn't have so much crap going on right now with my job and moving into a new place. I'll put it on my list.
  3. Tony LaRussa and Lou Pinella are "this is how it's done in MLB" type managers and I think they do ok. What GM's are considered SABRmetrics guys? Billy Beane comes to mind, and I know Bill James has a huge influence in Boston. Any others?
  4. Someone from bf.net should perform a study on this. Find all the games Yost has managed and try to objectively find the ones he lost. The objective part will be tough for all of us, but I would really like to see the results of this study. It might enlighten some of us. It might even prove me wrong! Who knows?
  5. Thanks for the elaboration. I have pointed out many facts throughout my days here at bf.net as well as in this thread. And no offense was taken. I will also keep pointing out facts. A good example of a fact is that Yost said Mota was his 8th inning guy and he didn't put him in the 8th inning proving that what he says to the media isn't always true.
  6. And I personally think that's outrageous, but that's just me. If you could site 20 games that he lost for us after September is over, I'd be very surprised. Yost's managing is really over analyzed around the Milwaukee Area and he gets a lot of unnecessary blame, but I can't change people's opinions so I'll just keep pointing out the facts.
  7. Isn't that the purpose of studies? Assuming that no manager is perfect, losing 2 to 3 games in a year is nothing to be ashamed of. Even Lou Pinella and Joe Torre lose games. Ask Detroit how they feel about Jim Leyland.
  8. Just saw that on ESPN's Bottom Line. I don't have a link yet though. This is the best I can do: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7048/news
  9. He's done a good job at not losing games which is different than winning games. No contradiction there. If you heard the interview, you would have had the explanation how managers have little effect on games, but they can lose them once in a while, while rarely win them.
  10. Well I currently have that opinion right now. Hall really does have no future with the Brewers at this point unless he starts to produce. With Gamel in the wings at 3B for next year, I consider Hall good as gone unless he can salvage his season. There is a decent chance of that, but he really doesn't have a role right now other than being able to hit Left Handed pitching with average defense.
  11. Didn't I just say that I was for a Hernan/Hall platoon?
  12. The fact that you are saying that means you are taking Yost's comments to the media at full price which is a mistake in my opinion. Yost said Mota was the 8th inning guy to the media, right? Who came in the 8th inning yesterday? It sure wasn't Guillermo Mota. He doesn't need to be wasting his time with the media, and maybe he should so he could please his fan base, which he obviously doesn't care about, and to tell you the truth, I don't really care what he says either. I care about what he does on the field, and so far this year, he's done a decent job. Unless of course he just would have made Weeks and Cameron hit better at the top of the lineup and stopped Gallardo from getting injured. What a horrible manager!
  13. I don't know if anyone happened to listen to WSSP this morning, but a guy from Baseball Prospectus was on and he emphasized how little the manager factored into winning games in the major leagues. He also defended Yost and said he was doing a good job this year. I know we all respect Baseball Prospectus highly on this site so you should take a listen and maybe that will settle you down about Ned Yost.
  14. I would still stick with Weeks. Now that he's on the DL, we can give him another rehab stint to work on his swing and hopefully that is the same medicine that propelled him to an outstanding end to last year's season. Roberts would probably be better for this year, but let's face it, we just don't have the pitching to contend anyways this year. We might be able to slip into the playoffs with a little luck, but after that it would take huge luck to get to the promised land.
  15. I don't care if he had a 700 OPS entering August. The bottom line is that his OPS was .793 at the end of the season. Also, it was .760 the year before. That's not too bad for a 2B. I also put some stock in Hernan being able to hit major league pitching in Spring Training.
  16. An Iribarren, Hall platoon would be fine by me if you really think Hall is better at 2B. Hurricane would be better against righties than Hall IMO considering Hernan is a lefty.
  17. What's your favorite part about Bush? His 5.85 ERA this year or his 5.12 ERA last year? Weaver has many more 4 ERA seasons than Bush does as he did so in 2004 and 2005. Now, he had a bad 2006 and 2007, but Weaver has playoff experience and it's worth it to give him a shot. It's not like anyone would pick up Bush on waivers if we sent him down because his value is as high as the Zimbabwe Dollar.
  18. One good month? How do you get a career 800 OPS in the minors from one good month? Very interesting. Hernan has hit well in Spring Training for the Brewers the last 2 years as well. He does happen to be struggling right now in AAA, but he's a proven hitter at the minor league level and at least he has some power unlike Counsell.
  19. I don't understand how the Twins can be a bigger rival when the Cubs are closer in distance and the games mean a lot more when we play the Cubs. Interleague is an artificial way to get fans in the stadium and good for Bud Selig for creating it to help attendance in baseball. The Cubs, Brewers rivalry is 10 times bigger than Twins, Brewers.
  20. I'd sure rather have Hernan at 2B than Counsell. At least you'd get some power and hitting. Hernan can play 2B too. He was just moved to CF to increase his value.
  21. Tough choice. Probably shot because it's a quicker death.
  22. I'm still surprised that people still take Ned Yost's comments to the media at full price. I honestly think he just says random stuff to get the press conference over and manages according to his ideals. The more you analyze Yost's media comments, the more you realize how much they mean: nothing.
  23. I don't think it's funny. I think it's a good idea considering how well Hardy did in the 2 spot last year.
  24. Actually it's not when LaPorta is a lot cheaper and Prince's value could be used to retrieve much needed starting pitching.
